There is definitely a town in the north east (nipton/north yankton) for sure, because why else would there be a road out there? It would not make sense at all to just have a road go around the mountain without a destination :x

The road you are talking about goes past the rocket town and then leads into Paleto Bay.

No, Brian you're wrong. There are many roads in SoCal with flat snowy roads. Face it you have as less evidence as I with N. Yankton's location. Plus, N. Yankton is a region, not a town! Don't believe everything you find on a Wiki page, you should know that. All just speculation, nothing true.

I think Stefkes has a point. Notice how the tress suddenly stop around the red outline.

 

 

A little lake at the base of Chilliad by the the bottom tram station is entirely plausible. It could be some kind of a combination between Pal Springs and Big Bear as a mountain resort area.

This is actually a really bad picture too. If you view the video, it looks more like a mountain.

True, but you can plainly see a tunnel going through the mountain in the picture on the last page. If it weren't for the tunnel, I would've thought it was a lake too.

But is it a tunnel ? The only thing that hints at that is that the road stops. It would look the same way if it was a road that stopped at the shore of a lake.

Different vegetation. The rocket town also has a wider road with a median consisting of a bunch of pylons. It is possible that further south there is median with actual dirt but it seems that in the postcard it doesn't show a median but a single road.

Can't say if there's one tunnel or more but it eventually comes out at the tunnel on the right, I think the area seen from the mountain could just be a cliff rather than a lake.

I'd say 99% not a lake.

It's just the steep side of the mountain/hill, that's why there are no trees on it.

Also, it's a railroad, not a normal road, you can even see a railbridge underneath the tracks, which goes into the tunnel.

I believe the tracks come out again on the SW edge of Mt. Chiliad on the Califia Bridge.

 

 

Edit. Also, in the "shed" footage from the GP trailer, you can see the tracks go left at the sawmill/mine, while the road goes to the right of the mill/mine.

Assuming that it's accurate enough, there's a large gap between the "rocket town" and Grapeseed between those 2 mountains. Assuming that the road isn't a straight shot like that, or that it is or whatever, what's stopping a small 60 person population town like Nipton from being the North Yanktown depicted in the postcard lying somewhere either along this route, are around a bend in one of those 2 mountains like Tall Trees in Red Dead Redemption?

 

Combined with that fact that the leaked achievement map is actually a little bit bigger in that area than most of the mappers projections, and something could easily fit there.

 

Have we actually seen that area anywhere before somewhere?

Again, NY is a region. So is not located in Bland County.

looking at the still image to can see that what appears to be a tunnel coming out leading to the bridge from underneath the selected area.

the moving image shows of the gradient too. the road above the selected area is high up above the bridge forming a ridge.

 

I have marked these points out in Green on the image below.

There is an area near to it which appears undefined which I marked out in red. this area has a building in its center. it is a large flat area, you guys may already know what it is. (I'm new so go easy)

I recall seeing a part of the road in the latest blueprint of the north with a connection to the north of Grapeseed but I don't recall seeing any other town. Unfortunately I don't know where this blueprint can be found. I remember it showed on the mobile site of rockstargames in the pre-orders or something but I don't know the URL to it. It was posted in here somewhere as well but yea, I don't want to search for it currently in this long thread (it should be recent enough but still).

possibly, I watched that bit again but I wasn't sure.

there is a mountain range to Franklin's right and he could only be looking away from the bridge as there is no bridge visible from Franklin's viewpoint
