Mapping Los Santos! Building/landmark analysis

I tried to clear up image as much as possible but not much can be done with proper deblur tools wich will be only in CS7. Used many sharpen methods but image needs biger res.

First letter looks more like 'F' rather than 'L'. So I doubt it's Los Santos/Las Venturas.

I thought we were long past grasping at the SF and LV straws. We're a little under two months from release, there's no way they'd still be hiding another major metropolis area.

There is definitely a fairly sized metropolis somewhere. It doesn't make sense for a highway to leave los Santos and go back around. It leads to somewhere..

very very flawed logic to say the least!lol

Please explain then. The point of a highway is to get from one place to another. Not from one place to the same place.

It's not going to the same place. It's going all around the map.

If Liberty City had a highway then why wouldn't this game? Why does it HAVE to have another city for it to make sense?

If there was no highway in the GTA 5 map, it would be rather... awkward. You drive out into the countryside and there's no main roads at all, just very small roads that are like one way in both directions. That would just seem awkward.

the highways lead to analheim in the north east of the map

My ass, does it? tounge.gif

Are the Tataviam mountains supposed to represent the San Jacinto range or the San Gabriel range?

Would be most argumentative to be the San Gabriel Mountains because the Pacoima Dam is probably the Dam they rebuild in game...

Oh yeah I forgot about the dam. I wonder what Chiliad is based off this time, it was Mt Diablo in SA but it can't be this time as V is just Southern California.

Kesta, hasn't there been landmarks in GTAV that are outside socal?

The bridge in the north western part of the map (forgot the name) is based on a bridge in central california I believe, but apart from that, I think everything has been exclusively SoCal.

Fido_le_muet

As promised, here's my new updated map.

I tried to keep the shape of what is supposedly the island on the board

for the Paleto Heist in the gameplay trailer.

I also tried to make it so it could fit with the blueprint dimensions.

To be honest, I spent about 12 hours on this today so I'll leave the GTA map alone for a few days.

Looking good, Fido. I'm still hoping for an island (maybe Bohan sized) south-west of LS or west-ish of Paleto.

Oh yeah, if you could make a rough speculation map too, I would really appreciate it. Surely there's a lot of things you want to do on the main map but aren't confirmed. If its too much work to quickly add speculations to that map, that's ok, you don't need to.

Is this coastline? According to the map revealed in the special edition, there isn´t land there, but, definetely, it isn´t a cloud.

Moar info. I think it´s San Diego

Seriously, what evidence? There is only one screenshot which slightly hints at it but that could easily be an area in Los Santos. It wouldn't be the first time Rockstar uses architecture from other areas than LA or SoCal in general, ie one of the railway bridges isn't even based on a bridge in California but from further north.

san diego is not in the game, but anaheim is. how many times do i have to say it, you see a peak there, weve seen mysterious buildings that look nothing like ls. analheim is oing to be a great place to go to when the game comes out mark my words

In about 4 or 5 different screen shots, there is architecture that is custom to the San Diego area. As far as the style of houses, buildings etc. And another word on the blueprint map, since people keep wanting to use this as the "holy grail" of mapping. Rockstar said that the blueprint map is two-sided. Because the map was so big that they couldn't put all the information they needed on one side. The side of the map we're seeing is just an up close view of Los Santos and surrounding area. The other side of the map will be a zoomed out view of the entire gta V map which includes Los Santos , and we'll see how vast the entire map really is and how small Los Santos is compared to the entire map. THis thing is gonna be huge. I can't wait!

If i were going by screenshots i would think this is the smallest map of any GTA game, because we keep seeing the same areas over and over. its actually because they are hiding alot.

Anaheim will be in the game too... its apart of Los Santos.. there is more of Los Santos past those mountains we see just over the bridge leading to the LS Harbor. I mean cmon, Is Anaheim really a city on its own? Yeah i know its a city in real life..but cmon, its really apart of the Greater Los Angeles Area... its not like San Diego, or Bakersfield or Sacramento or something.....Its like... Brooklyn to New York City... its still all NYC .... no offense to ppl of the borough

woa woa woa. no it is not. i live in new york and brooklyn is new york city. yonkers is the anaheim of the east because it touches the bronx but it is not a part of new york city. manhattan is not just nyc. analheim will be north east of los santos, we have not seen that area, the highway goes up there for a reason, glory hole park posters can be seen in the trailer

No, they didn't say the blueprint map was two sided. They said the map that comes with the game box is two sided. Check the Q&A thread again.

I believe that the blueprint map is two sided, I believe that it is a enhanced replica of the real map that will come in the regular version of the game. But lets just say youre right and it isn't two sided...... Have you seen the entire blueprint map yet??? Nope, you've seen a cutout

“Hello, I noticed that the Special Edition of GTA V includes a large "blueprint" of the map. I was wondering if the Standard Edition of GTA V will include the traditional folded paper map that, as far as I can recall, has always been included with GTA games.” – received via Mouthoff

"Will a GTA V poster be included when the game is purchased?” – @ny718kid

As in all previous Grand Theft Auto games, we’ve made a point of including a map of the world to aid players in navigating the city. In all versions of GTAV, the game disc will accompany a map with all the details players will need to navigate the world. One big change though with this game is that with a world of this size, we created a double-sided map based poster to make sure players have all the information they might need to discover and explore the world. The blueprint map in the other editions does contain plenty of additional information and secrets on it.

The blue print ma may be two sided, but they don't state so here so as far as we know only the standard map is two sided

We have seen a blueprint which clearly shows the shape of Los Santos (it only misses a small portion of Los Santos in the NE of the map). There is likely nothing to the south other than more docks considering it is likely for sea trade with more land to the south not making any sense. So San Diego can't be to the south.

There also isn't much room anywhere else for another city based on countless of people combing through the screenshots and trailers to come up with a good representation of what the map will end up looking like.

And even then there is only one screenshot of what looks like something in San Diego and nothing else which even remotely hints at San Diego being in the game. Not to mention that San Diego would more than likely be considered as a city and that flies against Rockstar's statement of there being no other city in the game.

Edit:

I don't truly understand Rockstar's statement about the double sided map on how it is a change from previous games. For example my GTA SA included a double-sided poster map.

This would all be true if you've seen the entire blueprint map, which you haven't once again. And you also do not know if the blueprint map is two sided or not, which they haven't said that it is, and they haven't said that it isn't either. And I do not remember them saying that Los Santos would be the only city in the game. Please show me where a Rockstar employee said that Los Santos is the ONLY city in the game. They've said that the map is Los Santos and Blaine County. I never heard them say that Los Santos is the ONLY city in the game. If you can show us that, then we will take that as gold.

When people look for cities in blurred signs... there is no logic that will make up their mind.

If there were any (real) evidence of another big city in the world wouldnt you think we would all be jumping the hype train?

The actual answer is no, there isnt. Its not that all the mappers in this thread dont want it to be, its just that there is no true evidence.

You're in the wrong thread mate, this mapping thread is about facts, you stated it's a fact that the blueprint map is two sided now you're only just speculating it is.

Go back to the other cities thread, sorry, other towns thread as it is now known.
