We know that this park could be north, not east. Downtown gives us a clue to where this may be. Let's check out the Downtown area.

Notice how all the big buildings are east of the US Bank Tower. If you went past the buildings that are past the US Bank Tower, you would head north. Here's a big clue:

Once again, we see those same buildings past the US Bank Tower. We also see a large suburban area that has already been mapped out. It's highly likely that this large suburban area is meant to represent both the San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys, probably because Rockstar doesn't want too much suburbia in the game.

That must meant that this park must be north, not east. That doesn't mean there won't be an Echo Park area, but this just proves that the park we see is Balboa Park, albeit smaller. This confirms that:

*Balboa Park is represented in the game

*So is the San Fernando Valley

*It is highly likely the SFV and the SGV are merged into one area.

BTW, happy 100 pages.

Pretty nice, but I hope R* didn't think, "We shouldn't put too much suburbia in this game" I mean we all got mad about concrete jungle(LC) and how there were barely any rural or suburban areas. I hope we get more than 3 mansions in this game too.

Oh and the lake we see is based a bit on Echo Lake, because if it wasn't that lighthouse and stuff where the people are sitting wouldn't exist. That lighthouse is in Echo Lake.

I don't think you need to worry much about suburbs. There is likely to be an Orange County replica (which also has tons of middle-class suburbs), we'll get a fair amount of the "ghetto" suburban areas, and we'll see the upscale Hollywood area.

It's not up to date with our new screenshots though.

By the way, Balboa Lake also has a similar sit area.

The main difference is that some trees have been removed, some palms have been added, and the park is smaller and closer to hmes. However, the distinct Cherry blossom trees are definitely distinctive of the area. Echo Park, nor Hollenbeck Park, do not have these features (cherry blossom trees).

Ooh, I would love to see Orange County. Maybe there will be some suburbs to the far southwest side of LS too, you know the part that sticks out? I can't wait to see what R* has in store for us. And the wealthy suburbs of Richman and Mulholland I hope the return.

One other thing, inside the yellow circle on the lake picture notice the palm tree. If you look closely you'll see something behind it. Could that possibly be the blimp? I know its awfully low.. Not sure what to really make of it.

I'm pretty sure San Fernando's equivalent in Los Santos would be up and over the Hollywood (Vinewood) hills... Why would it be right next to downtown?

here's a quote from IGN user (and Los Angeles resident) Vega_Obscura

    Wow! Just WOW!

One screen from the Echo Park area near Downtown LA and another screen of Downtown Long Beach with the harbor area in the background.

They are seriously showing off not only the size of the map but also the draw distance and attention to detail. These locations look just like their real world counterparts.

Between the areas in these two screens exists Ladera, South Central, Culver City, Carson, Mid City, Baldwin Hills, Crenshaw, Inglewood, Compton and all the other areas I'm not familiar with. Lots of nice areas as well as many 'troubled' areas. I wonder how they'll portray The Jungles, Korea Town and Hollywood.

This is a tall order to fill. I hope they have the activities and gameplay mechanics necessary to populate that area.

They basically just gave us the means to estimate the map size:

user posted image

The helicopter screen shot depicts the area called Long Beach located between the two purple lines on the right toward the bottom of this map.

The park screen shot depicts the area between The Staples Center and Dodger Stadium labeled to the right of the bolded Los Angeles in the upper middle portion of the map.

This map makes it look small, but it is a substantial amount of ground being represented. Taking the 710 down to Long Beach from LA is like 20-30 minutes with no traffic.

Also keep in mind that Rockstar said this game includes the beaches and surrounding areas. The trailer depicted the Santa Monica pier which is where the 10 freeway ends at the bolded Santa Monica in the upper left portion of the water. LAX is the airport south of that location.

At the very top of the map in the center is a 5,900ft. mountain, which is likely the mountain depicted in the trailer nestled in the Angeles National Forest.

Were I a betting man, I'd say Los Santos will cover all the area pictured here all the way east to the 605 freeway.

Here's a labeled graphic I attempted...

I'm working on updating my map with all the new discoveries.

It's gonna take some time though as I realize there are a lot of things that I need to modify, starting with the overall shape of the coast and changing the angle of Downtown LS.

I hope I could post it here this afternoon.

Keep up the good work guys, I'm sure there are a lot of other landmarks to be found on that helicopter screenshot wink.gif

If you take a look at one of my screenshots, you can clearly see there is a large suburban area north of Downtown. Geographically, it's the San Gabriel Valley, but the location also fits the San Fernando Valley. This might be due to Rockstar's condensing of the map.

I have a crazy hunch that the bridge in the back leads to San Fierro because of two things 1. the whole Catalina island theory seems weird to me because in rl the island is quite small and a bit far from the coast and i doubt that R* would give such a small piece of land a big suspension bridge like that 2. the bridge looks just like the golden gate bridge init's structure.

Where are the mountains in the newest picture then? And some of the building don't look to be there... oh god is R* actually taking buildings out suicidal.gif

behing the borders of picture... btw nice find to that guy.. its that place when he marked wink.gif

Well indeed they add buildings in that shot meaning that the shot was defenitly taken after trailer one

you guys have it all wrong, the new screenshot and the old trailer screenshot are taken from different sides of Los Santos. here, check this out, ive rotated the image so that both horizons are level.

user posted image

so look, im pretty damn sure the building circled in green is the mile high club, and it seems like half of the highest floor is unfinished, right, well the unfinished side is opposide of the tallest bulding in thsee shots. so for the two buldings circled in black to be the same, then it would have to be way to the left of the new screenshot.

also, on the new screenshot, the horizon kind of looks to me like water.
