I don't see what everyone else is seeing with this 3D F. Can someone show me what everyone else is seeing?

I thought it was a rabbit, imo. Likely also the team mascot...

I still fail to see why Rockstar made the Salton Sea, it's such a boring area, nothing there but a few decrepit 'towns' with trailers and dead fish scattered all over..

My first thought too when I saw that new plane screenshot over Sandy Shores.

I really wonder where the freeways go heading out of Los Santos to the eastward direction?  One goes by the Alamo Sea, but does it lead anywhere important?  It seems likely it would loop around the east side of the sea, around the north and eventually connect to the Pacific Highway on the west.  But that other freeway route to the south leaving LS, where does it go?  They wouldn't have a freeway lead to nowhere.

http://www.rockstargames.com/V/screenshots...hot/81/1280.jpg

Yes, the bridge over the LA Docks.... now where does the freeway go from there? According to the blue prints, it heads to some large structure along a coast line. Many claim that structure is a resort casino. But other then that, we don't know. The freeway then seems to head north to northeast up the coastline.

Not to mention the 'Alamo Sea' is just a body of water, nothing more, which is wasted space if you ask me.

It makes the map feel a lit bigger. Imagine if Liberty City was just a chunk of land. You could drive across it in a minute, but since there's water, you have to travel around it, which takes longer, giving the illusion that the map is much larger than it actually is.

By my Logic?

My logic is a post graduate education. A great career in a field I chose and enjoy. With a great salary & 5 weeks paid vacation soon to be 6.

Not that it matters but a IQ of 160 has served me well in life too. However the IQ part of it doesn't really mean much for I feel the test is biased anyway.

Trevors nose? Lets see how the flames are on the 17th.

I have no idea on how many cities there are or will be. That was just my guess on the map shape. Nothing more.

This guy's post contains an image which explains it:

It shows lines where one would figure out the perspective of the F and crown if it were 3-dimensional and viewed from a certain angle, and the shape matches what we see. Therefore, it doesn't represent anything apart from the letters.

It still is a waste of space, the map already is an island, why have the center of the thing be filled with a huge body of water? It doesn't make sense. I'd rather seen LS + LV, would at least be an interesting place to visit and add incentive to go to the other side of the map.

That's a fair reason, plus using the Salton Sea area gives Rockstar an excuse for a dry dusty, hot, decaying desert hellhole, representing a conglomerate of blighted So Cal towns and county areas including the outskirts of San Bernardino, Riverside, Lancaster, Palmdale and even reaching south toward San Diego and Mexico. It also could be a transition region to the Palm Springs area, where the real world wind farm is, as well as high So Cal mountains for skiing and a cable car up to a mountaintop ski resort, if Rockstar chose to include those areas in the game design.

EDIT: The Lancaster - Palmdale area is also the area of the Edwards Air Force Base, and further north is Rigdecrest and China Lake, with the Naval Air Station, NAWC (Naval Air Weapons Center), both of which are where weird Skunk Works experimental aircraft are flown from, confusing the local inhabitants into thinking they are UFOs. These are all desolate desert areas.

EDIT: So there are some fair reasons for including the degenerate Salton Sea, along with this other So Cal and mid-Cal ambiance.

I am hoping that there are other, prettier, higher elevation lakes in the mountains, being fed by the beautiful rivers that Rockstar has already shown us. colgate.gif

You try to make it sound like the addition of the sea is the reason why SF and LV aren't in the game. If this sea is really bothering you that much, don't buy the game. I find your comments about the sea more of a waste of space than the sea itself.

All I'm saying is that said area could be used to build more interesting area, please note that this is my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

This bridge is based off of the Bridge to Nowhere which can be found in Azusa Canyon, Los Angeles, Ca.

It's apart of the San Gabriel Mountains, which we all know the majority of the mountain ranges are based on.

Random side note: I honestly believe the Alamo sea is also based off of the San Gabriel Reservoir as much as it based off of the Salton Sea. This could explain that new screenshot of the Alamo see and the "supposed" aqueduct at the western end.

It's a town, not a small city.

Most towns have historic downtowns and defined commercial streets. This was because during boom years, they grew trying to attract railroads to their towns. Sandy Shores isn't one of them. I know that. I'm just saying I hope we see them.

As for the logo on the shirt, it's the letter F with a crown on top. The name of a sports team like the KINGS or something, but with an F instead. Doubt it's shaped like the map.

Like I said, it's a small town. Small. It might not be the kind of town that want to have tourists. There is a lot of small towns in California. If you look on Google Earth/Maps, there is a big chance you see a lot of them. biggrin.gif

BTW, Sandy Shores layout and name looks like it is based on Desert Shores, California:

Kinda close to that:

I know this has been brought up but in this screen we see nothing beyond the Alamo sea. It's just a haze there are no mountains hat c an be seen at all. Does this mean that's all there is then? Its certainly not mountain giganticus that was seen in trailer 1. It looks nothing like it. That mountain therefore has to be northeast of that camera angle. Im pretty sure a forest is located hter in LA anyway. Does this make sense?

I really wanna see that giant mountain from the first trailer, but I think that scene could be just a perspective angle that makes the mountain looks to be giant... but I hope I'm wrong!

I wonder if I am the only one who likes the Salton Sea area. It is an area I'm exited to see. It seems that people think it is useless. sad.gif

@Above: Some people say it's fake, it's been said by Rockstar. I don't think it's fake.

Your not. Im very much looking forward to exloring the Alamo sea region. It is an environment and atmosphere we have never seen in a gta game before. I love the rundown almost post apocalyptic wastleland feel of the real salton sea/slab city and can see many shady and bizarre characters and situations taking place in R* version of it.

Is hard to tell at this point how R* will envision the water of the alamo. Some shots make it appear as more of a lake than the lifeless pool it is in real life. I get the impression it may be more vibrant below the surface as it connects to what appears to be forested mountains aswell as barren desert. I personally would prefer if it were really murky and full of junk, bodies and interesting wreckage to explore than one full of lush aquatic flora and fauna. This is mainly because we will have that pristine marine life along the coast line already and a darker and more mysterious area would be a nice contrast.

I think this might be the entire map and we haven't seen anything under the red line.

Share your thoughts about it.

It does look like the overall shape of southern California.

The truth is that we'll never know for sure until they decide to show us the map, the outline of the map, or when we play the game for the first time.

Right now, we can only can speculate.

Hey guys, so I was thinking about the map and I'm pretty sure it looks like this:

I don't have any evidence, except that one of the signs said something about balls and there was a screenshot where the clouds kinda looked like this, only upside down, but gosh, the more I think about how many cities I want to be in the game, the more I think R* was sending us secret messages and it probably has to be 100% true!

Same. It looks like it can offer some great story lines and action. I don't understand how people think it's a 'waste of space.'

Honestly, I can't wait to fly over the Vinewood Sign to sea a gleaming sea behind it, or to see if a Squalo at full speed can navigate the Zancudo River possibly with cops chasing me. I also fully expect a few saltwater damaged pleasure boats, maybe an underwater gravesite, of whatever. Honestly, I don't get the people who feel that the map is poor because there isn't likely to be another city, I mean there are things like heists in transit. I think they just suffer from something Mick Jagger sung about.

Also, flipping the map 180 one day and the LS Kings symbol being the map on another, fanaticism can be a bad thing guys.
