Mapping Los Santos! Building/landmark analysis

It's so hard not to study the map. I originally told myself I would only glance at it, but now that it's here I can't control myself...

I feel so guilty

Hahaha! This is exactly my situation.

 

I truly believed that I would not allow myself to look at the map before I got the game. And now here I am.

 

I stared at it all day. I feel sick to my stomach, but I just.. can't.. stop. It hurts so good.

So the legend confirms the property for sale, with that we can work out that unless this doesn't show all property for sale.We cannot buy anything in Malibu.

I don't think the icons on the map are the last word with regards to buyable properties. They may be incomplete, refer to garages, businesses, or whatever. Not all of the icons (like, for example, many of the parachute locations) make sense. Remember that, as zombie elvis has pointed out, even the official blueprint map (as depicted by R*) has all subway lines and tunnels off by about 1/3 of a kilometer. So this guide doesn't have to be 100% correct or complete either.Exactly.

Gotta remember that "property" & "safe house" are two different things.

I would say those are the places to enter hunting challenges or missions, but you can hunt without entering those missions.

They probably just give you money or upgrade your skills.

Either that or just a starting place for various hunting missions.

We have always had car collecting missions in GTA. There was only one icon on the map, even though there were dozens of cars to collect.

I don't think there are hunting shops.

You get your stuff from the ammunation stores....the sign reads "hunting"

If you mean UCLA I'm pretty sure its in Morningwood which is likely based on Westwood, Los Angeles. Hopefully the Playboy Mansion is there too and that's the property we can buy there

 

Does anybody else think that Bay City (Long Beach) is the lower part of the area named East Los Santos?? It appears that some of the smaller districts such as Hawick are not named so I'm thinking there could be more neighbourhoods than we see on the map.

One thing to note is 115 Bay City Avenue, described as overlooking the marina.

Someone reckoned the helipad and bar was only for sale down there, so in the marina area I see no property.

Either way I don't care this game is the most ambitious GTA ever, biggest list of features in a GTA game.

 

The properties for sale will probably just be businesses - houses are done via the internet?!

You are correct sir, I've got so wound up trying to help others realise that the icons are not safe houses, that when I seem the legend I overlooked what I had been saying.

 

E.g 115 bay city avenue from the gameplay trailer I remember.

 

I've made a few posts previously about the hangar on an airfield that you can buy, its an acheivement, only airfield with a property for sale sign next to the strip/runway would be the new grass/dirt strip up at Grapeseed.

 

So yeah you must be correct.

There is a hunting sign right next to highway 1 in the Chilad Mountain State Wilderness.

I think the Hunting icon will move around.

 

Its bounty place with the fat woman. Or maybe place where you sell scalps and dead animals.

 

You can hunt animals anywhere.

This doesn't look quite right. Now it could be a picture/scanning issue, but the shadows behind some icons are not there, while others just look inconsistent. Also, are there no Pay 'n Sprays?

 

EDIT: Nevermind. The actual picture from the magazine a few pages back looks better.

Where's NORTH YANKTON THEN? Come one... nice work.. BUT where is it? I don't see any sign of it on the north side of the map and I can't see any snow. Weird.

It's mission-specific or a cutscene most likely.

 

Who says North Yankton isn't a place you can travel to. There is an airport and it looks like it can be entered. So as a passenger, you can fly to North Yankton, go skiing, snowboarding, etc.

Well... compared to TDU2, yeah, it's only few houses... but compared to another GTA it's a properties paradise!

 

 

It is good that this map is here. In comparison there may be something to mention. There is a race that takes place in TDU that is also on this map ( Atari is a F- junk ) that takes 49 minutes with a GTR Mercedes Benz. Every try, every win, 49 minutes. Just as a comparison in how long it may take drive the circumference of GTA V's map.

Don't know, but... being able to travel the full map by bus? I guess the overall expectation is that the buses stay within the limits of Los Santos. But yeah, it looks like P_L_T_ ___ to me.
