GrandMaster Smith
^Which is reminiscent of the high desert region that is about two hours from real-life LA. The distance from Trevor to the Vinewood sign could certainly be a SUBurban area, but maybe not.

Is the Alamo sea really that close to Los Santos?

From what we've seen so far it's just ocean behind that mountain marking the end of th map. I'm really hoping the map extends west and east, from the looks of it the total landmass looks like 2-3x of Liberty City D:

I think NickerBR is correct. Looks the same to me.

You can't even get a good look because it's blurry. confused.gif

And you can think San Diego is in the game just because a decoration shape? THERE IS NOT SAN DIEGO IN GTA V.

Wow great post alaster. Unfortunately for me seeing the confirmation that the blueprint map DOES show every street and block, makes the map look ridiculously small sad.gif I don't believe for a minute the entire map will be 3.5 times the size of Red Dead Redemption, not for a minute.

In that Vinewood sign with chopper screenshot, the freeway is turning east. Most maps I have seen is having the freeway going straight north. It is clearly that there a much more to the east than people are thinking.

Here. Fun fact: Ronald Reagan's office as former president was in the penthouse.

My god you people really are starting to sound like whiny children now. It's just astonishing that people can look at a map of this huge scale and call it small.

Yes they are the towers from the prison.

The Military Base is supposedly more to the west, along Zancudo River.

Fido, I made a post back on page 876.

I'm trying to find the location of the 3 circled hills. Do you think what I circled was correct, or do you think they need to be a little further south?

Cheers.

Do you guys agree with this?  It's a little bit rough, but you get the idea.

Blue square = Sandy Shores.

Aqua square = The Lost MC hangout.

Red square = metal bridge NW of Alamo Sea.

I'm just trying to get an approximate location for the circled hills/mountains.

Cheers.

I think you those mountains you circled are a bit too much north.

I believe the green circle must be moved to the south on the map.

The pink one must take the place of the green one.

The yellow one is correct.

And you put Sandy Shore too much West.

I believe it's actually below the gap in the mountains, just right of the green circle in your pic.

EDIT :

Is there a ZIP file with all the frames from the gameplay trailer ?

There was one for every other trailer but still nothing for this one apparently.

I really need one as it's very useful for the mapping progress.

EDIT 2 :

Nevermind, found it.

Fido, if you use VLC media player for playback of the trailer, there is an option to play frame by frame and save each one as you wish.

Thanks mate.

I found a download link so all is well wink.gif

Note from Moderator - this will be edited into the top of each page until you all learn.

Final warning. Please keep these off-topic arguments out of here.

This is a MAPPING topic to try and identify locations we've seen so far. It is not for discussion of whether another city exists or the size of the map. Think that the archway is San Diego? Fine, a simple comparison picture will do, but if you want to drive the point home with an argument, we have places for that. This fantastic topic is turning to crap because you can't keep your arguments in the correct place. Please respect those who are putting a lot of work into this project and post elsewhere if that is all you have to say.

Think San Diego will be in V? Use The Multiple TOWNS Argument

Think LS is too small? Use Los Santos Size

Do you really want to take a vacation from these forums when Rockstar might announce GTA Online info? If not I suggest you follow through with my request.

Thank you.

I'm working on the country side screenshots, linking mountains together (clic to view it full size, beware it's pretty huge)

Edit: JPG compression was ugly, I've replaced it with a PNG (approx 12 MB)

Are you stupid? That's just LS alone. The whole map is 3.5x bigger just land mass wise, and 5x bigger including Ocean.

Guys, just look what I even identified (*sorry for bad english)

Sorry if this has been pointed out, but the building looks a lot like the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows in Santa Monica. Particularly the diagonal color scheme. http://www.westlandtraveler.com/ca/santa_m...ont_miramar.jpg

nice find, so the 1st screen isnt "hidden city" as some people thought

Just reminding, now we have better quality blueprint map (thanks to JW599's find):

savepic.org/4319405.png

Comparison:

omg they changed it? mercie_blink.gif

look at very left of the "n" of "new". In the "old" version there was a "X" intersection, now it's not. Are both official? lulz

Just a random thought with the blueprint: We can see rail lines on in it, so if Union Station (Unity Station) is on there as well, then it should be an area on the map where a bunch of rail lines meet up. With that higher quality version, it looks like they meet up right in the center of the map.

The new one is correct. The X intersection doesn't exist on the original, unmagnified version at http://www.rockstargames.com/V/img/en_us/special-full.jpg. It must have appeared due to an interpolation error when somebody tried to enlarge it. The new one is from a higher resolution image that Rockstar uploaded to their Amazon product listing.

EDIT: actually the X intersection results from the distortion of the map being rotated in the "rolled up" blueprint image. The same area is visible unrotated in the flat blueprint detail so it's clear the X doesn't really exist.

Sorry, I may be missing something here - but where do you see similarities?

Based off the new blueprint, I found a few spots that almost certainly look like subway / rail stations.

Its pretty clear the line going down to the airport is some sort of transit line. There looks to be two stations on that part of the line.

What is weird is that it completely disappears on that map. I was thinking maybe that is where it goes underground. But if that were the case then you would see a bridge over the canal in this shot. (sorry for poor quality)

user posted image

Also, there is a line up north around Michael's house. I could only identify one station on that line.

What do you think? Worthy of adding onto any of the maps?
