Pictures that suggest 5 protagonists rumor's TRUE

From the looks of things,I thought maybe two of those protagonists in that trailer where DLC's? But,they wouldn't release the DLC characters etc in the first trailer. I would not care if we got to pick which protagonist to play as and they all have different story's,bonding with each other.

Crimson Engage

Why can't the next protagonist be a woman? Even better, let us make the protagonist look how we want before we start a new game.

Btw, i'm a guy I just figured it would be nice to look at an ass when i'm running around murdering people at a Burger Shot. lol

Won't be controlling 5 characters in Los Angeles, more like Los Santos/San An, however, I hear more rumor, that DLC will add a city or similar, that there's conjecture of still some time changes taking place between period settings, now I don't think that's logical, but it's been said after the trailer release, so make of that what you will, People are convinced you can play as different characters and I won't rule that out either

Your only argument is basically that guy has to be the protag because the middle aged dude doesn't look good enough. I think the middle aged dude looks like a bad ass, and the Mexican looks like an ugly MFer, and I don't think HE looks good enough to be the protag. Not to mention the middle aged dude is shown the most.

Why do so many assume you will go from one protagonist to another? In the last GTA, you played as three protagonists, and each one had their own story. I don't see why this would be any different.

I don't like the idea of multiple protagonists confused.gif I always get attached to the character in the end, and I just can't see that happening if I play as multiple characters.

I would imagine that these other characters are playable, but not protags. They are most likely just models for multiplayer. Relating to the lead character is very important to make the game feel realistic. Chopping and changing who you are playing all the time will only make the game feel less of a journey. Theres a reason why rockstar have stuck to the rags to ritches formular...it works! And if you had lots of protags you wouldnt build a relationship with them as well as if you play as one.

I know that in red dead you changed protag at the end. But this was because you died...and for that reason I think it worked.

Another theory is that all of these other characters are in cut scenes. Look at the trailer for TLAD. Theres loads of characters and stuff going on in that trailer. It wouldnt be difficult to analyse it and say, he could be the protag, he could be the protag, but as we now know, there was only one.

My compliments for this thread. Don't know if it's all true but it comes close to what I think 'Five' is al about.

If the van scene is a mission cut scene. Quite possibly, the driver might be the protagonist. Why? Well think of all those missions you've done where you rob something or go to a meet or kill someone. YOU have always been the DRIVER, so its a possibility our protagonist could be number 2. the black man running from the police and in the red car.

Same.

After a few viewings of the trailer, I agree it does seem to focus on a few individuals. Though this could just be hinting at the main storyline characters, most previous GTA trailers have been a subtle slideshow of features in the game - take a look at the San Andreas trailer for instance, it was almost entirely a collection of 'you can do this' moments.

The next trailer will probably confirm whether or not there will be multiple characters. The format of the first trailer suggests that their would be another backstory narrated by another protagonist IF it were the case. But I hope it isn't I just don't see it working.

Yeah it's true, but it seems the driver isn't going no were, while the others with the uniforms are.

Anonymous said the players character would be hispanic and the voice in the trailer is clearly hispanic.

It is? Sounds like an Italian-American tinge to me, which I thought was the older guy. The Hispanic guy looks a bit young (And yes, young people can have kids.).

Also guys, I wouldn't trust anything Anonymous or 4chan has to say...

I hope there will be only one protagonist. More protagonists won't be good idea.

I agree - it it takes the RDR/la noire approach. That would ruin the game for me.

But multiple characters, done the way I've said (you select one and the start and play the whole game with him) with differing stories would be cool.

The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.

I'm honestly just gonna say that game requires ocean 11 type heists and the other people shown in the trailer are helpers. The old white guy is probably the mastermind while the others are people he gathers. Like for instance when it shows the black guy running he probably just fleed from jail.( look closely at his leg as some sort of device is on it) And Jerry is probably recruited cause he's good with stealing. Anybody think this is the right direction?

Edit: looking at other comments I think the heist are triggered from the recession

Edit 2: The hispanic guy is probably either a driver or a supplier of cars. I think im getting very close!! devil.gif

This!

