Mainland Marauder
OK, this is actually sort of serious, or more serious than it looks. LA is full of street food, taco trucks and such. It's also full of shopping and "regular" restaurants. Guess what I'm asking here is how much of a variety do we expect? And could they actually be useful somehow besides just getting new clothes or replenishing your health. Do you want your character to get hungry and have to eat like CJ did in San Andreas? I found that I basically quit going to Burger Shot or whatever in IV since I just needed health, and sometimes there'd be a hotdog stand right there. It added some realistic flavor (so to speak) to the street scene, especially where otherwise it was lacking. Then again I can understand for technical reasons why there weren't a thousand people walking around IV's Times Square mockup. Some people like the extra stuff, going out to eat with friends/dates, and some just want to run around beating up hookers. The thing about GTA is people like to see and do different things, just like living in a real city. Give me your thoughts on these or other related topics. Breaking Bohan
It would be fun to have even more dining options and I would like the character to get hungry and have the body type change based on the character's diet. If CJ (or whoever) eats Burger Shot all day he should gain weight but if he eats healthy foods (sushi for example) then he would stay trim and have more energy. We should also have option of eating till we barf ... it was always fun to do in SA.

Mainland Marauder
We should also have option of eating till we barf This is very popular with the bulemic wannabe models and actresses. Very LA. Well played. I like having all the "options" for dining, but what if they do the same? A hotdog is just as good as a steak dinner? It gets kind of pointless. In any case, I'd like to see more things to do with your money, that might actually matter later in the game. At worst, I guess you could have an achievement for eating at every food outlet in the game, but it'd be nice if there was something more meaningful than that. Mainland Marauder
Now, here's an idea - what if the restaurants figure into either the storyline or some other side business, whether your character actually owns it, is responsible for protecting it, or both. Thinking of expanding on elements of Vice City Stories here. "You tell me exactly what you want, and I'll explain to you very carefully why it cannot be." Steve.0
Maybe some foods are unhealthier than others, depending on your average foods, it will effect your characters health. Add RPG elements like in SA

j.hunt
about the possibility of being fat/slim like in the original San Andreas i think that it's not possible because of Euphoria and the way it handles realistically the weight of the body

We need more things to spend money on from completing missions and buying restaurants (and protecting them) would be a lot of fun.
Dale Nixon
The whole being hungry and fat sh*t was pretty annoying, especially when you started losing health. I hope that they leave that sh*t out. Eating to regenerate health wouldn't be any kind of problem though.

This is stuff that can enhance the extended-play and replay value of the game after you've finished the storyline, which seems to be a common complaint about IV. And if we're looking at 4-5 year development times, this is something people are going to want. The whole being hungry and fat sh*t was pretty annoying, especially when you started losing health. I hope that they leave that sh*t out. Eating to regenerate health wouldn't be any kind of problem though. Right, I know it annoyed some people. I didn't mind it, or any of the RPG-ish stuff in SA. I rather dig games like that. But, barring that, should eating serve any function besides restoring your health and, if that's the case - do we really need 100 different types of restaurants? Now if the food only recharges you but you can also buy/protect/rob etc. the place - then we're talking about something different and interesting. JoshGTAfreak
Anything that can involve me wasting my money, I'm all for. I would also love a toned down version of SA's body size system. I loved how I made my CJ fat, then hated it, so I constantly went to the gym to fix it. Which basically means, I spent more time playing it. I think the gazillion ways to waste your time in GTA is what makes it great.

mattymcs
It'd be cool if eating places were used more to meet people for missions. Like a contact could ring you up out the blue and ask to meet for a burger (or even a steak), as he has some business to put your way. But it wouldn't be like it would be a set meeting point for that contact, it could be anywhere.
Mainland Marauder
Heimlich Maneuver minigame! I can just see it now, the "help" text popping up in the left corner going "Tap the buttons shown below in order to save the victim from choking." Then you fail, you get a cutscene of the guy turning blue and going limp, then MISSION FAILED! Anything that can involve me wasting my money, I'm all for. Every GTA tends to fall into this same crack - the idea is to do this and steal that and rise to power and amass ridiculous amounts of money......but for what? GTA3 was probably the worst about it, but they all suffered from this in the end. At least in SA there were meaningful purchases like the airstrip, that actually figured into the story. I'm looking for more open-ended ways to do something with the money you build up. "You tell me exactly what you want, and I'll explain to you very carefully why it cannot be." Lelouch The Zero
How about the option to buy groceries for your house, and you could cook at home. I know it sounds very Sim-Like, but it would make the game a lot more realistic IMO. hell how about an option to Steal things out of there, like pizzas, or milk. and you could use the milk to spill on the ground and make the guards slip onto the floor, would be awesome! mattymcs
As for the businesses, I want loads of businesses to buy that help you build money up. Each one could have missions that set up the income. I.e. for a clothes shop one mission could have you breaking into a rival shop late at night, and another could have you trying to recruit a sales manager by doing some type of underhand favour for him, and another could be connected to advertising or something. Some businesses could cost fortunes.. like a million pound nightclub or something. So theres always something to strive to. Oh and mansions to buy of course. Mainland Marauder
Just seemed more convenient than buying and wasting cash. Problem was in those games, there wasn't a whole lot to do with your cash. Maybe VC with the assets you could buy. In GTA3, money was completely and utterly meaningless. It ended up being that way, more or less, in IV too. "You tell me exactly what you want, and I'll explain to you very carefully why it cannot be."
