whaaaat??? just LS? wow, i thought someone confirmed seeing a San Andreas license plate?

Why do people think this is a valid confirmation of a whole SA map? It's just the license plate, people in LA don't have "Los Angeles" plates, they have California. Its the state thats on the license plate, not the damn city.

Speaking of which the license plates in SA depended on which city you were in as well. This time around it seems to be a bit more realistic naming it after a state. GTA IV also had "Liberty State" on license plates too.

In real life I've never seen a license plate named after a city. It seems to be the most logical thing to do really, however I still think it'll be SA, but not like the SA we used to know. The whole thing about Southern California and the fact there's surrounding areas means to me there's probably enough to warrant it being a state.

They don't need SF and LV. There's plenty of other things they can do with the map. In actual fact having just one main city will probably be good for the people who like exploration. I bet the countryside will dwarf what was seen in SA.

I am having SO MUCH TROUBLE seeing how that could be a disappointment. Sorry, just cannot see it. If someone were to tell me thats what GTA V would look like I wouldn't believe it. I am more than happy.

Then why the f*ck on earth they put SA on License plates? I hope this LS would not end GTA.

If they cant make new GTA, this need to STOP.

ROCKSTAR! ITS OVER.

If you cant get excited over this new trailer you are not a GTA fan. Someone give the baby his bottle.

The same guys in that little "conference" brought us GTA I, II, III, Vice City, San Andreas, GTA IV, Red Dead, Bully, LA Noire, Max Payne etc. Everyone was complaining about the same thing when the first IV trailer came out "awww not Liberty City again, its 2 small, blah blah blah".... Rockstar have never disappointed. How about we just wait till more information is out then we can jump to conclusions. Better yet, why not wait till the game is out. At the end of the day, we all know your all (haters) going to be waiting in that line when it comes out.

Its so f*cking lame that theyre only doing socal, no one wants this. A game with the bay area/alcatraz/LV wouldve been so much better. You fail again R*, maybe try again next hardware generation.

Perhaps Isuck100% was right about people being ungrateful and not relishing in the fact that GTA V is on its way.

Oh well. yawn.gif

How do you know what people want? I wanted SoCal more than anything. Be gratefull or GTFO, all you said in Genesis was hateful, to R* and to Chevy Chase, you're a hater.

I'm not worried about that. This will be one of the biggest games of the year. R* will make tons of money off of it. biggrin.gif

Yes they will make tons of money off it. But I can give you my personal assurance that it won't take the world by storm the same way GTA IV did. It's because GTA IV was the follow up from GTA San Andreas and people had high expectations. It was only once they bought the game that they realised their disappointment.

GTA IV was probably one of the best games in current Gen console, but it had a lot lower replayability than GTA: SA with far less things to do. For every new perk GTA IV had here and there, there'd be thrice as many things taken away from the game.

You don't realise this until you get passed the awesome next gen graphics. It's only after the novelty of the graphics wears off, do people look around and say "hey, there's less things to do here than in previous GTA games".

Rockstar can't rely on just graphics and Story this time around, because gameplay is what Sandboxes thrive upon, and the reason why they have so much replayability. GTA's graphics are dated now with uber refined games like Uncharted and Battlefield 3, and well story is no longer fun after you've played through it a couple of times coz you already know the story. Thus the main selling point this time around is what new gameplay features have they included, and well 1 city instead of 3 isn't helping!!

Rockstar better have some hidden tricks up their sleeves to keep the momentum of the hype if they wish to make record sales again this time around...

and the reason why people thought, think, and/or assume that was a valid confirmation of the entire city is cuz every gta game anyone can remember, has had 3 cities.

only san andreas had 3 cities.

The other thing is, with the amount of outcry (looking at R* comments section, its like finding a needle in a haystack in terms of people supporting just Los Santos) R* will not just have one city. They want to outdo themselves.

But knowing these fans, nothing will make them happy.

Well, Rockstar would have to be pretty damn dense not to think the rabid fanbase they have left in the dark wouldn't be poring over the trailer and picking it apart and analyzing it systematically.... I mean what else are we going to do or talk about?

Secondly they'd have to be retarded not to realize putting the words San Andreas in the trailer multiple times on car plates wouldn't make people natually assume there were all 3 cities.

So if it's just Los Santos and the fanbase is disappointed, Rockstar has nobody to blame but themselves.

While that is true I don't think we will be disappointed. Take a look at any shot in the trailer and pause it, let it sink in for a second or two and you can see how amazing this game will be. I loved gta San Andreas and Although it would be nice to have all of the reminiscent qualities, I WANT NEW STUFF!!!!!!!!

This is going to be great, I can feel it.

is just gonna be weird to open the map screen for the first time playing GTAV and only see one City with a bunch of hills around it when the game apparently takes places in San Andreas

BTW has anyone through how they are gonna implement the only one city thingy? if it is true anyways, i mean, will there be just a bunch of impasable mountains or ocean where SF and las Venturas used to be? if so, that's gonna ruin my immersion in the game so much and just make me wanna play the REAL san andreas again

now i hope for the love of good SF and las Venturas still there, i don't care if Los Santos is 10000000000000000000 times bigger than GTA IV liberty city, it's just not San Andreas writhout SF and las Venturas, is as simple as that, if Rockstart wanted to go "all in one city" then why in the holy hell they didn't pick Vice City instead??? that would have been a hell of a lot better for this situation

oh and if those crappy consoles ( yes crappy, im tired of them holding back the whole game industry) with their memory issues and outdated hardware are holding back the developement of the game even further, then, again, why didn't Rockstart just save San Andreas for GTA VI when the next Gen of consoles are avaiable and hopefully can support a full size San Andreas map with up to date graphics, AI and all that good stuff, god, the more i think about it, the more i think Vice City was the right chose for GTA V instead of San Andreas or shall i say los Santos because if there's only one city this is no San Andreas Son, think about it, only once super mega big city would feel wayyyy more natural in Vice City than in San Andreas

It's funny because most people still think GTA IV's direction was a mistake (myself included). A mistake that wasn't really corrected until TBoGT and then only barely.

