Mapping Los Santos! Building/landmark analysis

Lots of previews stated that you can easily get lost in the mountains, forests, etc. It's such that massive.

 

Reminds me of this scene from trailer #1 - Imagine being on top of this mountain - holy sh*t ....

 

you can probably not get there, it's just like Red Dead Redemption where in the trailers you saw all the mountains but in the game they were boundaries

Yeah, there is no way that certain areas won't be accessible. If we could go anywhere - and I mean, literally anywhere on that map - in San Andreas, why not in V as well?

Maybe, if they are too steep (I doubt that) but you can always parachute to the top of them.

If we have aircraft we can simply parachute onto the mountain. There are no inaccessible areas of mountain in the game and if there are I think R* would piss a lot of people off. As for the bushes that's pretty stupid it's not like they're gonna line the mid section of a mountain with bushes so you can't journey up the mountain that's ridiculous.

The map is just perfectly positioned, the desert looks like it's in location that R* would position it same with the rest of the countryside and the woods.

 

You have to add towns in the green areas though, same with the desert, it looks perfect so far, imo.

I imagine there will be roads leading to the summit, as there were with Chiliad in SA.

Oh yeah I forgot about that quote thanks. So if we can fully explore the tallest mountain in the game is is pretty much certain that there will be no unreachable areas in the entire map. Not including city areas.

This map is based purely on facts.

Every location has been thoroughly studied and positionned on the map according to the screenshots and trailers we have seen so far.

I spent a great deal of time making it and making sure nothing was added based on speculation.

Of course, several things might be located at the wrong place but given the intel we have right now, this is how myself and others would put things on the map.

 

Here's the latest version :

 

I still have to draw the buildings inside the prison and to add the six antennas in the desert.

I also need to update the index with the buildings of sandy Shores.

 

Keep in mind that this is a constant work in progress.

This is also a community project and every feedback you can give me is very important for the making of this map.

So please, tell me what you think is missing or should be updated, enhanced or removed.

But remember that speculation cannot be taken into account.

I wonder of the desert will occupy the northernmost portion of the map. I remember Dan Houser saying that 'the desert is the ultimate limit of Los Santos', which I took to mean it will be as far away from the city as possible.

I still have a hard time believing that Los Santos could be the only city. While the small towns are nice, the map looks so bare without any other large metropolises. Either way, Fido, you work has blown me away. I admire your dedication, and even though I've been busy with personal issues, it's nice to login every couple of days and see just how much your map is progressing.

Fido, the two cessna plane screenshots show a texture lattice in the sand. If we assume that this is consistent throughout the map, the two beaches must be at 45 degrees to each other. Since we know the Los Santos beach angle, the other one must be angled at due east.

If I read it correctly, your map shows them near parallel.

98% Possibility that this shot was taken at GTA version of the Ballona Creek end of the Marina del Rey bike path. The marina is just southwest of Vespucci Canals. You may google it up for additional images.

Marina Del Rey is on the Fido's map already, as well as the Lifeguard tower. Agree about the bike path, would be cool to have a bike race there.

Rockstar replied to an E-Mail I sent to them about the Hiker shot. I asked if it had been removed and if it was Chilliad!

 

Thanks for the email - it’s always great to hear from fans who are excited about GTAV. We haven’t specifically identified the area in the screenshot that you sent over, but rest assured it hasn’t been removed from the game and there will be lots of diverse areas to explore in GTAV, including mountains like this and much, much more.
