Hey guys, I posted this before in the trailer analysis but maybe it'll help here smile.gif

I couldn't pull up a picture, but I just noticed in the trailer during the first crane-up shot that reveals a shot of downtown, just as the shot appears, in the bottom left you can see by the coloring on the blue paint on the building that it's definitely one of the buildings on the venice strip, (somewhere close to where that hispanic guy puts his car cover down) meaning that the water is just behind camera. I remember people debating that a few weeks ago saying. "No way downtown is that close to the water!" Anyways, I just thought this would help give an idea of the ACTUAL scale of this city. I feel like (and this is coming from a film editing background) they used some camera trickery in the trailer to make it feel bigger than it really is... I would... Looking back on the previous game trailers, I think they've always kind of done that. Rockstar has always been huge on detail and content more than physical size anyway

0:12 in the trailer right when the narrator says "Magic" it's hard to see, and it leaves the screen as the shot cranes up, but it def looks like a venice store

TL;DR - The map (at least the Los Santos city portion, probably won't be AS big as you might think, same way as Liberty is a SUPER scaled down NY, this is prob gonna be a pretty small los angeles)

Yeah someone saw that before, the blue building is Big Daddy's Pizza IIRC, we had a discussion a few pages back about the city not being quite as big as it first seemed too.

I wonder if their going to put the USS Iowa in the game. It's making its way down here to the San Pedro port, and will be a museum by July 7th I believe. Would be cool if instead of a museum, they made it a Military headquarter with Hydra Jets and helicopters. Obviously they can't do an exact replica, but just a battleship at the port with military personnel.

If this is what the game really looks like, then we are in for some serious surprises.

at 3:57 you see a crane, and behind that, you see more cranes, and behind that.. it looks like a bridge.

1. Is that a bridge in the background of part of the harbor?

2. There are so many cranes in the trailer, and building that are unfinished... I think it's quite obvious that when we'll play GTA V we will be in control of the city somehow.

I think it will all be about money, and getting permission to build on certain places... a game based on money and power.

Is there anything to map from the reflection on the rear fender of the cop car during that chase?

You guys can get all that from some shadowy buildings? That's f*cking amazing.

SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS GAME.

I know this was posted some time ago, but I'd like to re-clarify:

Anyone notice that building north of Downtown? There has been debate on what it is, whether it's the Dodger Stadium or Union Station. Here's what I'm talking about:

I have come to the conclusion it is definitely Dodgers Stadium. The shape is reminiscent (though not exactly) of it.

user posted image

If it were Union Station, it would be more east of the buildings, and a lot less larger.

Those wind turbines on the hill remind me of the ones on the 5 on the way to San Francisco from northern California

Not seeing it in the OP, so I'll assume this hasn't been mentioned. If it has, my apologies.

Anyone notice how the base of the Mile High Club looks very similar to the shot of the red car being chased by the cops. The same blue tarp covering the scaffolding. The scaffolding itself looks about the same thickness (can't really see the material as well as in the first shot because of backlight).

It's the construction site of High Miles Club on both images :

on the small one: north-west side

on the big one: south-east side

Well we are forgetting that Rockstar stated that the map will cover all of Southern California, not just Los Santos. And according to the video, it's safe to suspect an inclusion of palm springs (windmills) and orange county(orange groves/crop duster scene).

Also, the vehicles list hint a ski resort, which could be on Mt chillies, which is based off of Mt Baldy. Also noting the inclusion of the Rhino and the APC in the vehicle files along with military helicopters, which note a military base, either the one next to LAX or the one in the Mojave Desert (there are plenty others, but these seem most likely, since San Diego and that surrounding area is most likely not going to be in the game). Also hinting a larger map is the inclusion of the monorail, which seems to reference the currently constructed highspeed California monorail, which although it stretches the entire state, a majority is in the LA area and the surrounding countries(orange, San bernardino, etc.)

Where do you read that the map will cover all of Southern California ?Surrounding hills, countryside and beaches not sound for me as the entire Southern california map

re-imagined, present day Southern California .. but yeah, it still doesn't mean that they will include all (the entire) of Southern California.. only a re-imagined version.

The surrounding hills and countyside is pretty fracking big. Its obviously NOT going to include the ENTIRE SoCal, because then they would have to include San Diego and a bunch of other Larger Cities. Its probably going to be this general area:

user posted image

Which as you can see includes the desert (with an air force base, mind you), the main city and the surrounding areas (which you can see are orange county and some others. Palm springs is the right, and a possibly included Santa Barbara to the left. Theres also Santa Ana, and Big Bear/ Lake Arrowhead (Likely the Ski Resort, since as for as I know there isn't one on Mount Baldy), and it's not clearly visible, but directly to the right of Edwards is a mountainous area, and just off the edge of the map is Mammoth Mountain, which, most of R*'s maps not being square could also easily include.

I also wanted to note that there could be a possibility of legitimate car dealerships in this game, considering there are many large ones in the LA/OC area, and R* began implementing car brand names in GTA I'VE, which is something they haven't done before, so this could be the next step. Hopefully, even separate Grotti and Willard, etc. dealerships, and a used car dealership? Mileage is an option, plus oil changes, which would allow for deeper customization along with paint jobs, wheels, suspension, kits.

That section of map in the game's chosen scale would suit me fine, with that much variety of topography.