No, San Andreas version of Los Angeles was EXTREMELY inaccurate. On this version they are making it a lot different so it's not like there are going to be these big empty spaces where LV and SF used to be.

You may have missed the point. 3 cities is San Andreas' FOOTPRINT it left on the industry. If you ask someone what they think of when they think of SA, they'll tell you 'LA, San Fran and Vegas, and the forests.' Los Santos could be four thousand times bigger than the previous version, the fact remains that it's ONE city. Regardless of how vast and detailed it is. One city. If R* were going to make a game with one city, I agree, it should have been Vice City. If it's true that this really is just Los Santos, then it doesn't matter how good it is. It's a waste.

I understand your pain, yet they say this will be their biggest map yet.

who is "they" ?

and who confirmed only los santos ?

Rockstar http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/arti...nouncement.html

they did not confirm anything i spoke to rockstar myself they didn't confirm it which means nothing is official or confirmed it is still a secret if it was confirmed they would have no issues telling me

nothing is official yet stop saying they confirmed it they havn't you just think they have

Damn....so much vitriol in this thread. The 1:30 first trailer for the game is just released 2 days ago and people are already bashing it??

How about this..don't buy the game and send R* a nice, big angry letter while they're raking in millions if not billions from a likely spectacular game.

Guys the map is going to be bigger than any previous game Rockstar ever made, and just because R* said "Grand Theft Auto V heads to the city of Los Santos" doesn't mean there won't be smaller cities around, why else would there be an interstate freeway? And the license plates say "San Andreas".

They have one city I assume because of hardware limitations preventing them from having 3. They would have to have the same level of detail in EACH city think how much GB's that would take up on a disc I dont think the 360 is capable of that maybe the ps3 but Im not sure in this area.

If the reasoning behind 1 city truly is hardware limitation (kinda doubting that, they could have done 3 cities if

they had the time imo) then i say Bring on the Xbox 720 and PS4.

If the reason for one city is because of limitations, I say f*** the 360!!!!

So you're saying that this game could literally be the BIGGEST and most detailed map ever, but your upset because it doesn't have the words "San Andreas" above the map?

I hear you, you're going to miss the other cities, I will too (and as of right now, nobodies knows if it is just Los Santos), but the fact of the matter is that it's not Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, it's GTAV.

Two different games, two different generations, two completely different locations. Everyone begs Rockstar to throw them a bone and when they suddenly do, blam, "I have a problem with this..(insert any little thing)".

I'm going to buy this game no matter what. It looks gorgeous and there's way more to come! Also for the fact that I valued a lot of time here patiently waiting for days like November 2nd.

Halo_Override

I know I'm kind of wasting my breath here, but I'll say it anyway.

Until and unless Rockstar radically changes what the GTA games are about and how they're evolving, there is no new Vice City game to be made.

Miami is only relevant from an 80s cocaine-mythology perspective. What are they going to do, have more Miami Vice suits in different colors from before? New Scarface references? More Phil Collins songs? You can only tell the same story so many times.

If in the future they decide they want to get even more serious with the storytelling style, and focus less on the mixed slapstick/dirty-words lampooning, but more consistently on their subtler style of satirizing the American Dream, then they have the narrative flexibility to start dealing with deeper and less cartoonish stories in smaller American cities like Miami. But even then, places like San Francisco (60s counterculture), Las Vegas (the Mob and casinos), Houston (oil boom, border issues), Detroit (urban breakdown and renewal), Washington DC (politics of any era), New Orleans (Katrina aftermath), and even regions like the Pacific Northwest have a lot broader potential than Miami, which had exactly one already-used noteworthy historical period.

Conversely, if they want to keep going bigger and grander, while still staying in an English environment, they pretty much only have London to move on to, and that means leaving the critiques of American culture behind and taking on some new themes.

Think about it -- Rockstar knows there's a big San Andreas fanbase and a big Vice City fanbase, and when it was time to think about V, they chose San Andreas. Los Angeles has resonance in any historical era that also has automobiles. Miami has resonance in the 80s, period. Do people really think Rockstar didn't consider this?

I get that some people love Vice City, but Rockstar isn't going to spend years of effort and millions of development dollars on a fanservice project that could completely derail the financial future of their company.

I'd love to read some concrete ideas about how they could make a viable new game set in a newly-designed Miami-based setting, rather than another bunch of content-free posts repeating "V Y U NO VICE CITY?" Who knows, since Rockstar almost certainly poke their heads in here from time to time, maybe the Vice fans could actually do something that might spark a new viable game idea rather than just complaining that Rockstar doesn't know how to make a GTA game properly.

For anyone still not getting my point, I offer this... the Miami Wikipedia page, unlike the pages for many other cities, has no section discussing contemporary crime or social problems. But they have this:

In 2008, Forbes magazine ranked Miami "America's Cleanest City", for its year-round good air quality, vast green spaces, clean drinking water, clean streets and city-wide recycling programs.

There aren't enough David Caruso jokes in the world to make a contemporary Vice City game work.

I post this not to anger or depress people, but because I'm eager to be proven wrong.
