Mapping Los Santos! Building/landmark analysis

My version of the perspective from the trailer and the new Helicopter screenshot. In case someone didn't saw it in the July 12 thread

A little speculation based on the two images I posted earlier:

 

If the building in the distance is indeed the Bay Cities Guaranty Building and not the LAX Control Tower as I originally expected, that must mean that LAX is even further to the left of Bay Cities. With the Marina City Club buildings near that as well, one can assume that a Marina Del Rey-like harbor would also be there. Meaning, that LAX is even further to the left, almost directly in the center of the helicopter screenshot (at the top of course). Yet we see nothing but fog there. Since LAX is almost certainly somewhere there abouts I think the map extends further than that and it's just obscured by the fog (ie. out of the draw range). That would allow room for Rancho Palos Verdes, a rich hill-top community and LAX.

It's too far to the left to be LAX (they might shift some areas around but I doubt they'd put a landmark like that far from the RL location). If it is a hangar it's part of Long Beach Airport. I doubt R* would put two airports that close to each other. It's been suggested that it's the Los Angeles Forum (a stadium) makes more sense as it's close to there IRL.

We have not seen South Central Los Santos, Eastern Los Santos, barely got a glimpse of the San Gabriel-San Fernando area, nor have we seen Orange County or the Vinewood Hills. Saying Los Santos is small without seeing all of it is completely unfair.

yes, but despite this western LS doesn't look so large

I kind of thought the opposite, West Los Santos looks small, but everything else remains to be seen and doesn't look that small to me.

 

Oh and by the way your map is nice I think I-5 continues next to the Beverly Center though. The highway looks like it will be really long too.

That's inconsistent.

 

The building in brown on both screenshots is the same building. The helicopter appears to be at a higher altitude, and the only building that close to BH City Hall that is tall enough to be that close to the helicopter is the one I labeled in brown. I'm 100% certain of this.

Yeah, you're right. I knew the other guy's positioning was way off. Also it'd make sense for Rockstar to be as far off as close to the mountains as possible to make the city appear as large as perspective allows. Also note the higher field of vision in the released screen. This is to make the city appear larger as well.

I'd just like to say that there is still a massive amount of Los Santos we still haven't seen. There is also still the countryside that we have seen barely any of.

sadly that doesnt stop people from speculating. just wait. there gonna release new screens soon that show off the games size and there all going to be speechless

I just hope they don't show anymore of West Los Santos so it'll still look new when we go through there. R* should show a bit more of East Los Santos, but near ground level, and some of South Los Santos, which I have no clue what that looks like.

 

I would love it if R* took a shot from the Griffith Observatory proving the size of LS will be big.

Well, talking about the Observatory, I found it very close to the beach, and it's on the other side of the city. Just shows how small the city is.

its not a proof, in san andreas griffith observatory was just behind the sea. they can put the observatory where they want

I don't think so. It's based on some building in LA. RG won't add buildings from one city to another

^^^ Of course they won't put a NYC tower in Los Santos.

I was just pointing out that these two buildings are almost identical.

And by the way, I've been looking for this tower in Beverly Hills, Wilshire, Downtown and Santa Monica and didn't find a single one that could be a match.
