Mapping Los Santos! Building/landmark analysis

For comparison, next to the full map, GTA V is about the same size as San Dianus.. Maybe a little bigger but yeah..

THIS is the map as i would imagine it!! A BIG city with all the hoods and the boarder with a taste of Mexico!! This is the dream map for me, and actually what i kinda imagined when R* first said how HUGE this map will be, so i expected something like this. The map we have seen so far seems dissapointingly small, and there is almost no room for the hood on the map, how small will the "ganton" area be?? And the worst thing is from all the pics and videos we've seen the fan map here on the forum looks pretty accurate, and thats a real shame...

While the map of V is not to scale with real life or this map, it's seriously the most they could do. When they would go bigger, the quality would decrease because they have a fixed number of employees working on the map. They could make this team bigger but this isn't financially rendable because the demand won't grow that much. This is also why I don't see the next gen GTA games getting so much larger than they are now: it just isn't financially possible.

On the highway sign I can see 13 "San" and then something that looks like "?ho". If there is a HQ version of this screenshot then we might be able to make it out.

For that Sandy Shores sign, what is the white surrounding the 12/13 shaped like? I know state road symbols are shaped like the state in some states (ironically California is not one of them) but It doesn't look like the map. Here's an example of one for a Louisiana state road symbol if you didn't get what I said.

All this talk about North Yankton has me wanting to way in.

First off why the hell Canada ?

Anyways, I honestly think its in the game..

I think that R* is just hiding it or there is seasons in the game.

It could be based on Big Bear lake ? or Palm springs ?

Canada is a stupid guess (in my opinion)

If they released all those postcards with real GTA places then why would North Yankton be any different ?

People aren't just " guessing" Canada. Apparently it's in the audio leaks that North Yankton is located in Canada and is where Trevor originally comes from.

 

It seems strange though that they would put a postcard for North Yankton in a travelogue for "Los Santos & Blaine County"

 

If North Yankton is an off-map location, I am suspecting that it could be a reference to the movie Citizen Kane's "Rosebud" mystery. Charles Kane becomes a hugely successful newspaper tycoon but his last whispering words on his deathbed "Rosebud" was revealed to be a reference to a bobsled he owned as a child living with his mother (had the word 'Rosebud' written on it) which was symbolic of a time of pure innocence/the only time in his life he was truly happy... before he got older and became greedy and corrupt.

 

I feel like North Yankton will be a reference as to "the good days" throughout the game, and then towards the end, there could be a huge flashback scenario where we actually play a prequel mission type thing as a younger Trevor/Michael or something.

Do you mean this one? This one is rolled up however and not just shopped onto a template, so you have to adjust that first.

We can see some new roads in the top-right corner of the new map, but nothing major.

 

 

(It's hard to see clearly where the roads go, even on the highest quality version of the trailer, so it's not perfect.)

I saw the map behind Michael in the Official Trailer but It's really hard to see those roads.

That GIF helps a bit but it's still pretty hard to see anything clearly.