I have to say this is the most interesting theory about the trailer so far. The gaming press were already bandying about the rumor that there were going to be multiple playable protagonists before the trailer was announced although not being specific about how it would work. Traditionally just having a new city isn't enough to get an increment in number (IV to V) without there being a step change in the player mechanic and it's possible that the big difference from four to five is the way in which this will be worked through. The pictures of the individuals are a convincing match for the guys robbing the store and their motivations i.e. Homeless, lost house, etc. are laid out. The emphasis on V and five really would fit with there being five characters or views on the story.

Obviously it could be nothing but of all the speculation on here, this is what I'm hoping for.

I think the narrator of the first trailer is one of the characters. And I believe that there will be 5 trailers, in each one there will be a different narrator talking about different reason why he moved/does/lives for in Los Santos. That would explain "5 guys, 5 bullets, 5 letters" mystery.

5 guys = 5 protagonists

5 bullets = 5 trailers (they shook you like a shot from a gun, like a bullet)

5 letters = 5 stories (the story "I bought a big house, wanna play ball with kids" comes from one of the character that features in the trailer. I bet it's the Protagonist Number 3)

maybe the "5 letters" thing means that there will be five different "V" symbols, one for each protag!!

The guy hiking up the mountain is the rich guy who is losing money fast (probably an actor that is having trouble landing acting jobs after his mid-life crisis), the colored guy is a car thief and vehicle supplier of sorts, Jerry is probably the guy who was extremely rich but is now a deadbeat, and the older guy is probably the mastermind with all the cash to fund it, but has a major debt hanging above his head and is too stubborn to give up his possessions to pay the debt. My two pence.

Sorry, I have been away from gtaforums for so long, but I had to come back now with the new trailer and such..... so where did this five thing come from? Are you just taking this from it being fifth (V) GTA game? Or was 5 guys, 5 bullets, 5 letters said somewhere?

Some time ago, even before GTA V was announced I think, there was a mystery topic in which there was a pool with question: "1102?" (the release date of the first trailer) and options: "204" (still not sure about that) and "5 guys, 5 bullets, 5 letters". Some guys (like me) are interested if this has something to do with GTA V and if it comes from a R* employee to create the hype for the game.

If that is actually true that a Rockstar person posted it on here, then that's pretty cool. Has Rockstar been known to have posted here in the past?

Probably, there was a guy called Chevy Chase gta4 who knew a lot of things from GTA IV even before the trailer (Here's the topic: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=269166&hl=). Funny, because no one believed him and when it happened that IV's took place in Liberty City, everyone was like "WOW!". He's kind of legend I think.

I find it funny that people are even considering this. Some guy joins the forums and the first thread he makes is about the "inside info" he managed to get his hands on. He's got absolutely no credibility. Just because he use's correct grammar and thinks up a half decent story doesn't make this true.

Call me a skeptic but I think this is bullsh*t. He's probably laughing his ass off that people are considering this.

I agree, the second I looked at the title I though to myself "yep, another one of these crap topics *yawn*".

I know what you mean.

I've got some theory about that van jewerly shop robbing (as [enforcA] correctly noticed) scene. You see, I think the narrator wasn't in the trailer, he was just talking. The narrator is no one from these 4 guys, he's the 5th one who will feature in next trailers.

So, the van scene looks promising, pretty cool and action-packed. But where is the narrator (main character) in this mission? Nowhere. I think it's the first cut scene of GTA V in which the narrator will be a normal guy who buys some jewerly for his girlfriend. But out of nowhere - 3 guys (plus 1 driver) are destroying the doors, walking in with guns and shouting: "That's a rob, give me all you got!!!!1111".

Suddenly, the narrator who "wanted to retire from what I was doing" will be captured by this group of 4 guys and that's why he said: "But, well, you know how it is". He didn't want to be like them but looks like he will have to.

I seriously hope that we'll have only one protagonist. I don't give a damn about his race, country of origin or whatever, but please don't ruin the game like that. I stopped playing Red Dead Redemption after John died... I just couldn't stand his son who sounded like a 10 year old girl..

Well, the narrator sounds a bit like a black man... But more like a white middle-aged American. I don't know. Whoever his race will be, I'll be happy as always.
