Nice one. Do you still have the original location of this picture?

Also, does anybody else still have the vineyard location that was found sometime ago? I looked all around here and couldn't find it.

What do you think?

biggrin.gif

You're new, so I'll cut you some slack.

We already discovered where that beach scene is of course, that beach scene is Santa Monica (pretty obvious if you ask me). We actually already found those mountains, however they weren't closely analyzed. You did seem to give more love to analyzing it. It makes perfect scene its Malibu, since Malibu is directly west of Santa Monica. And yes, that house could be in Malibu.

Need someone to check this out, look in this gif, in the 3rd frame you can see a reflection in the car. Now it looks like grass/farm land and in the distance, what seems to be a huge bridge take a look and see if you can find out where the grass land might be and the possible bridge, ignore the red circle, another user put that there showing something different.

God Damnit! You're gonna kill someone. Stop using the GIF image and get a still of the cop car at the right angle sad.gifsad.gifsad.gifsad.gif

if someone could teach me how to put a photo on here i could get the correct frame on?

EDIT: i think i worked it out

To me it looks like a "2002 Landini 5H Series" tractor when you have the pic frozen (maybe theres bigger tractors in GTA V

than the ones in GTA San Andreas.

It's one of the alleys from over here. mad.gif

It doesn't look based off any particular alley, the Google street view van only drove through 3 of the alleys so tough luck on finding any exact match (if you think there may be one). I don't even think the apartment design is really based off any of the buildings, those ones in the trailer have more complex roofs, the only give away to this place is the alley style (the one in the trailer is wider though). And many liberties have been taken with the grittiness.

@Fantastichumore: The seagull sounds you hear in the house scene would imply the house in next to the beach. The only house I found that somewhat looks like it though is the "Ashton Kutcher house" in Hollywood Hills (lots of tabloid coverage of this place jamming up my searches).

@ Jamie Smith: Cars don't reflect dynamic objects (meaning, any object that is affected by the physics engine). And that hasn't anything to do with mapping Los Santos.

@boxmonster true, it really is becouse when I just look close to the picture I can see that this is definitely not "Malibu" ^^

The map of L.S is condensed: we can see the top of the Sierra Tower near Sunset Strip (West Hollywood) from Santa Monica Pier

user posted image

Santa Monica Buildings also hide beverly Hills (Golf course, Beverly Hilton Hotel, 9777 and ROAR building, Via Rodeo). The big dark building in the right of the pier image seems to be in Century City.

These locations on a map of L.A.:

I forget to add the Hollywood sign in this picture

These same locations in L.S. (the green area = view from the pier) :

@boxmonster : I don't think it's this big House near Hollywood Reservoir but I have nothing better to propose

Also, does anybody else still have the vineyard location that was found sometime ago? I looked all around here and couldn't find it.

Hillside vineyards with rocks can be found in the Santa Monica Mountains near Malibu

Hey koeklin!

I must say I disagree with you on this Santa Monica Pier thing.

I don't think the building you highlighted is Sierra Tower. It is way too close to the beach to be it.

I agree however on the fact that LS will be a very condensed version of LA. Just not THAT condensed biggrin.gif

Wow, keep up the great effort guys. I've seen this thread for a while popping up on the forums page, but never bothered to look into it (66+ pages mercie_blink.gif ). But now I see for myself how dedicated some of you fanboyz are. Wow, just wow.

It is pretty condensed, to give you an idea, look at the Griffith Observatory in that same scene, it is even further from Santa Monica than that building, yet you can see it clearly.

I was just doing research on LA, and this is indeed in the Baldwin Hills area, also known as "The Jungle" a very violent, gang infested area Just west, and a little south of downtown LA, off Crenshaw Blvd. It is featured in the movie "Training Day", as a place frequented by Denzel Washington's character.

Funny, being not familiar with LA, I always thought all the places I heard referenced in my gangsta rap songs and the LA hood movies of the early-mid 90's were all in the same general area in South Central LA.

The truth is, this area, Baldwin Hills/The Jungle is a pretty far distance from Compton. This area has The Jungle, Crenshaw Blvd, just a little south of it is the famous intersection of "Crenshaw & Slauson" (referenced in many gangsta rap songs, and serves as the setting for the beginning of the conflict in the movie "Boyz N The Hood". I also don't think it is that far from where "Friday" is set (between Normandy & Weston, niiiiigah).

Compton is much further to the South & West, and actually doesn't have as many famous ghetto landmarks as Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw. There are the Watts Towers, but those are a little north of Compton in (surprise!) the City of Watts.

What I have written on saturday 17 on another thread:

Finally, I think that the vineyards scene is a parody of the Malibu Family Vineyards, which is in Malibu countryside, in the mountains behind. At lot of people are going to say that it is a parody of Ventura county, but just take a look at the ground, and you see that the ground is uneven, with rocks and slopes right in the middle of the vineyard. So they are on a hill, and from what I know or see, there are no vineyards on a hill in Ventura county.

1. That building I believe is the Millennium Biltmore Hotel which is very close to the U.S. Bank Tower in real-life. I was actually looking for the L.A. Public Library to see whether it is represented in the game, but because there are so many clustered buildings, I'm not entirely sure. It might be either the LA Public Library or the Biltmore Hotel, albeit redesigned since R* takes liberty in these landmarks and maps.

2. That red area I highlighted was posted a long time ago, but was completely overlooked to my surprise sarcasm.gif. That area I believe is meant to represent the San Gabriel Valley, a real-life middle-class suburban area north of Downtown Los Angeles. Also, I'm assuming it's also meant to represent the San Fernando Valley, which in reality, most of it is not directly connected to the main city of Los Angeles and most of L.A. County and is separated by hills and only connected by highway, with the exception of a small gap between Glendale and Northern Los Angeles. R* seems to be taking the liberty of re-imagining the San Fernando Valley and its cities directly connected to the rest of L.S. (and presumably Los Santos County) instead of that huge gap in real-life, and combining it with the San Gabriel Valley. I don't mind this, since this is not GTA: Southern California. This is GTA V, a re-imagined Southern California. A huge suburban area more directly based on real-life L.A. with more to do and more landmarks north of Downtown L.S. will be A LOT better than a few hick towns (ahem Red County).

Im Starting To Think... Why Don't You Make A Map ? The Second IMG made me think about this.. building a map is cooler than sitting down on the chair waiting for new info...

Actually there are some tries in the OP, and there's also a real life location map on Google Maps, but there's nothing definitive.

We already do, it's called the "GTA V Maps" thread.

Also, there is a makeshift map: it's on the first page.
