How the hell can North Vancouver be in the game, wtf

That's what i don't understand, Canada isn't even remotely close to L.A. Maybe there are different rules in GTA universe.

Continental Drift

lol its the same continent tounge.gif haha gave me a good laugh though.

Fido you do need to correct your map's placement of I-5, it is a North-South Freeway as evidenced in the first trailer, as well as all US highways (trust me, I live on that exact highway).

user posted image

This might explain why you don't agree with me about where Puerta Del Sol and La Puerta are. Interestingly, after scanning through your flickr, reviewing the first trailer, and observing many of the screenshots, I can identify 10 to 20 shots of the interchange that shows the sign that says Vespucci, Puerta Del Sol, La Puerta, and Maze Bank Arena. As the only two things between Vespucci and the Arena (as there are none visible to the north) on the west are Marina Del Rey and the Airport and Hotel area before it, I don't see how your placement of Marina del Sol (which has no evidence at all) is particularly applicable. I'm sorry this sounds like b****ing, but I feel your dismissal of what I have surmised (three parts of Los Santos and two Freeways) as speculation, when Marina is a guess and the La Puerta Fwy (I-5) is wrong on your map is a little insulting. I respect you, but I feel I gotta call you on this.

Lastly, Puerta and Puerto are different in their meanings, by the way. As R* has shown me, they know about some pretty obscure Spanish (Paleto, which not one of the 7 or so native spanish speakers I work with have ever heard of). Puerto means port and that is pretty much it's only meaning, where as Puerta means door, gateway, or entrance. Puerta could be used here as a Puerta Del Sol as Gateway of the Sun, which would fit much more with an east or west facing location like Marina Del Rey and not a south facing location like the Port of South Los Santos (which has a Los Santos Marina and Los Santos Docks). La Puerta could easily be the area around the Airport, meaning the Gateway, in reference to it being the area between the city of Los Santos and the Airport.

Yeah, but .. the blueprint map is the base and I bet it is more accurate related to GTA V than the real-life...

Except where you fail to notice that the La (Los in the image) Puerta Fwy has a North and South Direction and the Olypmic Fwy goes East from that interchange (check my earlier posts about Puerta Del Sol). As an additional note, Del Perro Fwy also is an East-West Fwy and it's numbered 2, as well is Route 68 an East-West Fwy, or even 23 South to the Del Perro Fwy.

By the way this is interchange I am talking about (it's where the yellow line is coming from).

The arch, moulding & metalwork above Michael's head is from Paramount Pictures studio on Melrose Drive.

user posted imageuser posted image

They actually included it! But where the hell could it be? By the looks of it not in Vinewood. Maybe Koreatown? If it's as big in real life they must be hiding it pretty well.

EDIT: Actually, I think it's right here:

user posted image

Could be the place Mrthingus.

If we can make out this water tower, we can call it confirmed.

user posted image

Someone identified a water tower on this screenshot last week and thought that it could be from a film studio.

It's just below the Flynt Productions Building.

That would link the pièces of the puzzle nicely.

Are we allowed to post any picture from the leaked videos? There is one which gives us a decent idea about the size of the city.

I was looking at that water tower & was going to post this a couple of hours ago, but didn't think it was in the right place for the studio.

I'll post it anyway, just so we can try to work it out. It has a more vertical frame/stand underneath, but could be the same one, maybe.

I'm trying to find other buildings with similar art-deco styling like the sound stage behind Michael, but haven't had any luck so far.

If anybody can find something similar, it might help us locate the studio on the map.

user posted image

Edit.

These are the style & colours we need to remember seeing in previous screens & trailers.

They are from other Paramount buildings along Melrose Ave near the studio gates.

Maybe the camera is too far to show the other stands supporting the water tower ?

Yeah, it could be the same tower, but the reason I didn't want to post it before was more to do with the general location itself.

I know not everything in LS is exactly the same as real life LA, but I believe R* would keep the general location semi-accurate.

Sort of like this.

It's not likely to be there, you can see that block in the Gameplay Trailer @ 1:57-59. It's just looks like a bunch of apartments. That is just east of the Viper Room and the Sunset Tower Hotel. Not sure where the studios would be though.

Heheh, it's both.

May be allready found, but here you go:

Good find, but it was found not long after the gameplay trailer came out.

You can make out the sawmill from the "shack" image from Mt. Chiliad.

I can't put up any pics right now, I'm on my iFruit at the moment.

To be honest, if we didn't know it was next to Mt. Chiliad, it would be very hard to identify.

The rusty red walls & roof plus the dirt area surrounding the mill are dead giveaways though.

A few frames after the image shown, you can see the "shack" in the top of the screen.

That's how we know the rough location.

This is during a mission, probably doesn't appear during a mission so you don't accidentally switch to your online character and lose all your progress

Doesn't it show up when Michael is rescuing the guy from the FIB building? ph34r.gif

Also, I'm sure mid-mission even if it was there, we'd get a prompt before actually being able to lose our progress.

That building is a saw mill? I thought it was a gold mill like the one in Bodie, California.

Yeah I don't think it's a saw mill, among other things it's covered in chimneys.

It looks like it's for metal extraction, probably gold with the context of the game.

If serious:

you can go to www.rockstargames.com/v

play the video (which is 360p), click the "plus" sign:

And then click "download" (the HD version obviously). This video is in 720p.

What's even more cool to do is to copy the 720p movie to a USB stick, copy it on your PS3 HDD and play the trailer on your big ass tv, with "home cinema set bass" and in 720p.

Just try it ;-)

This is a direct link to the 720p version of the Online trailer:

And a link to the gameplay trailer (also in 720p):

You don't have to type all that fa**ot..... That's way to much spoiler for some people, fa**ot

Another shining example of a post that stays up, despite the use of sexually derogatory words, outright rudeness, and meanspirited attitude. Have seen dozens of them just today, but hey, at least there were no 'spoilers' involved.

I was wondering the same thing... Why the moderators allow derogatory words to stay up. But God forbid there's a small spoiler! Maybe you mods should take after R* and actually remove offensive comments.
