Liberty City was in San Andreas in the same way Canada probably will be in V.

 

That's the only logical explanation, or seasons, which is also likely. It is far less likely there will be an ISLAND full of SNOW along the sun-drenched coast of California/Los Santos. It just doesn't happen. Stop clinging onto hope that there will be "another island". We have seen most of the map now, there might be sections of it we haven't seen but there will be nothing of significance. Just face the facts and you will avoid disappointment come September 17. It's obvious - You are in denial of how small you think the map is...

 

If you haven't noticed, this is a MAPPING and ANALYSIS thread. Using evidence and resources that is available to us. The mappers do not map with gut instinct, faith, or the vision of how the map might look like. The goal of this thread is to map the locations we can see in screenshots where possible. At the moment - North Yankton is too vague and is pure speculation territory. Take your ideas somewhere else, you're in the wrong thread.

When we see some physical evidence, then it can be discussed & mapped on here.

Something of that size is way to big. This would be a more realistic map.

He spent a lot of time making this map and many people agree with the theory he puts forward. It time for people to destroy the hierarchy and think outside the box. Postcards and leaked information points to it being in game and a island makes sense.

I think we have to concede the likely possibility that this North Yankton is going to be a mission-specific location, its hard to see where R* are hiding this freezing cold snowy environment from all we've seen of the map so far ..and besides, Canada just isn't that close to LA is it..?

North Yanktown IS in the game, but where it is located i'm not sure. My hunch is that it is located outside the map and only available through a plane ride or something similar in nature. I'm not sure it's even available in free roam but I feel like R* wouldn't make and release postcards about it wasn't, not only that but the time required to develop all the geography, buildings, peds and vehicles to populate it would be basically wasted.

The theoretical discussion about the existence or whereabouts of North Yankton does not belong here.

This topic is for mapping & discussing things that we can actually map.

If you had been on this thread for more than 1 day, you would also know that discussing or showing anything regarding the leaked information is not allowed, regardless whether it's correct or not.

Judging by the Aug/13 join date you weren't around for the January delay announcement. Late 2012 R* announced a spring 2013 release and then made an announcement that the official box art release would be in January. Then an information blackout and no info. January 31st hits and instead of a cover art unveal we got a delay and R* said don't complain on the newswire or get banned. I don't blame them at all for delaying the game if need be, but don't do a bait and switch and then act like a child about criticisms.

I have joined in late July and I have been following GTA 5 since November 2011.Maybe the guy whom you responded to did and does the same.

It has been fun reading and following this thread, but of late it appears to be descending into a tirade of insults and frustration, possibly due to the imminent release and therefore the end of the speculation and analysing that we have enjoyed. In the coming days I suspect we may see a map leak, of which we will not be allowed to discuss, how that will be handled here remains to be seen.

 

Sadly, we are coming to the end of this threads life, I for one will miss it, whilst I have not posted in it, following it has become a bit of a routine.

 

A big thank you to all the major contributors, you've helped make the wait for this game much more enjoyable.
