Invisible walls/inaccessible mountains

After looking at the vast mountain ranges and the fact that mountains seem to stem at least 2 sides of the city, I'd bet that rather than being an "Island" this time we're going to hit an invisible wall rather than all 4 sides of the map being water. There might just be some parts too steep to climb/drive up and flying will eventually stay in the same place (like the original SA when after flying/travelling by boat for about 5 mins you appear to progress but not on the map) a few mountains in..

I cant see how southern California, including countryside can be a solitary island. Maybe we'll have inaccessible tunnels in the mountain face as we did in III?

Thoughts on how the map will "end"? Remember it does have to end somewhere, and they cant have virtual miles of mountains as well as a vast city and countryside (although the first part of the mountains/some peaks should be accessible).

wont happen. GTA is not saints row. Plus gta 5 is gonna have planes. Wont that seem a little stupid to crash into nothing? Yea gta 5 wont do that. Rockstar wont put crap into a good game. They want gta 5 to be the biggest gta yet.

So in your opinion we will see the classic "Island" here? It will look rather odd having a big city and countryside surrounded by water.. But i'd also rather it than invisible boundaries.. Maybe there will be "never ending" mountain ranges, that you (as i stated above) stop progressing after a certain distance.. as with travelling out to sea in other games

I also think there may be no flyable jets, unless there are hidden/unannounced areas which i 90% doubt.

Well, I'm not sure if it will be a traditional 'island' and I really hope it is because nobody wants to fly into an invisible wall lol. I'm guessing we have Los Santos, then the mountains, countryside and amongst that countryside we may see small towns (it seems logical).

I'm not saying there will be other cities, but I am certain there will definetly be small towns away from Los Santos - just look at the scene where you see the digging whilst looking at Los Santos, there is bound to be more behind the camera view that we haven't been shown yet.

Thats not to mention the part with the wind-turbines, you can clearly see how vast it looks and clearly shows you can most likely go down both sides of the hill/mountain area. It'd be a slap in the face if we couldnt explore them and just hit invisible walls! We should just wait till Rockstar reveals more about GTA V.

Saints row is also an island, just the first one had that.

You also can't make that claim since GTA III had that too.

I bet that once you get further out, you will have the ocean (seperating the cities and stuff) and an inaccessible bridge that leads to the other cities.

I'm saying this after much thought:

TO THE NORTH: An endless forest past the mountain shown in the trailer. The Los Angeles National Forest to be exact.

TO THE EAST: Joshua Tree National Park, possibly with an Area-51-esque military base that will shoot you down once you enter the airspace.

TO THE WEST: Obviously the ocean, endless and allowing you to fly forever (obviously you'll never get anywhere though...)

TO THE SOUTH: The Mexican Border. You will not be allowed to cross the border, or if you can you'll be pursued by 6-star police force.

oo.. this one is interesting.

perhaps a huge piece of terrain that loops itself eh?

It will be sea again. Randomly getting blown up for going too far out into the ocean will always beat having a physical wall of mountan stopping you from going any further It just seems to take out some of the freedom out of a sandbox. I can understand a game like RDR having that sort of restriction but in a game were you can run, swim, drive and fly anywhere the sky should be the limit not mountains.

Well, mountains worked in GTA III (at least for some part of the map), although of course there weren't so many planes/helicopters etc. so it was very hard to get over them.
