Rockstar replied to an E-Mail I sent to them about the Hiker shot. I asked if it had been removed and if it was Chilliad!

Thanks for the email - it’s always great to hear from fans who are excited about GTAV. We haven’t specifically identified the area in the screenshot that you sent over, but rest assured it hasn’t been removed from the game and there will be lots of diverse areas to explore in GTAV, including mountains like this and much, much more.

Cheers,

Rockstar Games

Way cool! So it's not a chroma key biggrin.gif

This map is based purely on facts.

Every location has been thoroughly studied and positionned on the map according to the screenshots and trailers we have seen so far.

I spent a great deal of time making it and making sure nothing was added based on speculation.

Of course, several things might be located at the wrong place but given the intel we have right now, this is how myself and others would put things on the map.

Here's the latest version :

I still have to draw the buildings inside the prison and to add the six antennas in the desert.

I also need to update the index with the buildings of sandy Shores.

Keep in mind that this is a constant work in progress.

This is also a community project and every feedback you can give me is very important for the making of this map.

So please, tell me what you think is missing or should be updated, enhanced or removed.

But remember that speculation cannot be taken into account.

Now after this great speech, I'm off to bed my friends.

I have a few questions regarding your map, for you and also anyone else who wants to answer.

1. Is the Alamo Sea above sea level and so the rivers are flowing to the ocean, or is the Alamo Sea below sea level and so the rivers are flowing from the ocean?

2. Have CVG updated their map recently and added a second river in the western portion of the map. When they first released their map one thing I noticed is that they only had one river in the western portion of the map. I wondered why? They have seen the game but they only put one river and I don't think it would be hard to miss if there were two rivers. So have they updated? If so can I have link please.

3. On your map, the large mountain directly N of Alamo Sea is the large triangular mountain we see in bank tower screenshot, correct? What distance do you estimate there to be between the bank tower and the mountain summit (as the crow flies).

If you have played Far Cry 3, do you think the large triangular mountain is larger, smaller or equal in size to the large mountain on South Island of FC3?

4. What type of distance do you estimate there to be between the southernmost point of the map to Griffith Observatory and from Griffith Observatory to the northernmost point of the map?

5. How many small towns do you think there are throughout Blaine County and how many of these towns have we seen in trailers in screenshots?

Is the land sloping down away from us or sloping down towards us?

Is the river flowing down away from us or flowing down towards us?

@RockStarNiko, sorry, can't answer all your questions right now, but some of them:

1. Is the Alamo Sea above sea level and so the rivers are flowing to the ocean, or is the Alamo Sea below sea level and so the rivers are flowing from the ocean?

The northern river exactly flows to the ocean, it is clear looking at the screenshots and trailer2, mostly thanks to the waterfalls.

They did not put the second river onto the v1 map because, as Dan Dawkins said: "Unfortunatly my brain isn't a working videocamera so I can't go, like you know with, back and say exactly things are certain right."

They saw the nothern river in the demo and, they think, Jossiah mountain.

Here is their v1.1 map http://i.imgur.com/VGsPKg1.jpg

That's odd, but looking at the Zancudo river shot from the viewfinder I see a waterfall and so I think this river (the river to the south of mt. Zancudo or 'Jossiah') flows into the Alamo Sea.

Update: or it flows along the Alamo Sea to the east like on the Jbte's map, but I highly doubt about that.

@jbte, why do you think zancudo river flows to the east and why have you put a lake and a river outflow in the southeast (behind the mountain/hill)?

Well in real life those roads do indeed lead into The Port of Long Beach. So if R* modeled the map to represent real life which they probably have, those roads wouldn't lead off to anywhere else but a port.

WHAT???? So how can they say it hasn't been removed if they haven't identified the area????

That's amazing, but well, it wouldn't fit the size/ratio of the announced blue-print map

What's your take on that?

My take on that is that I think the blueprint has two sides

and we have only see the side showing the city.

The other side must show the whole map.

Just my two cents.

I'm not too sure about that.

The shape of the GTA5oclock map would fit

Lots of previews stated that you can easily get lost in the mountains, forests, etc. It's such that massive.

Reminds me of this scene from trailer #1 - Imagine being on top of this mountain - holy sh*t ....

user posted image

you can probably not get there, it's just like Red Dead Redemption where in the trailers you saw all the mountains but in the game they were boundaries

RDR is landlocked, meaning mountains are the end of the world. GTA is an island and we have planes and parachutes so it's all available.

is this 100% sure? I hope so

nah I think if one side wouldn't be the full map it would be more close up to the city and the other side would be the whole map, but this doesn't really look like a close up^^

also the map looks enormously huge, I think most people just have problems to imagine the size how it will be ingame^^

Wait a minute, this map is NOT showing us true land mass. It's Just a blueprint to give clues of the location of points of interests. Look at the beach, it's not showing the sand area. Just a faint lines. Barely visible. And there are similar areas West of the city.

