The arch, moulding & metalwork above Michael's head is from Paramount Pictures studio on Melrose Drive.

user posted imageuser posted image

They actually included it! But where the hell could it be? By the looks of it not in Vinewood. Maybe Koreatown? If it's as big in real life they must be hiding it pretty well.

EDIT: Actually, I think it's right here:

user posted image

IRL Paramount Pictures is in studio City which is closer to the 405 which in turn is close to the Getty (right before the 405 leads to the SFV)

Edit: That's sony that is in Studio City, Paramount is in Hollywood.

I think, clearly not. The AT&T building (in micheals abseiling pic) is between two other buildings, the one micheal is on certainly is taller, and very close, no such buildings in that pic, I speculate that CVG got it right by saying control tower...:S

damn yeah that's right about the placement of that tower... but I still don't believe that that's the control tower in my first pic

No. Different structure.

It was discussed a few days ago. It's believed to be the sign for the Los Santos Coliseum.

In the game it's probably called the Maize Bank Arena.

It's definitely not an air-traffic control tower. That would be way off screen to the bottom right.

It closely matches the real life Los Angeles Coliseum sign & is in the right place to be a sign for the Los Santos Arena.

Wow. You're right.

Why don't we all redo the maps & Rockstar's blueprint map.

Let's put a f*cking airport on the freeway.

Read the last page. It CANNOT be an air-traffic tower.

You may think it looks like one, but it is not one. Simple as that.

Edit. Here is the image & map again.

Yeah, it's not the clearest image of the sign.

I think there is another screenshot that shows the same sign. I'll have a dig around & see if I can find it.

The Leprechaun

So, I know I've been harping on about this, but I feel that a further addendum needs to be added.

The meaning of Puerta can be found here: http://www.spanishcentral.com/translate/puerta

The meaning of Puerto can be found here: http://www.spanishcentral.com/translate/puerto

I was talking to a coworker who is a native spanish speaker about the usage of La Puerta versus El Puerto today.

I asked her if La Puerta would likely be used as a synonym for Port, and her response was no, because they'd just use El Puerto. This doesn't change even for gender identification like Puerto Magdalena in Baja California Sur.

She told me that La Puerta would only be used to signify a door, entrance, or gateway.

This same person has never heard the word Paleto, and I assume most of you would never of heard of it unless spanish speaker from Espana.

Why do I bring that up? It's to show that R* knows their spanish and knows that they would try to be accurate and metaphoric in their use spanish in GTA 5.

I asked her specifically if La Puerta would be used as symbol of a Gateway to the World, and she said that is a very good use for La Puerta.

What better way to describe the gateway in the next image as a literal gateway of the Sun, of Puerta Del Sol?

user posted image

And what better way to describe the area just North of LSX as La Puerta, or The Gateway (or The Entrance)? To the city or even the world?

I really want someone to tell me how, after all the evidence and explanation, I could easily be wrong. Additionally, do people really think there are two Del Sols on the same map? Interestingly there is a restaurant in the Gaslamp district called La Puerta, is it not hard to imagine that they went there and remembered the name and combined it the arch and Marina Del Rey. How many arena's are kind of close to Vespucci? Only one that we've seen. This is pretty much overwhelming evidence, all that's missing is a sign with an arrow pointing to the Marina del Rey area saying Puerta Del Sol.

@ The Leprechaun.

I know you've been asking about this a few times, but I can't really help you out.

It's something Fido, zombie elvis & a few of the other regular contributors need to help with. They are a lot better with the city areas.

What you probably need to do is label some of your images with arrows & circles etc. I might be able to help if you can do that.

If you need help with the labels, just PM me & I'll give you a quick rundown of what to do. It's really easy.

Cheers.

Fido_le_muet

@The Leprechaun : Yeah, I believe that Puerta Del Sol on the freeway sign and the "Del Sol" on the San Diego sign

are linked and are probably the same place.

Now, we still don't know if it's really the marina that's called like that but it is very likely.

Still, no confirmation, but it's probably it wink.gif

And by the way, I modified the numbering on the freeways like you said yesterday.

I was indeed wrong with I-5 being East/West.

I understood that it is the North/South freeway that's going to LSX and the harbor.

I updated my map but haven't uploaded it yet wink.gif

And the sign to the right of the screenshot from the previous page IS the LA Forum Sign.

No doubt about it. It's even located near the Maze Bank Arena.

I need to add it on my map by the way.

Fido has basically told me it's speculation, even though there is nearly zero evidence for Marina Del Sol (which is straight up speculation). I've even looked through his Flickr stuff and it has enough evidence to back up what I am talking about.

Additionally, I don't really know how do that, whether or not my computer can do it, and I am not sure if I feel like signing up to a service 2 1/2 weeks before release for a small amount of forum cred. I could post a lot of links to fido's flickr and GTA 5.net's screenshot gallery.

In addition this recent talk of the LA Coliseum's sign has given me one more point of backing evidence.

user posted image

The above image is not in the Airport, because you can see it in the next image.

user posted image

The sign is likely this one.

http://www.trbimg.com/img-51b3d554/turbine...608/600/600x373

Interestingly, this sign is one built to be connected to the Olympic games of 1984 and the East-West Freeway (that I see being called the Olympic Freeway) just south of Downtown LS seems to go directly towards this sign. As the memorial coliseum and the Forum were used for many teams in the the Olympics and in general. Additionally, The Forum is also located just west of the Airport, which is just south of Marina Del Rey, which is just south of Venice. Which is exactly the design I am arguing for Vespucci (Venice), Puerta Del Sol (the Marina), La Puerta (LAX and Century City), and the Maze Bank Arena (Inglewood and Olympic center).

Here is many of the links that are either connected to the Puerta Del Sol region or show the Freeway Interchange between La Puerta Fwy (5) and Olympic Fwy. (unknown even number). (Some may be repeats as my computer doesn't like Flickr for some reason, it took looking after I scanned through GTA 5.net screenshots)

EDIT: Thank you Fido, the reason I am pushing for this so much harder, is that the sign seems to be listing off areas (like Vespucci and the Maze Bank Arena, which is probably an area), which seems to push for the near likelihood that these are regions of Los Santos like Vinewood, Richman, Rockford Hills, Pacific Bluffs, East LS, Paleto Bay, Downtown, and Little Seoul (the last four show a clearer indication on how R* use signs). Basically, the rule on GTA 5 signs seems to be, that unless there is a road (Street, Fwy., Blvd. etc.) mentioned in the sign, the sign indicates a region.
