GTA_stu
Uuuurgh... I'm so sick of these claude/tommy threads. If you look at it rationally and with logic (doesn't even require very much of those things to work it out) then it's so blindingly obvious its neither of them... especially claude. Why would R* trash his character and use him for no apparent reason when they could just go with a new guy?
timezone34
http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb2009..._%28GTA4%29.png I hope this ends the "Claude" speculation, including Tommy and the others. They have been dead prior to GTA IV.
DawidZnawca
My theory is, the guy who narrates in the trailer wasn't featured on the screen. Base on the 5 protagonists rumor, we've got only 4 protagonists in the trailer (look down to my theory topic about that) but the 5th one is the narrator, he's the main character of the game and he'll feature in next trailer. Who knows, maybe he's Claude? Maybe R* thought that GTA III's character hadn't no personality, hadn't no voice, but he was very well remembered. Even if GTA V is in IV's era (Jerry Kapowitz feautures in the trailer) I think a remake of Claude who acutally talks and has a personality wouldn't be that bad. Actually pretty cool! rmisdice
i personally thought claude was a rubbish character 1) tommy 2) cj 3) niko 3) claude In all Honesty, I'd say he's one of the best, his look represented the matrix sort of style from the Late 90s/Early 2000s and he didn't talk, he just did the job, no whinning or crying. Out of all the Main GTA Protagonist(GTA III, GTA VC, GTA SA, GTA IV) this is how it is for me, from best to worst: 1. Niko Bellic, it is fact that he had the most personality of all the characters, made you invest interest in his character, unlike the previous characters they let him get the most talking time, and I liked the way they showcased his struggles. 2.Tommy Vercetti, One of the coolest, fun character, played by Ray Liotta 3. Didn't talk, just did the job, was a bad ass. 4. Complained too much, his voice made him seem like a nice guy trying to act hard. the best about him though is that he was very customizable Edited March 21, 2012 by rmisdice

MostOfAll
Why in the world do people easily assume that guy in the suit is the protagonist? Because he's the only guy they had a close-up shot of the trailer? For all we know, he could be a mission boss. He could also be Claude or Tommy as a mission boss. fil69fil69
How can peuple Stills believe that any of The GTA3 era characters would ever Côme back? I mean, just the fact that the cities (Liberty City, and now Los Santos) have the same name but are actually totally different tells that this is a completely different universe. Citiez don't magically change like that... Having a character from the GTA3 era in GTAV would make absolutely no sens, it's like assuming that the cities just changed shape ans scale and noone noticed... cidamelo
It would be MY DREAM, but I don't think so! Just because Claude would look hotter! He is only in his 40's!! My husband looks like Claude and is 50 years old, and don't look like that! But I have to admit the pics in page 2 are very interesting!! Now I'm reading more the topic and.... YES, I THINK IT MAY BE CLAUDE SPEED!! I have a lot of friends who 10 years ago were fit, but now are bald, fat, white headed....People change in 10 years! Unfortunately Claude got a little "fat", but he is still charming!!!I WILL DIE HAPPY IF CLAUDE BE THE PROTAGONIST OF THIS ONE!! Bad Girls
Why in the world do people easily assume that guy in the suit is the protagonist? Because he's the only guy they had a close-up shot of the trailer? For all we know, he could be a mission boss. He could also be Claude or Tommy as a mission boss. It's because there's also emphasis on him robbing the bank and the fact he's narrating. Until other evidence on the contrary comes along, it's a safe bet he's the protagonist of GTA V. Might be wrong, the real protagonist might not have been shown yet at all, but if it's anyone from that trailer, it's definitely him. It isn't Claude anyway. Claude's always been portrayed as a fairly young (25-30 year old) nameless, emotionless thug who simply works for money. In both GTA2 and GTA3, with him being mute in the III era. It wouldn't make sense for him to suddenly become a fully-voiced, older, family man.

cidamelo
Original Light Claude isn't italian! In GTA III Joey Leone says he isn't! Bad Girls so why not show the other side of Claude? People change! And Rockstar likes Claude Speed!
Zcheese
It might be pretty odd from a writer's perspective to make the 3 Era and 4 Era cross over but really, I wouldn't mind it.
walkingsickness
To be absoulotuy honest...I DONT think that Claude will be the protagonist in V (contrary to my post on this thread so far...which was just to create a convo on the possibility of it) I DO think at some point we will see him and he MAY play a part in the game...somehow. It woulden't be in R* way of things to recycle players just because they always like doing it fresh. Giving a brand new experience to the level of game play. GTA-Addicted
What if.... We havent seen our protagonist yet, and the trailer shows some random actions that could happen in V ? A lot of topics have been made by users in the past about asking/whishing for a more alive city and random events taking place, wouldn't that be nice ? Ped's that are into crime ? I know it's a long shot, but we don't know Jack sh*t
CheesyJ
I do not believe that the protagonist for this game will be a returning character. It was previously stated that we were past the III era, so with us now passing the V era, why would we take a step back to an era before that? It just doesn't make any sense whatsoever to me. CJfoo
Its not Claude this guy actually talks it would more likely be Tommy than Claude but guess what? It probably isnt Tommy either.. Well first of all we never saw that man ACTUALLY speaking, everyone is simply ASSUMING that the voice you hear in the trailer belongs to him because he seems to be the only white guy and the voice sounds white to most people. Secondly IF they brought back Claude they'd probably make him talk because the only reason he never talked before is that they were brand new at making a 3d game like this at the time and they thought it would take away from the immersion, the feeling of actually BEING in the game, if the main character talked. Since then they have reversed that decision and the main character talking is one of the best parts of these games. However I doubt it's Claude or Tommy at this point. I think it's someone entirely new.