I don't understand how you can say that there is no speculation in this map. The way you make the landmass north of LS expand to be much wider than that of the land around LS seems like nothing but a huge assumption to me. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Brilliant stuff Fido.

Be sure to include the Sierra Tower in your next update. smile.gif

Sierra Tower is in the map already. It's the blue square between Richman Hotel and the Observatory wink.gif

Fido, the two cessna plane screenshots show a texture lattice in the sand. If we assume that this is consistent throughout the map, the two beaches must be at 45 degrees to each other. Since we know the Los Santos beach angle, the other one must be angled at due east.

If I read it correctly, your map shows them near parallel.

I'm not sure I understand properly as english isn't my mother tongue.

You think I should change the angle of Santa Maria Beach in relation to Vespucci Beach ?

If that's it, I don't think so as I carefully reproduced the blueprint map and it shows the beaches almost linear.

In addition to the current map you have, I think you should make a very rough map, based on the same one, but with speculation.

I'll leave that to you guys wink.gif

Well your map is based on a theory that the blueprint doesn't show the true width of the map...

Well, my theory about the blueprint map is that it has two sides :

- one side zoomed in on the city, showing only the city and immediate surroundings.

- the other side showing the whole map, with the city occupying a much smaller size on the map.

This feeling I have is reinforced by the map I made and all the evidence we have on screenshots.

I don't see how all of this could fit together if the map doesn't expand toward the east.

I have a few questions regarding your map, for you and also anyone else who wants to answer.

1. Is the Alamo Sea above sea level and so the rivers are flowing to the ocean, or is the Alamo Sea below sea level and so the rivers are flowing from the ocean?

Well, if water is flowing from the Alamo Sea into the sea, then it must be above sea level.

Check out this screenshot : it is 100% sure that water is flowing toward the sea.

Yes, I believe they added a second river going west from the Alamo Sea. I must say I don't care much for their map as it is almost entirely speculation.

The reason for their only river on v1.0 is that maybe during their showing of the game, the second river wasn't on screen during Franklin's jump...

Link to v1.1 a few posts above.

Yes, the mountain north of Alamo is the large triangular mountain in the bank tower screen.

However, I have absolutely no idea about distance. I prefer not to dive into this as many others are already working on it.

I prefer focusing on the position of things rather than the distances between them.

And it is certain that distances on my map are wrong because screenshots can't give a precise idea about distances.

4. What type of distance do you estimate there to be between the southernmost point of the map to Griffith Observatory and from Griffith Observatory to the northernmost point of the map?

See above wink.gif

5. How many small towns do you think there are throughout Blaine County and how many of these towns have we seen in trailers in screenshots?

Well, no idea about that really.

We know there is Sandy Shores along the alamo Sea. There is also the small town seen on this screen.

There is the settlement along the highway where the Rocket Bar is. And the town in this screenshot. And maybe a small village (abandonned?) behind Trevor here.

I believe that's all we've seen so far.

In the above screenshot

Is the land sloping down away from us or sloping down towards us?

Is the river flowing down away from us or flowing down towards us?

I don't know about the slopes. for me they're going toward the river as they usually do in real life.

about the river, I believe it flows out of the Alamo Sea, so toward the camera.

Some people see a waterfall on this screen, indicating that water flows out of the sea.

Personnaly, I don't see the waterfall but I still believe that water is going toward the left of the screen, in the sea.

at 48 sec in Michaels trailer when he punches a guy, where there at is beside/under the los puerta fwy sign.

It can be seen at top of screen

Well, that's the general consensus and I agree with it.

That scene should take place just south of the Mile High Club.

I don't understand how you can say that there is no speculation in this map. The way you make the landmass north of LS expand to be much wider than that of the land around LS seems like nothing but a huge assumption to me. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

True.

But after analyzing the various screenshots, it is the only way I can make everything fit.

Basically, I arranged the map so that the coast goes around all the elements I've been able to include.

Of course there is still a bit of speculation but it is mainly just about the overall shape of my map.

Am i the only one who think there will be a big suprise in the north side of the map?

You're not the only one my friend wink.gif

I believe there is still a large part of the map that remain to be seen. Mostly, north of that big mountain and on the East side of the map. wink.gif

Thanks for the reply Fido, it seems you have taken the time to say that the landmass must extend eastwards north of LS, and since you're the one who's done all the work, I'll just go ahead and believe you wink.gif if the map is about the size of yours, that'll be good, but we can still hope for a 'secret north' smile.gif
