The Leprechaun

It's San Chiansk

I actually think it is San Chianski, as Chianski is apparently an alter ego of a Charles Bukowski. A writer from Germany who's books were turned into movies featuring LA heavily.

And if you read the latest interview from the art director for GTA V, he mentions movies about LA, being a huge influence. I think it's a pretty good connection for a euro born writer of LA.

Knowledge gained from a Google search and wikipedia.

The Alamo Sea is sitting right above Los Santos.

An attempt to make it a bit more technical.

Assuming the runway is the same length as in GTA IV. The runway was based on LaGuardia Airport making the runway 7000ft/2133m.

Taking the px length of the runway it totaled in at 70px length. Rotating it up to have a basic measuring method. And lining it up with the "Highway exit from Los Santos" and straight up to alamo sea.

Total pixel length is 235pixels. Converting that into feet it would be equivalent to roughly 23,500 feet or about 7,160 meters. (7000/70*235)

i would say the map is quite impressive if we could use this fan made blueprint map as an assumption

EDIT: corrected my facts about the runway length from 6000ft to 7000ft, therefore also the total length between alamo and los santos.

The Leprechaun
Probably been mentioned already, but in this screen we see mention of a place called Pacific Bluffs. That sounds like it could very well be the name of the Malibu knock off.

I think so. So far, the Malibu town is the only one we know of on the West/Pacific coast.

Technically, Paleto is also on the West side.

And as for the length between the Alamo and Los Santos, wouldn't that be 4 mi?

Assuming the map is correct, and the runway length is equal to GTA IV. It would be 4.4 miles between alamo sea and los santos.

I simply do not understand how people on this forum can complain that the map is going to be to small. It could possibly be to big smile.gif

Going to spend to much time in this game to discover everything ^^

Type in "San Chiansk" on wordpad with the "mistral" font. It looks exactly the same.

So is most of Los Santos if you use that logic tounge.gif

Seriously? That is North Yankton?

I don't know, but a detail in the picture with snow have draw my attention, the road, is a little road of campaign with fields on the highly-rated.

And the fields are in grapeseed so it can be the road going to this town and from to grapeseed.

Then, gta is built like that: Los Santos and west coast >Hills of Los Santos > Desert of Grand Senora >Campaign > Rocky Mountains.

So i'm thiking that could be possible to have little seasons on the rocky mountains and campaign at least.

I am not really disagreeing with you, just adding a backing element. In addition, Bukowski did die along the southern california sea. I am just pointing out that adding an 'i' to what you have already noted just brings in an actual California Historical figure known for drinking, Writing, loving the sea, and SOCAL. Why not name a mountain range after a famed Californian transplant 'deviant' (I use that term more in respect)? As a Cali-born person, I find him interesting, despite just finding out about him. Heck there is even a bungalow relegated as a Californian Historical site, where he used to live. In addition, in the movie Factotum (possibly book) there is an ACE Bar, which seem very similar in design to the ACE Liquor in Sandy Shores.

I was also noting that when the Art Director said they used movies to add elements, they probably also added every little nod they love into the world, likely including a venerable LA writer. And think about the irony (I think) of calling Chianski a saint (which is what San means).

PS Google Chianski or Bukowski

Where is the skyview cafe?

Doesn't this mean there must be another mountain somewhere... possibly where the snow is located? The mountains in the brochure look a little snowy.

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, California

they mention a bar and restaurant movie theater and 360 degree view located all at that "cabin"/ mountain station on the top, from the 9 minute mark onwards

Except the runway in IV was NOWHERE NEAR 7000ft !!!!! it was 750m long or 2325 ft - map is looking small

There is only about 1.7/1.8 miles between LS and the Alamo sea. Look at the LS mapping thread...the whole of LS city is under 2 miles across.

Quoting myself because I think this is an important piece to the puzzle.

There is no Skyview Cafe/Bar on any of the mountains we have already seen. Also, it wouldn't be at the base of the mountain - hence why it's called a "skyview" bar.

This is what I think too.

It's not possible that the ski resort and the skyview cafébar are on Mount Chilliad, because we have never seen this mountain with snow in any screenshot so far (and this part of the map is too dry-desert-ish for that).

And I don't think that there will be a season system to say that snow could fall on Mount Chilliad for a time period only in the game.

What I think is that the aerial tramway on Mount Chilliad leads only to a skydiving platform, and so there's a second aerial tramway in another hidden snowy part of the map, where maybe Pala Springs and North Yanktown are located.

So let me get this straight- This:

= The entire map? The first pic may be a little deceiving in scale but altogethers looks to be maybe 1.5x the size of RDR max, not 3x...

Am I missing something here, this is looking rather small for being all their previous recent titles combined.

Neither the West or East coast is really shown in any of those

That'll be the building at the top of the mountain.

Rockstar inevitably hide us important parts of the map, they're very good at it!

They show to us only what they want to show.

I think we'll all be very surprised on September 17 when we'll discover the whole map... wink.gif

Its not looking as big as I hoped thats for sure.

Your problem and don't ruin this thread, please.

Anyone know where the desert could be located? Possibly to the east from Alamo sea behind the mountains?

The desert is all around the Alamo Sea. Grand Senora Desert is named after the Sonoran Desert and the Salton Sea is located within it.

It's starting to REALLY seem like there's more to the map.

Remember those 'buildings' from the Trevor airstrip screens and his character trailer?

You know what guys, I have this crazy theory that maybe. Just maybe, rockstar are looking at these amazing maps and laugjing while they realise that they have purposely left out huge chunks and they have proven that today.

I beleive that the "city" of los santos may have been mapped acuratley, the "country side" may be nothing like what we expect.

I feel that there's much more than what we've seen so far.

Well given that we now have a photo showing snow I think there's much more for us to see.. not one thing released till today hinted at a snowy climate one bit.

I do hope though if there's more left to be discovered that they keep it hidden till the release.
