cidamelo
alifjenius Claude was protagonist of two GTAs (GTA 2 and GTA III), and when Rockstar said old characters will never come back? EVEN if they said it, they can change of opinion!!
Fuzzknuckles
Doesn't look like claude or tommy vercitti, these speculations are stupid. a-f*cking-men. I'm really sick of all this talk of bringing back old characters. THEY HAVE HAD THEIR TIME. Rockstar have said they're bringing a new experience, so it will be new characters. Telling new stories, not rehashing or bringing back up old ones. f*ck Tommy, f*ck Claude and f*ck CJ. Just give us something new. And really, really f*ck Packie. Worst GTA character of ALL TIME. Signatures are dumb anyway.

DjMiikkii
I really don't think its any of the previous characters, but I do think we may come across one or two in the process of completing the game.
Fuzzknuckles
I really don't think its any of the previous characters, but I do think we may come across one or two in the process of completing the game. As someone pointed out the other day in another thread, there's that graffiti on the wall of a couple of interiors in IV that says RIP Tommy, CJ and Claude, or something similar. I really think that's R*s way of saying those characters are done and dusted. Gone, but not forgotten. Please, move on and stop talking about characters returning. R* always tell a new story, every time. With new characters. We saw Claude return in SA and that was a nice little reference, but we won't ever see those characters as characters again. That's just how it has to be. Signatures are dumb anyway.

WillTay
I don't think the balcony guy is the protagonist anymore, i think the shot's just there to show LS and that guy is just a random business man..
Snake Without a Tongue
He's definitely not a random dude, but he may not be the protagonist. Or maybe he's Nathan Drake.
Fuzzknuckles
He's definitely not a random dude, but he may not be the protagonist. Or maybe he's Nathan Drake. I get the feeling he's a major character, but not the main protagonist - a Ray Bocino, Phil Bell kind of guy - gives you missions, but by the looks of things, also plays a role in the missions themselves. He's not Tommy Vercetti, that's for sure. Dumb theory. Signatures are dumb anyway.
q_b
To be honest, that narrator sounds too dumb or too different to be either Tommy or Claude. If it was indeed Tommy I'd be disappointed because the voice sounds dumb and the character will probably be a dumber version of him, if it is Claude I will be again disappointed that the voice doesn't suit him and his personality. TheD199434
Isn't claude in GTA3 and GTA San Andreas... muted or something? So it isn't the narrator. Fact! And the guy... Tommy is more close to the look than claude, but the guy isn't Tommy.
ch3vychas3
I bet before GTA4 came out, none of you could have pulled the name Niko Bellic out of your arses. My vote is a new protagonist.
Toup
Tommy vercetti would be 60 years old - He wants kids - this doesn't make sense to me. Claude is mute - the guy you're mentioning in the trailer is talking - this doesn't make sense to me. CJ would have aged - both black guys are fairly young - this doesn't make sense to me. Does it to you? Edited November 5, 2011 by Toup
Lucky Sevens
Every other gta has had a new protagonist, so it stands to reason so will this one. Just to throw a thought out there anyway, imagine it's Tenpenny's son.

Tommy is more close to the look than claude, but the guy isn't Tommy. Nope. It hasn't been confirmed that he is mute. Here's R*'s description of him from their official Facebook test: Strong silent type: A man of action who is reserved and masks his feelings. He would be about 40 years old in 2012, if we assume that he was around 20 in 1992 (San Andreas).
Ratone
Actually the test doesn't confirm or deny the fact that he is mute. They are joking with the idea of "strong silent type" that is actually applied to people who can talk.

In GTA III Maria talks about Claude on the radio and she says that he doesn't speak too much. Why would she say that if he is mute? Wouldn't she say that he doesn't talk to her instead? I think that R* initially made him not talk in III so that the game would be more immersive. I think they didn't include any dialog for him in San Andreas either to maintain the mystery surrounding him.

GrandTheftAuto 5SA
I thought Claude didn't talk because he wouldn't talk to anyone he didn't trust... But, Playboy X did talk about killing someone very similar to him and he had his clothes in his apartment. Plus the graffiti in IV had remembrances of Claude and the past III era characters besides Tommy.... Or did I miss his? I don't remember playboy x ever mentioning someone like him
MrGlue
Why i don't think its Tommy- ""Why did I move here? I guess it was the weather."" what did Vice City have crappy weather??? I doubt he stayed in Vice City for all those years.
robla
just my 2 cents: I am guessing it's Claude, too.. because of the trailer's ending. recall the burning car on the freeway.. with an empty ambulance parked behind? this is exactly the opening scene from GTA III

.JimmyHopkins.
The GTA 3 era is DONE.We wont play with any of the old characters again ,get it in your heads.Rockstar stated it clearly...I bet we will be playing multiple characters in GTA V and that's what R* mean when they say they are gonna bring in some new ways of story telling...also,they always make trailers from GAMEPLAY or actual footage in the game,so the things in the trailer must happen somehow or be possible to do in the game...Now i dont think there are gonna be random bank robberies or massive police chases (it's not impossible, but i dont believe it so far until more info comes up) ,SO my theory is that one of the guys in the van must be our protagonist or it is this guy driving the car in the police chase...OR BOTH.Could be just the guy from the police chase because in the robbery scene 3 guys are coming out of the van but not the driver...so it could be the same guy who just works for transport and is not doing the actual robbery.
