If you think about it thats pretty much what it was, multiple protags. The stories eventually came together, when the diamnds were brought in. For example, one character can't fly planes but the other character can do. While one character can't run fast, the other one will run like a cat. CJ from San Andreas did everything - he could fly a plane, ride a bike, ride a car, parachute jump, excellently shot with guns. Which wasn't so realistic at all. However, after seeing the trailer, I think that 2 is a possibility. Let's go through all of them: 1) Who I think is the actual protagonist - he's young enough, fit enough and is involved in a car chase. We also see him multiple times. I don't think that's him in the van, though, it' doesn't look like the same complexion. 2) That's just a pedestrian. Don't be so ridiculous. 3) The obvious choice for the protagonist, however I think he's just too old to make the cut. I do think that he'll be a very important character though, as we hear his backstory. I think that was just taken from a cutscene, perhaps where he's explaining to the protagonist why he's in his situation (much like Mr Macfarlane did in Red Dead Redemption; note how it was his monologue in the debut trailer for the game). 4) A character who may or may not be CJ (as he wears the same outfit and runs the same not just because he's black). This clearly isn't a random police chase happening to an NPC as there is a helicopter (which would indicate a wanted level of 3 or higher) and police not shooting at him (which they probably would normally do if a helicopter was also needed). This indicates that this is cinematic, perhaps as part of a cutscene, after which we turn back to the protagonist. If there is a second protagonist, however, it's this guy. 5) That's a very astute observation. However, I don't think it's the same person, and I certainly don't think that he's playable. If you want a gang story, go and play Saints Row: The Third. And it's extremelly boring. Always the same thing... Karsy Posted February 1, 2012 Share Posted February 1, 2012 i surely hope there's only one protganist, and im pretty sure there will only be one protagnist. to make multiple ones would completely remove the whole feeling of playing a gta game, and will not make the game as personal as they usually are. i personaly think it would be a stupid move, and i highly doubt rockstar will do that. the old guy seems the mso possible candidate so far but nothings for sure tbh. i dont mind him, just as long as he isnt old enough to hit the gym and give him stuff, also riding a bike... haha. but tbh the scene where he gets out the van shows that he is quite a big stocky man, not like a frail man who cant do sh*t which is good! There might actually be five protagonists in V and the trailer is definitely hinting towards multiple protags.. I actually prefer one protagonist but Rockstar knows what they're doing, I'm sure it will work out just fine. This is because they keep getting punched on their ears. Could this mean that Protag #4 will be a fighter? or maybe a UFC fighter is profiling him? Just a theory. Tommy Vercetti was 35 years old, this Ned Luke character looks to be around 40. What's the difference? He looks like a real tough guy and he has a nice face. It matched the vest man being chased by cops, and more importantly, he's in the DRIVER'S seat i think. So i think we can choose our protag. In this mission they all are involved and in one play though we're this guy, in another we're black haired guy.... EDIT - this vest guy could be either guy actually, probable the red car driver, as the man being chased by cops doesn't look good enough for a protag.... wow i actually had to look up the trailer to believe he is driving the van. i thought this was edited. good find Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I had thoughts that R* was going to do something like this in the next installation of GTA, but nothing is sure at this point. I think that if the game is playable with many characters, R* should take the opportunity, and make these charactets different from each other. For example, L.A Noire proofed that playing as a cop really works very well. I think that the trailers characters looked interesting, espesially the retaired criminal in the balcony. But the others seemed pretty dull to me, but its still the very first trailer, so its pretty hard to tell. I`d like the protagonists to be something like these: 1. Retired criminal Just like in the trailer. It gives the game a bit of a feeling like Robert De Niros character in Heat. He was a badass and never worked for anybody. 2. Young and reckless criminal Classic character from the older GTA:s. He is young (like 20-25 years old) and he wants quick money, nice cars and some ladies. Rolemodels could be like Ben Afflek:s character from the Town or Vito from Mafia 2. The retired criminal could be his mentor or his father. 3. Young police This guy could fit perfektly to the game. He would be young and eager to make a difference to the corrupted world. Good rolemodel could be Cole Phelps or Will Smiths character from Bad Boys. He would raise in his career until he is in FBI or some other department like that. His mentor could bee the Captain of the police station. Captain could bee one of the criminal characters antagonist. Im not so sure of this, but the young cop could bee an old friend of the young criminal or maybe even his father. That could create good drama. 4. Exotic character This could bee a good chance for R* to make an exotic or different character. He or she could bee anything: Freelancer, PMC Soldier, homeless, mafioso or like worlds richest guy. Everything is possible. 5. The Wild Card This guy is the game changer. He is myth, he is a legend. He is like Jason in Friday the 13. He is like Jebus in Madness Combat-animations. He would bee interesting and maybe little scary. He would be a Protector or a Destroyer. He would be a legend. These are my proposals. And when you beat the game you could get an extra campaigin, where you play as the main antagonist of the game. I think these would make the game more spontanius and interesting. But remember that these are only my opinions, so dont hate on this, thank you. Yeah, i agree, one is the protagonist (probably) and the others are characters from the game. There can be 5 stories, doesn't necessarily mean you will play them.
