Mapping Los Santos! Building/landmark analysis

Fido do you plan on adding the detail (as poor as it is) of the Map behind Michael in the scene with Franklin and disabled guy discussing the Jewel Heist to yours?

Longer answer : I would really love too but it is way too small.

I see a few roads around Vinewood but they're really hard to see and there are

no specific points I could use to put those roads in relation to the map.

I eventually could but it would be too imprecise and I'm pretty sure I'd have to

erase and redraw everything again^^

I was playing around with that map yesterday. There's not really anything new to add, but may as well post these anyway.

90% of the detail was done straight from the map on the wall. The rest was added in after looking back & forth at the blueprint map.

The bottom section around the docks was hard to do, as you can see by the road going THROUGH the LS Forum.

 

 

 

Fido, one thing I did notice was that your map wasn't exactly the same as the blueprint map.

No matter how much I tried to stretch & shape the wall map, I couldn't get the Northern freeway to line up with yours.

Both maps seemed to be out of alignment in different places.

My theory about North Yankton is that it isn't in game. We already know that the story will start with only one of the protagonists (Michael), probably with an intro like they did with San Andreas to tell us about his background and why he moved to LS most likely from North Yankton. Just like in the beginning of GTA San Andreas with CJ in LC we will probably see North Yankton only in a cut scene. So there will be nothing to map, just my two cents.

It is at the north of the map. its fecking huge. and has a samll town called paleto on one side of it. It is one of a few mountains in the game.

I agree, many people ( mainly kids ) are moaning that its too small. Its going to be absolutely huge, it looks big from the skies can you imagine how it will feel when on foot.

 

And it will be full of life and things to do which is the most important.

 

Its beyond a game now, its a full living world R* are amazing

Could you post one with toned down lighting? I think I can identify the Griffith's Observatory and Hollywood Reservoir area partially based on knowledge of the

blueprint map and the newer parachuting over the Zancudo image. Mostly because of our previous Route 68 discussion about the two roads that go into Los Santos after the Sue Murry sign but before the Pacific Coast Highway.

Liberty City was in San Andreas in the same way Canada probably will be in V.

 

That's the only logical explanation, or seasons, which is also likely. It is far less likely there will be an ISLAND full of SNOW along the sun-drenched coast of California/Los Santos. It just doesn't happen. Stop clinging onto hope that there will be "another island". We have seen most of the map now, there might be sections of it we haven't seen but there will be nothing of significance. Just face the facts and you will avoid disappointment come September 17. It's obvious - You are in denial of how small you think the map is...

 

If you haven't noticed, this is a MAPPING and ANALYSIS thread. Using evidence and resources that is available to us. The mappers do not map with gut instinct, faith, or the vision of how the map might look like. The goal of this thread is to map the locations we can see in screenshots where possible. At the moment - North Yankton is too vague and is pure speculation territory. Take your ideas somewhere else, you're in the wrong thread.

He spent a lot of time making this map and many people agree with the theory he puts forward. It time for people to destroy the hierarchy and think outside the box. Postcards and leaked information points to it being in game and a island makes sense.

He spent 20 seconds making that piece of crap.

This topic is for mapping & discussing things that we can actually map.

No mappers like Wayne Kerr (and some non-mappers) simply want people to shut up about North Yankton in this thread because it can't even be mapped. This is not a thread for people to post their imaginative maps based on zero visual evidence. North Yankton should be a no-go in this thread until there is actually something that can be mapped because speculation with no visual evidence derails this thread way too much.

 

Anyway, your latest picture doesn't really show the difference between GTA SA's and GTA 5's map size since it is not too scale. People who believe the map to be small won't be convinced otherwise until they get to play the game and even then they can still feel the map is small. It is all subjective what someone thinks of the map's size.

@Kindled That map of V is a very old one, also fan made, so not a 100% accurate representation. Also just because there's more water in it than the map of San Andreas, gives you the illusion that it's smaller. The scale would be much larger if you zoom in further...

 

I'm sure if V's map was divided into seperated islands, people wouldn't think the map was so small.... it's just an illusion. You'll see on Sept 17.

Could we just stop replying to him? We only have like 16 days and the map will more than likely surface by tuesday if not earlier. North Yankton is not an island. And it will be a great "told you so" moment
