PhantomFoxy
yes: DO THE MISSIONS, and once you do the 'Are You Going To San Fierro' mission, you can access San Fierro WITHOUT a 4-star wanted level.
lil weasel
Wrong! The mission that opens San Fiero is Green Sabre" However if just want to look around the whole of San Andreas without being wanted: When you start the Reunite the Families, Don't enter the Motel, just go swim to the other island and steal a vehicle. Or steal a plane from the airport. Jump to the guard house roof to climb in. then when you have look enough go back and finish the mission. All you have to do is just go under the Controls section of the Pause menu and reconfigure the controls to something you are comfortable with...this is the same for III and VC-remember that from those games? Just a heads up. Also, SA is just like III and VC was-if you remember from those games, you must unlock the Islands via the story missions(of coarse in those games you didn't get a wanted level for accessing the locked islands early...) I tried to fix the controls, and i reset all the controls too, but [space] still scrolls down instead of selecting the haircut and so therefore i cant pass "ryder". lil weasel
If you haven't reconfigured the controls: SPACE is for Sprint. TAB is for selection. What is the source of your game? How was it installed? Did you attempt any Mods? Have you used cheats? (Don't use cheats to avoid or work around problems)

Just redefine the controls as you want (something like Menu > Options > Redefine Controls > Foot Controls). And then viola, getting a haircut shouldn't prove to be such a problem. zmoonchild
Wrong! The mission that opens San Fiero is Green Sabre" Well, technically speaking, after the mission Green Sabre, San Fierro can be entered without getting a Wanted Level, but it doesn’t become unlocked though until after the mission Are You Going to San Fierro? has been passed. Once an area becomes unlocked, properties inside of it can be purchased. if just want to look around the whole of San Andreas without being wanted: When you start the Reunite the Families, Don't enter the Motel, just go swim to the other island and steal a vehicle. Or steal a plane from the airport. Jump to the guard house roof to climb in. then when you have look enough go back and finish the mission. That’s pretty late in the Los Santos storyline to try that exploit; the same exploit can be done earlier during the following missions (thanks to P.D. Escobar):1) Drive By 2) Just Business (with some limitations) 3) Los Sepulcros Hope that helps.

cactus.
I tried to remove from the controls, but then instead of scrolling down, nothing happens. Can you tell me how you got the haircut to work? Personally, I defined my directional arrows as W(up), X(down), A(left), and D(right). So when getting a haircut, I use W and X to scroll through the different hairdos and use R to select and purchase. I don't use spacebar for anything. I believe I use the S key for going back, or maybe F, can't remember.. edit: spellin n sh*t Edited November 5, 2011 by TheCacti
radioman
I play on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard That could very well be part of the problem, as the game was designed for Windows, as the box the game comes in-V2, which is the latest copy besides the Steam version(V3), says: Windows 2000(Pro and workstation)-SP1 or higher, XP(Home and Pro)-SP1 and higher, Vista(Basic, Premium, Business, or Ultimate), and of Coarse all Windows 7 versions, as it is an update of both XP and Vista...Also, it says that Vista has higher requirements... To my knowledge the ONLY way to play Windows games on Macs is to Run Windows in Bootcamp or a similar program?-I don't know that much about Macs, as I have never had one-I only know Windows PC's...But, I have read a little about them...Just a heads up. But, as far as controls go, there are two settings for most options-a Main and a Secondary setting-delete the secondary one, so the game won't try to recognize it and then reconfigure the main one to a key of your liking... Tab is the key that answers the phone, and the ctrl key is the one that starts the R3 missions, the Arrow keys controls vehicles, the Enter AND F keys enter vehicles, A and D are the same as the Left and Right arrow keys, W and S are for controlling Planes and 'copters forward/backwards amd is the Lean forward/back on bikes/motorbikes, H is the Horn key, R is the Radio, Left mouse=shoot, Right mouse=aim, middle mouse=select weapon and also Radio secondary key when in vehicle, etc. and for some reason on the Steam version, you have to hit Right mouse and then use the mouse to move the camera around-whereas, on the Retail(V2) pressing the right mouse is not necessary...These are the keys my game uses, which I assume are the defaults... I redefined my controls exactly how you did but [R] still doesn't cut my hair. sorry Check it out: Here are my controls, and getting a haircut works for me, so it should work for you too. Notice how R is the key for sprint. Well, in addition to sprinting, I also use R for selecting things like haircuts, or weapons at Ammunation, or clothes at ZIP, etc. I have both UP and W designated as Forward, whereas I use X to go Backwards. Basically, I use W and X (even though it says 'UP,' which I can use too) to scroll through the options, and R (i.e. my sprint button) to view it. Then I use R again to purchase. Considering that I'm playing on a mac too, this ought to work for you. Hope that helps edit: in short, to avoid having to redefine all your controls, just use your sprint button to select things like haircuts.
