you forgot some things

 

@ SamanthaLois & normal42. You've both got it around the wrong way.

 

The military base is on THIS side of the river. The side closest to the camera basically.

The military base would be to he bottom right of the shot, but off the edge of the screen.

Those times would fit something the size of just Cause 2.

We do know it will take at the least 4 hours or more to walk around the outline of the map.

i remember driving to that old Mafia guy in the hospital in GTA4 took forever but it was probably only like 3 mins,driving for 10mins straight will seem like an eternity, I like driving for long periods of time I used to love blazing down the freeways on my harley in GTA:SA

I think it's going to translate into A LOT of radio content to help fight off the potential boredom along with maybe a custom radio station or iFruit playlist for our own music.

 

It is going to be really interesting to see how close these maps turn out to be compared to the real thing.

San Chiansi? I can't find any references for anything like that or anything else.

The writing should be the same width as the word M O U N T A I N, so we're seeing almost all of it.

How much more obvious could it be that there isnt two n's in a row so its definitely not Chianne.

Uh, do you even write cursive, or? It's a native american name. Looks like 2 N's to me, in cursive. What are you expecting the N's to look identical as if that's not hand written?

 

Maybe "Chiaru" or meaning "clear, light", since it's near the lighthouse or what not and epsilon is based on scientology and being "clear' is to see the light to them.. But uh, looks like Chianne in cursive handwriting to me.

My best guess would be "San Chiansh" or "San Chiansk"

 

 

 

 

If you want to try for yourself the font is "Mistral".

If you don't know how something is supposed to be, don't post about it & tell everybody they are wrong. It just confuses the people who are trying to understand.

 

This is roughly how it is. Military base is off the edge of the screen on this (North) side of the river.

HOLY bleep. Pala Springs - Palm Springs.

 

I wasn't sure about the map size before, but now there's a Palm Springs.... I am amazed.

 

OT: It's obviously at the base of a mountain, probably whatever mountain the gondala building has been found.

I know I would like to see Pala Springs!!!!! I live in Palm Springs less than five minutes from the Tram

Possible major street name - On the website there's a mention of a place called Hawick (under shopping and glamour), which is also the name of a small town in Scotland about 20 miles from another town called Melrose, both of which are very close to Rockstar North's home of Edinburgh.

 

That plus the mention of "drug addict hipster vibe", I think we can assume Hawick = Melrose Ave.

Probably been mentioned already, but in this screen we see mention of a place called Pacific Bluffs. That sounds like it could very well be the name of the Malibu knock off.

Well sure looking at it from the sky will make it look smaller. Try looking at the road, picturing a car, then comparing the size of the car to the entire countryside. Its huge and you cant deny that.

Fido posted a few shots of other signs from different states along the real life Route 66.

It seem R* gets it's inspiration from lots of sources, but it all ties in together nicely.

I don't think it's necessarily about size, I think theres so much to the north west and east of the map that we havent seen.

I just almost feel like the "zancudo river" with the military base etc, and i guess the alamo sea to an extent, seems to need to be

pulled a little closer toward the top corner of Los Santos in the maps while having much more "empty" space to the east etc. that we won't have seen yet.

I realise I'm probably wrong on this, but you could almost back up my point with that screen of the helicopter over the vinewood sign with

Chiliad/alamo in the far distance - Chiliad seems to be running more down toward the side of the map as opposed to at the very peak.

I think so. So far, the Malibu town is the only one we know of on the West/Pacific coast.

long time reader....first time poster....

 

Not completely across the whole forum thing....it is new to me...so I haven't figured out how to upload an image with this and am not sure how it will go.

 

The guy on the yoga pamphlet 'Fabien" is the same yoga instructor Amanda is with in the game-play trailer (1:10). I know it is not related to mapping but just thought I would share. Please don't shoot me down for posting in the wrong topic....

The last letter will end in line with the final n of mountain. As the S of San begins inline with the first M of Mountain.

The Alamo Sea is sitting right above Los Santos.

 

Taking a look at these 2 pictures together. I think we need to twist the top section of the map anticlockwise a bit.

This would bring the Alamo a bit closer to the city at the west side of the lake.

Chilliad would be more north west but Poleto needs to move a little bit round to the north of the mountain. Rocket town would be further north.

 

Doing this would give us more space on the east coast of the map. I do think we may see another mountain range.

 

Maybe this will be Pala Springs giving us 2x Cable Cars (in the flyer for Pala Springs - looks like a snow covered mountain its going up)

 

This section of the map could be where we get the snow.

 

Its a sure thing now with these extra place names that we are missing something - a small mountain town, or mountain range.

Not sure how they have hidden it unless it is a separate land mass - or there is a wider strip of desert - like death valley - that

Stop us seeing the other mountains in the distance because they are to far away.
