Don't you think "Hold up 20 stores" means "rob 20 (liquor & 24/7) stores"? I don't think it means "own 20 properties" ...

 

Also the achievement is called "stick-up" kid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stickup).

 

 

I dont think you will get the achievement for robbing 24/7 or Liquorshops. 1. I can´t see 20 liquor shops/or signs for it. 2. Why rob a liquor shop (they mostley armed) when there are a helitours, restaurants, strip/nightclub or a cab co.. 3. Nothing says you can´t own them and also rob them. We also have insureance for cars. First rob they, then get cash from insurance.

 

 

I'm looking at the semantics. The name for the achievement "stick up kid" and the way it says "hold up 20 stores". Both wikipages link to: Robbery - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stickup & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holdup

I don't think it would make sense to rob our own places, as we know one of them is

an airport hangar

(who are you expecting to rob there?).

 

You don't see signs for atm's either on the map, yet we know they are there. Also, there's a second leaked map floating around from the game guide and it shows different markers (no legend so far), who knows how many more seperate maps there are... which in turn could display the ones which might be missing now.

 

Airport hangar: I pay a employed guy and he fly with the duster for a fee over the fields. Also the sign can switch when you own this props. So the $ goes to a stripclub or the hangar turns to a hillbilly flightschool.

In VC We had cardealerships to make money. In SA we had the airstrip where we collected money. Why not again?

So at this point the discuss is over. I have my point of view and a lot of arguments, you have your point and your arguments that fit not with my ones so let´s stop spamming the great mapping thread or get in PM mode.

Backlot City is Culver City. Although Paramount is not in Culver City, it makes sense since the Paramount in GTA V is there.

here is what i have come up with on the scale, please correct me if im wrong, i took the map scale of 3000ft and made a square in photoshop the same length as the scale and then equally the same height, making the square equal to 3000x3000ft. Then i copied and pasted the square to make a grid accross the map and then added everything up. This is what i got

Most of that scale is missing from the picture. All you can go by is the span from 2,000 ft to 3,000 ft, which is about 77 px. That makes the map about 7.85 by 10.45 km, which is quite a bit smaller than your result.

 

(Needless to say, "the map" will be larger, as the image above is cut off somewhat arbitrarily. There will be distinct underwater territory outside that rectangle.)

If there's one thing I've learned lately on this thread, it's that metric and imperial are reaaaaaally confusing for some people. Also, apparently, there are people who think that 1000, 2000, 5000 is a logical order.

I think your squares are wrong. You don't see the squares in your pic but you do see the 3,000 feet markers. When comparing that with the 3,000 feet scale in the left bottom corner your 3,000 feet square actually looks smaller than the scale and that can't be right. Also, keep in mind that a part of the scale is cut off, making the line smaller than what is actually 3,000 feet.

 

The best way to calculate the map size is by using only a part of the scale you can completely see, like from 2,000 to 3,000 feet. So create 1,000 feet squares and then come back with the measurement.

 

Another reason why your measurement just doesn't seem right is because I have seen other measurements which came out at around 30 square miles whereas your size is 61 square miles.

I'm just posting this because you asked. Clearly, Rockstar intend for us rob liquor stores. How do I know this (besides the achievement)?

Change those squares to 2000ft, most of the 1st 1/3 of the scale is cut off the side of the photo.

I had the playable area at about 35 square miles. Thats obviously very rough. I had the length of the map and playable water as 37000ft and the width as 26000ft. Thats 11.3km x 8km or 7miles x 5miles or 35square miles/90 square kilometres.
