Mapping Los Santos! Building/landmark analysis

Recommended Posts

I'm sure most things have been discovered and commented here in this epic thread in the past. But the amount of architectural and landmark discoveries I could, and have explored in a very short time, and enjoyment and fresh aspect on the map I have now, discovering real signs of real life "Los Angeles" using this new tool, it's something I thought I would need a PC to ever experience.

Anyway I'll leave a link here for those console players looking to explore the map easy, untethered, with more viewing freedom then ever possible. This really gives you a new perspective and makes the map feel tiny while exploring. If you don't want to watch the video, I understand, in short, activate Creator Mode, Photo Mode Fly off and enjoy. Watch the video if you need more help

Hello and happy holidays.
I need help from those who know of neighborhoods and districts in los santos.
My question?? Vinewood is a district ??
and if true, West Vinewood, east Vinewood, Dowton Vinewood and serious hawich neighborhoods and would belong to Vinewood ??
if anyone can help, thank you and if you have a map with the best districts.
Happy Holidays

Hello all, I was listening to some song on Youtube and stumbled across this :

fIITWG4.jpg?1

(Eminem - My name is)

So I looked at the map and the Vanilla Unicorn don't have a pin on it, and searching on the topic, but it seems it still don't have his real life counterpart.

In-game : The Vanilla Unicorn

So I think I found it (the entrance, the columns and the statues look alike), but it don't have the same facade anymore:

IRL: The Star Strip Gentlemen's Club in 2015

Location: (https://www.google.fr/maps/place/The+Star+Strip+Gentlemen's+Club/@34.077958,-118.3769204,20z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xa47242951488eb8c)

This is very interesting.

When going back to the 2007-2010 imagery, the facade looks a lot like the Vanilla Unicorn.

The entrance especially looks almost identical.

Definitely our best look alike for the strip club so far. Good spotting Mister P :)

hello people , this seeing something on the map and I think there is a mistake . Elgin House, which according to us is based on Mondrian Hotel, seems incorrect, it compare with Wilshire House 10601 Wilshire Blvd, is very similar , it's like the Wilshire House what copiacen and sticking to one side , as a step with Aon Center, you guys think ??

accurate, you have to fix the map, which says that Elgin House Vinewood is the Mondrial Hotel

hey guys, I'm with my mapping of the districts, I need help with something, I upload the photo that is how it is supposed to Vinewood district.

ReD: bordering other districts

What you see with yellow stripes, is the area which desconosco their true limit, for example Hawick and Alta, and the block between Las Lagunas Blvd and Alta St

Found a new one by the airport :

Ingame : N.O.O.S.E. Building at LSIA

IRL : FAA Building, Center Way, LAX

IRL, that FAA Building is located at the base of the LAX Control Tower.

In game, R* put it on the other side of the domed restaurant.

There are some differences but I'm pretty sure it's the correct building.

Rockstar designers were definitely inspired by it but added their personnal touch.

I just moved to LA a week ago and playing this game now is such a trip. They condensed this city A LOT but the parts they did include are nearly all real life LA. Just commuting to work or driving in LA now I'm noticing so many things that are in GTA. Just today I drove past that giant yellow shopping center by LS customs and the other day driving down Santa Monica blvd I saw the "life invader" building and it is just like the real thing where SM blvd splits into two. (SM blvd and SM blvd south... they even named the two streets correctly in-game) I play the game now like its nearly real life. They completely f*cking nailed LA in this game for how much they simplified the city.

The roads are also super wide in LA for the most part, unlike alot of cities, so thats another reason why theres so much "road" in GTAV.

My first post here in a while. Being nostalgic. I'm always visiting GTAForums, but couldn't help and stop past here. This thread is still the best one on the whole board (no disrespect to others!). I love visiting to see what Vinewood Hills houses get spotted in reality, or to simply note the personal touches Rockstar have made to the real-life world.

Even though it's approaching two and a half years since Los Santos first graced our screens, it remains mind blowing just how much brilliance is behind the game world of GTA V. I feel like I've been to LA already. I feel like I've walked the California Incline, jogged through Palisades Park and soaked up the atmosphere of Hollywood Boulevard.

It's these little things (or are they quite big?) that make me thankful of not only the effort by Rockstar to create such an immersive place, but everyone in this thread, especially Fido. Be proud!

LS definitely has the overall feel of LA down better than any other game featuring LA, thats for sure. But LS is maybe 1/50th of the entire LA.

I hiked Griffith park the other day and took some pics. Later I played GTA to see how similar it is in the game. The trail itself is completely different and MUCH smaller than the real trail but I couldnt believe they included such a small thing to make it relatable. If you cant see, they put that huge water drum in the game.

Oh man... I can't wait for another thread like this for GTA 6 or even a V map addition.

Oh lord that's gonna be epic. I'll definitely try to be a part of it too. Hopefully everybody from this thread comes back when that time comes. :)

@edwardjeria:

It's off topic but I've made comparisons IRL/IG in other games : Assassin's creed Unity and Syndicate, Watch Dogs, Fallout 4, Mafia 3 etc.

Take a look at my posts in this topic about Mafia 3 in GTANF forum ( in french ), my username is Master Nawak there.

Anyone know what the GTA V Grove Street equivalent IRL is (w/ pics maybe)?

I live in Los Angeles, but I don't think they based it on any street in specific, as there are countless similar streets. I miss the version from San Andreas though.

Anyone find Lester's house?

We've found Lester's warehouse/clothing factory, but not his house in El Burro Heights or the house he gives Franklin in Vinewood Hills.

This is his warehouse. It's real life address is 635 Mateo St Los Angeles.

We're still looking for these other two houses though.

The house Lester gives to Franklin in Vinewood Hills.

If you want to have a look for yourself, I'd suggest to search every street in this area 1st. Let us know how you get on. :D

I've seen Lester's warehouse in real life even before the game came out (along with most landmarks in the game). It's a huge satisfaction though when they replicate more obscure "landmarks" like his warehouse. But I know the Mateo area pretty well as I've shot movies there.

Pretty sure about 90-95% of the buildings and structures in V are replicated.
