I dunno... it looks as though the whole map has that "shadow" around the edge though.

True, but the shadow isn't so big, also, the piece of paper which is on front of the actual map doesn't leave any shadow below that "new thing", just on that small chunck. As said, i may be 100% wrong. I'm just trying to find new things and revive this thread.

I do indeed think there will be other very small islands scattered around, mostly uninhabited islands however. This would be purely for scuba diving territory and Jet ski stunt jumps.

Not to worry dude. Hopefully someone else might pick up on something to support this theory further... it's certainly something to keep an eye on.

Plus it's in the east. This has largely been an area where very little has been shown. Maybe an island in the picture is the reason.

Hi, i've been reading this topic for like a month. Like 5 or 6 pages behind someone said that we had the outline of the map since 9th July that was on the Gameplay Trailer.

 

I've downloaded the HD video and looked for that bit, I got a screenshot of where it's more detailed and seen something wierd.

Please don't go all crazy with me if I'm wrong, or it has already been seen before. Maybe I can help, or maybe not, i'm not 100% sure.

 

On this first screenshot we can see the map, I've added the actual achievment "map", but right on the edge of the piece of the paper we can see ( atleast me ) a shadow or even a bit or land possibly? The achievment map I don't think that has to be 100% exactly "the actual map". On the actual blueprint, that side was taken out for a reason and also we can't see the border on that side, maybe hidding something? Why we haven't seen that side so clearly till now? You can see on the last image which has been made by someone on here ( It was Wayne Kerr on the page 965 ) and marked what we haven't seen so far.

Also, I've seen this official photo from GTA V, has this been already seen? It's a wave behind the boat or maybe a little mountain = island from the shadow?

That map on the pin board is not showing extra land. There's a little something called color contrast. You can see it at work here with the color of the water in that sliver, and the white paper in front of it, making it look like something important when it's only the color of the water.

Going off your posts over the last few pages im not too sure why anyone on here would listen to your 'ideas'

 

I'm not sure why people have their hearts set on another island... I doubt their will be. The snow will either be on a mountain road going to a small town or they will have seasons. Having said that, the 'map' outline should not dismiss this as it is merely a background for an achievement, If there was a small island with a village on it, there wouldn't be much point sticking it on there.

 

That achievement could be all roads driven on...? Just a thought

Okay, could we at least find the possibilities of where North Yanktown could be?

There's only three possible options of where it could be, imo.

 

1.It doesn't exist in the game, and that post card was put in as a troll.

 

2.It's in this valley in the northeast.

 

 

3.It's some where the northwest forest that's shown in these two shots.

 

 

 

 

 

Right now, I think option 3 is most likely.

You can't simply rule out the possibility of another island ESPECIALLY when North Yankt is still to be mapped. We don't even know what other areas are out there. Just because you disagree doesn't make me or kindled or anyone else who holds the same opinion stupid. We could be very wrong. Well find out on the 17th. Until then though, I guess you're gonna have to struggle to here other opinions.

You know what bugs me with people who claim the earth is flat, or mobile phones cause cancer? That they (who will happily rule out any other possibility if it fits their goals), whenever they debate with people who've actually done the research and done the math (precisely by never ruling out any possibility, however small, and building overwhelming evidence, bit by bit), will claim: "But you can't rule out the possibility!" And: "We just disagree, either of us could be wrong."

 

What bugs me is that for you, there's nothing to lose here. Opinions are cheap. Come September 17, you'll just shrug, forget about it, and move on to the next thing you cannot rule out.

Stop derailing this thread. This topic is intended to create a Los Santos map mock-up based on facts. There is an entire thread dedicated to the "secret city" or "hidden land mass" idea. Keep it in there.

Deffpony, I have the utmost respect for you, but shouldn't facts be achieved through speculation and discussion? It is only through discussion that the ideas and opinions of this community can be tested in order to confirm their validity. While there might not be another island, it is one possibility as to the location of North Yanktown. I have no facts to back up this idea, but it is one possibility (along with seasons). This community has done a great job, but we cannot forget that there are many secrets surrounding gta:v. Rockstar surely hasn't played the last card yet!

There is an entire thread devoted to the pursuit of hidden areas of the game that we HAVE NOT SEEN. Which means that anything discussed in that thread is PURE speculation. Like the power lines that were obviously the San Fierro bridge.

 

If at any point in time, someone in that thread discovers a piece of compelling evidence, then feel free to bring it to this thread. But allow me to define evidence.

There we go.

We haven't seen snow anywhere besides that shot. The only area we haven't gotten much of a look is the northwest. That's the only possible place for it at this point, if it's in the game at all.

 

If there is a snowy area, I doubt it will be much larger than Tall Trees in RDR.

That map on the pin board is not showing extra land. There's a little something called color contrast. You can see it at work here with the color of the water in that sliver, and the white paper in front of it, making it look like something important when it's only the color of the water.

True, I'm not saying that it isn't an color contrast or something like that, but that in my opinion it's a bit too much and you can clearly see on the upper circle that the "contrast" goes a bit more than the actual piece of paper which is on top of the map.

And a zoomed one already. ( Took a screenshot of the file, so photoshop doesn't mess the actual pixels and redo them for better quality )

It is just one huge speculation which doesn't kill someone by looking into it a bit further than needed. If the actual "achievment" which got leaked today is a "true shape outlin" of the map, then it fits ( I think ) 99% on that "piece of paper" where they have on the gameplay trailer with another 4 small bits of map and photos with things on the same second. But as MrMusAddict said with the contrast, maybe it's just an optical illusion made by the border + shadows etc. Who knows for now

It proves nothing, there is still tons to map within the boundaries! This forum is falling apart from a stupid leak! This is some climatic sh*t!
