Hey all! My name's Craig, and I'm a freelance games writer. I'm putting together a piece on you guys and the length you went to in order to map Los Santos. I've already spoken to Fido, and he suggested that I talk to some of you in particular (I've sent out PMs) but I just thought I'd put a general call here. I'm looking to chat with people about the mapping/building spotting process and why you do it, what you get out of it etc.

I'm particularly keen in getting to grips with how you figured out the countryside.

PM me if you're interested and I can explain a bit more

No wonder she's lost! That map is way out

It's actually a good reproduction of this style of tourist map from days gone by

120957.jpg

In the V map you can see Mt Josiah and Mt Chilliad are viewed horizontally while the city is seen from a birds-eye view like the original style.

Does Los Santos look like Los Angeles ?

No ! In L.S. everything is different:

Venice beach : Windward Avenue- Pacific Avenue

Well... As said Nico "life is complicated":

I have a son... a kind of Jimmy (Michael's son)... a FPS player too (he usually plays Call of Duty)... however he's a good kid... And now he becomes a GTA fan. So we share the Playstation and the game.

An advice: don't have kids!

@ lxr.

Don't laugh, but I actually take a photo of the TV screen.

My kids normally get on the PS3 when they get home from school, so during the day I drove around Chumash & took a photo of all the houses & buildings in the area.

That way I can still locate things while they are playing.

I was sitting on the coffee table yesterday with the controller in one hand & a camera in the other, just snapping away.

My wife walked in, took one look at what I was doing, then shook her head in disgust, mumbled something about being obsessed, then walked out. :D

The sad part is, when my kids went to bed, I still continued to look for more houses rather than actually play the game.

Those two comments actually made my day ;)

And goes to show that R* really knows their target demographic when they included Michael in the game.

Koreatown - The Abbey Building (Sunshine Apartments)

Koreatown - Denny's (Taco Bomb)

My best guess for this "Airang Plaza" building is The Brown Derby. It's not really close but the parking garage is spot-on.

The Abbey Building is a perfect match. :^:

I'm not sure about the Airang Plaza either. Maybe a hybrid of a couple different buildings.

I think Fido found the Denny's (Taco Bomb) from the Chameleon screenshot a few weeks ago. No cookie. :D

Oh, must have forgotten. No worries. Yeah, Airang Plaza is an amalgamation of a couple of buildings.

Santa Monica, crossroad of Arizona Street and 3rd Avenue promenade: 301 Arizona

It's the fourth building of this crossroad in Santa Monica, the others were already identified by Fido

301arizona.jpg

It's also one of both buildings seen in the "bouncing" scene of the second trailer, the second is the Trastevere restaurant already found by Mrthingus.

Trastevere on Santa Monica and 3rd, making appearance as the Nutaski restaurant.

Whats the point in still mapping stuff? Its just a massive waste of time. This thread should be locked. More fun and informative threads get locked or deleted all the time.

Not sure if this one has been identified before or not.

I don't think so. Good find. I was looking at the area yesterday, trying to find the blue apartment building that Barry lives in and the big black one at the other side of the street.
