site updated

Excellent new (official) video here.

Edit: These two are new too... but the one above is probably the most interesting.

Yo guys !

So here is probably the last update I'll do to my map.

At least in term of drawing roads, geographical features, trails, etc...

I'll continue adding buildings and landmarks as we locate them once we have the game.

So here it is :

9738450286_7e4ec4aa31_b.jpg

As you can see, it's almost the same thing as the real deal so my map is kinda pointless now.

But, it was fun making this with you guys.

It was a fun way to pass the time that's for sure !

I hope our community can continue working together in GTA Online come October 1st !

I'll be online for sure ! ;)

Looks to me like we can visit it anytime, look at background, the vinewoods hills are there and so is chilliad.24brvrn.jpg

I think that the mountains line up with the ones on the Welcome to Grapeseed Picture from the view finders. They are not 100% because the angle of the shot is slightly different - but they are close.

Trust me, this is NOT on the main map. Even if you'd argue that the vegetation looks vaguely similar to Grapeseed, and the hills on the horizon vaguely similar to Reservoir Hill (left) and Vinewood Hill (right)... you wouldn't be seeing them in the east-southeast.

Yes, North Yankton looks large. I assume it's not a timed mission, so four days from now, you can just take a ride and find out what's there.

Just had a thought on this - in GTA SA - the area that you play when you went back to liberty city was actually in the same game space as the main map - you just could not get there without going under the map I think.

R* Could have used the actual GTA V map - say the distant mountains to create the background for the North Yankton Mission.

Yes its not on the map as such.

But they could have used the background to make what is basically a small strip of road and a building look like its in the middle of a large area. otherwise they would have had to make it really foggy so you could not see that far.

Maybe when GTA Online becomes available it will be one of the next sections to be unlocked - maybe its already available in Online play.

Been following this topic since day 1 and it has made the wait much more entertaining over the past 2 years. The main contributors deserves massive praise for their efforts. By far the best thread on the forum.

Once we get the game this Tuesday, I hope this thread continues active by locating buildings in game and compare it to the RL counterpart, I think it should be fun to map.

Well done, Mappers.

You champions of cartography,

You geniuses of geography,

You who worked harder and smarter than any other thread.

You've filled our heads with knowledge and our hearts with wonder.

may us all behold the fruits of your labor come tuesday

I bid thee a thanks, and a farewell

I must be travelling on now

There's just too many places I've got to see
