That lighthouse would make a great vantage point!

Just looking at this thread I'm beginning to get a feel of how big Los Santos is actually going to be.. great work guys!!

Dont know if it has been spotted or not. With the lake pic, if you look closely on the right side, you see (probably) the mountain with the vinewood sign. Im not sure tho

I also see a mountain on the right. It may or may not have the Vinewood Sign.

I'm pretty sure thats a interchange. The highway going to the north of the pic may be connected with the Vincent Tomas Bridge?

Im not a computer wizard so no pics but I've just noticed something. On the new heli screenshot, the mile high club(building under construction) is to right of the tallest skyscraper (the bank) and the ocean is to the right which is the west coast in L.A.

If you look at the screen from the trailer showing the city with the oil rig the mile high club is to the left of the bank skyscraper and so is the ocean. So the screenshots are on opposite sides of the city. The oil rig is on the south side so the mountains are off screen opposite the heli on the new screenshot! It is fukin massive!!!!

That is actually a substantial observation, well done.

By the way no need to be a computer wiz, you just need half a brain.

As a thought, the lake picture could be Lake Balboa.

EDIT: Also, use Google Maps to see around the neighborhood of both proposed sites of the park area we saw. The area around Echo Park is bungalow housing, around MacArthur are big apartment buildings. However, around Balboa appear to be more nicer, stucco Spanish-style suburb homes. Those are the same types we see in the V pictures. However, this might not mean sh*t, since this is a re-imagined LA, and there are a few stucco homes around Echo Park. Just not as many as San Fernando Valley (Lake Balboa location).

The map is huge... You should compare the Trailer pics with the new ones... And see how big is Los Santos

ok, Circled in Blue is the Bel Air City Hall

http://www.jademillsestates.com/blog/

so we can roughly assume that area makes an appearance in game

and to what appears to be the south is the vincent thomas bridge in the port area, giving us more scale for the city's coast.

Yeah, I think it is a combination of Lake Echo Park because of the boathouse I pointed out a few pages back and Lake Balboa because of the cherry blossoms. Just simply googling "Los Angeles" and "cherry blossoms" shows me Lake Balboa pictures.

One thing we know for sure from the first screen shot is that the game isn't landlocked. Its still endless ocean

You have to be blind to not see that there's endless ocean in the first pic and in the 2nd pic, the mountains aren't SO high that you wouldn't be able to climb over.

The park could also be Hollenbeck Park in East LA, it is placed in a much more accurate place in real life in comparison to the screenshot.

This guy is right. The second screenshot is clearly facing west miles east of downtown (the first new screenshot shows that the Mile High Club is south of the US Bank Building). Echo Park is northwest of downtown, MacArthur Park is directly west of downtown, and Balboa Park is way beyond the Santa Monica Mountains. None is anywhere close to where this is. I hope R* hasn't taken too many liberties with the map design, as that would make this LS almost as geographically inaccurate as SA's.

It could be but R* did look at Echo Lake because they have the lighthouse included in the lake scene which is from Echo Lake.

Now we need a drawn map?

I don't think we have enough screens to draw a decent map... yet.

It appears to be almost as geographically inaccurate as GTA SA's. Griffith Observatory is west of the Vinewood sign, Olympic Police Station is east of downtown instead of west, and the Ocean Tower Condos should be way more west and by the beach. Those are some of the bigger inconsistencies [we haven't even seen the airport yet we can see the Vincent Thomas Bridge which is further away]. So the park could really be from anywhere.

Rockstar never said the park was east of Downtown. It could actually be north of it. We already have a large suburban area spotted in the game. Rockstar seemed to have merged the San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys and re-imagined them to be directly north of Downtown rather than separated by mountains and with a small gap that does connect them. Also, there are more mountains north of those said areas (Angeles National Forest, etc) so this park isn't necessarily east. It could be north.

I think this is why we are all so confused.

I was trying to figure out what building is to the left of the Verona Mall (specifically the Bel Air City Hall) that you guys have identified. It's almost shaped like a capital H but cut in half.

Funny thing is, I saw the lake and thought, "That looks like Lake Balboa" but then immediately thought, "Nah, they wouldn't put something that obscure in there."

But now, after reading this thread, maybe so.

I lived on Woodley Ave last year, about a block from Lake Balboa. Used to take my dog there all the time.

The more I see of GTA V, the more excited I get that it will be a MASSIVE place to play around in.
