Ignaz, I really appreciate what you've done for this thread but please, stop reacting to these guys. That's exactly what they want.

Thanks for your word´s and i have choosen after this thing that i will leave after this day the forum for the next day´s to do stuff around my house, because autumn appears and i have a lot of stuff to do arround my house also i have 2 kids, a better half and a small shop to run in business. And the most importend thing is to get off the hype arround the game to enjoy it on the 17th.

I dont think you will get the achievement for robbing 24/7 or Liquorshops. 1. I can´t see 20 liquor shops/or signs for it. 2. Why rob a liquor shop (they mostley armed) when there are a helitours, restaurants, strip/nightclub or a cab co.. 3. Nothing says you can own them and also rob them. We also have insureance for cars. First rob they, then get cash from insurance.

I'm just posting this because you asked. Clearly, Rockstar intend for us rob liquor stores. How do I know this (besides the achievement)?

"Clearly, Rockstar intend for us rob liquor stores." Yes thats true. But not for the Storyline. That statement is for the GTA-Online ;) so went up from this theorie and i´m pretty sure there are more then 20 24/7 an liquor stores to rob and the achievement say´s "all 20 stores"

here is what i have come up with on the scale, please correct me if im wrong, i took the map scale of 3000ft and made a square in photoshop the same length as the scale and then equally the same height, making the square equal to 3000x3000ft. Then i copied and pasted the square to make a grid accross the map and then added everything up. This is what i got

e57bmJO.jpg

Change those squares to 2000ft, most of the 1st 1/3 of the scale is cut off the side of the photo.

Isn't that 61 sq miles according to that calculation? 6.81 X 9.09 = 61.9 basically 62 sq miles. But I'm not sure how he got that. What is the most accurate one as of now?

I don't believe for a second there's only one darts place and no bowling alleys

I would've preferred air hockey over darts.

The GTAVoclock guys just mentioned there would be POKER.. they werem't supposed to talk about it but thats what I picked up

we know there will be casinos and Poker would be a fun idea if you can wager things like cars if you run out of money

I'm sorry, Ignaz, I'm just not understanding your point, but I know you mean well. You've been a good contributor to this thread. All we know for sure is that the achievement is a Campaign Achievement (the GTA Online achievements are marked as such), and it involves robbing 20 stores. I think the sticky wicket is the definition of the word "stores," on which we are unclear. Does it include Liquor Stores? Clothing Stores? Barber Shops? Tattoo Parlors? Ammunations? If you count up all the GREEN icons, there are way more than 20. Therefore, there is some other definition for what a "store" is, relative to the achievement. Seems to me that the idea of Liquor Stores being within that definition isn't that much of a stretch, since we know liquor stores are...robbable. Hold-uppable?

At any rate, I know we'll both enjoy the game. I'm already starting to feel sick ahead of the sick day I'll be taking from work in 6 days. Cheers! :)

Most of that scale is missing from the picture. All you can go by is the span from 2,000 ft to 3,000 ft, which is about 77 px. That makes the map about 7.85 by 10.45 km, which is quite a bit smaller than your result.

(Needless to say, "the map" will be larger, as the image above is cut off somewhat arbitrarily. There will be distinct underwater territory outside that rectangle.)

Ah i did not notice that, thanks

What do u think?

I've tried to compare some screenshots with the leaked map.

Then i notice the Vinewood-sign screen.

808010135.png13788220179999954.jpgZoom.png

In my mind this screen is a appropriate comparison.

You can recognize everything. The "V" (1.) itself, the gravel road with cars (2.), the small path on the opposite of the crossroad (3.), the cross roadway (4.), the hill (5.) and the edge of town (6.). (For a better comparison you have to rotate the map for 180° because the screenshot is made in that perspective.)

From the "V" to the gravel road with the cars its approx. 300meters.

If you open Paint and mark the position behind the "V", you'll get a heightcoordinate of 1115px.

Now draw a straight line to the left turn on the gravel road, you'll get a heightcoordinate of 1046px. That mean the skyway from 1. to 2. is 69px = approx. 300m.

Start1.pngZiel1.png

Now if u mark the northest and southest point on the map, you'll get the coordinates 40px and 2325px.

Start2.pngZiel2.png

40px-2325px = -2285px

69px = 300m

1px = 4,34m

2285px = 9934,78m

So i calculate a straight skyway of 9934,78meter from the northest to the southest point of the map

What do you think about that? plausible or to wack?

greets vicoSun

I had the playable area at about 35 square miles. I had the length of the map and playable water as 37000ft and the width as 26000ft. Thats 11.3km x 8km or 7miles x 5miles or 35square miles/90 square kilometres. This was using the scale on the map

This doesn't look quite right. Now it could be a picture/scanning issue, but the shadows behind some icons are not there, while others just look inconsistent. Also, are there no Pay 'n Sprays?

EDIT: Nevermind. The actual picture from the magazine a few pages back looks better.

the pay and sprays have been replased with LS customs

waiting for a reliable measurement...

At first glance it looks HUGE. Thats just the landmass from above without all the hills and mountains and we all know that we can dive as well.

Wished we could compare it to just cause 2 but we don't have the exact data so it wouldn't be fair.

This doesn't include the playable water area, but that is spot on for land i guess.

Does anyone know how big the desert is? It doesn't look that big.

Is this the right place to ask about the desert-size, or should I ask it in the LS size-topic?

So if the area is indeed 62 sq miles = 100 km, then we can draw radiuses around areas in the real world and compare it...

pi * r^2 = 100

r = sqrt(100/pi)

r = 5,64 km

just wanted to rant here, because its map related. Im sick of topics and people questioning the Map size, from the quote that it'll be bigger than RDR, San Andreas and IV combined. these people need to take into acount the scale, rather than area. As you can see in that previously posted map comparison on youtube.

anyway we got 4 days to see the proof and then we can finally see the map in its entirety.....phew!

map looks awsome though (from leaked image)

If you look at the gif of the zoom in on Trevor from the gameplay trailer, it zooms right to the border of light green and yellow and it looks like desert all around. I'm guessing the yellow section is just a harsher desert area representative of death valley perhaps.

so if san andreas is 13,8 square miles, then it means that the gta v map is only 4 square miles bigger ? So San Andreas Map = GTAV Los Santos + Los Santos County + Senora Desert ?

Interesting about the numbers.

I think they represent bus stop and train stop for black and red respectively. You can see the red routes seem like train routes while the black dots are placed at random points in the city.

One thing I'm confused about: Chumash and North Chumash, I mean they're so far apart, in fact they're in different counties!

I guess if the entire west coast is like the region of Chumash or something idk

Is North Chumash actually a village? You can buy a property there it seems.
