Mapping Los Santos! Building/landmark analysis

How come we don't have screenshots from the gameplay trailer like we did the trailers 1 and 2? I was pausing the video around just look at things and we could get some good analysis for east Los Santos. I saw very good shots of the 6th Street bridge.

I think that "shack" is the top station of GTA's version of the palm spring aerial tram way. Look it up on Google images. Also it seems as though everyone is saying the wind farm is based off of Tehachapi wind farm but I think it is more based of the San Gorgonio Pass Wind Farm near palm springs once again Google image it. To me it just looks so much more that area the wind farm is in. Also the real life salton sea is just down the freeway from those two places.

 

Been watching this thread but never posted. I don't recall ever see the two points I made.

Actually, I have, twice now, once about 200 page ago and once in the early days when we first saw the turbines and I was speculating that they'd include Palm Springs

 

If anything though, with the latest French rotated hi-res shot, I'm less convinced it supposed to the aerial tram way (rather than just a generic cable car / mine apparatus) as the "hut" is way too simple compared to the tramway stations and it's in completely the wrong place (i.e. nowhere near the turbines, which are roughly the direction Palm Springs would be ... then again, Salton Sea is in the wrong place too and R* have always had a very liberal interpretation of the geography).

Aqua circle = Definitely a house/shed or other building.

 

Yellow circle = Maybe they are just trees that haven't rendered properly, but they look too big & out of place to me.

Especially the one on the left. It has a man-made look to it.

 

To the right of the "tree things" there seems to be a straight edged, right angled object. Maybe another structure or platform?

Sorry, but I really think those are trees. The straight edges are just the shape of the mountain, but it looks different because of the shadow.

Mine at the top of the mountain with cable cars going to the top and back down, although the bigfoot idea is certainly worth a thought just for the sheer comical value

I think so too. Or the middle station/relay. They don't look like trees to me, especially the left one.

I mean, look at the main picture, there are no other trees sticking up above the ridge-line anywhere on the mountain.

Combined with the right angle structure, it just doesn't look natural to me.

Why would it be a purpose built building for jumping off? O_o

I mean, he probably jumped from there but it can be any sort of building and still be used to jump off, that is normal for BASE jumping.

I think you're right there's a building there, but those are trees in the background on the further back ridge.

Probably another building under the start of the word 'trees'/ to the left of my oval.
