And these (again: if my estimates are correct) would be to scale:

http://i.imgur.com/1ZAGGVn.png

I think this scale is off. According to this, the 4 lane highways in V are just as big as the 2 lane ones in SA. Los Santos from SA is a lot smaller therefore the whole SA map is smaller.

I think LC in the second picture is also a bit smaller.

I dont know if this has been pointed out yet but i think we now have a view of the area opposite the liquor ace from the 1st trailer.

nice catch.

i think this could also be the same spot.

Here's another comparison: 1 square km in Liberty City vs. 1 square km in Los Santos. To me, it doesn't look like it's too far off.

It also has the motel, and the mountain behind the airstrip. See here.

And, somewhat more speculative, 1 square km of San Andreas countryside vs. 1 square km of Blaine County:

It says Officially that the map is of Los Santos and Blaine County, so this does NOT include the Salton Sea region, Grapeseed, The Mountains, Forests and Lakes.

Its a much bigger map than you think, and all of it does not fit into the Blueprint map released with the Collectors Edition.

I thought that Blaine county constituted the entire countryside, where did you hear otherwise. Personally, I think you're deluding yourself.

Numerous articles have stated 'Los Santos, Blaine County and its surrounding areas.

Red Dead was BIG, those horse were pretty quick and this new one is 5 times the size.

I think your deluding yourself. wink.gif

It's 'Los Santos and its surrounding areas' or 'Los Santos and Blaine County'. Los Santos is the city area, Blaine County is the countryside.

You can't compare maps by comparing the width of the road on them it just doesn't work like that.

At least, we know how big SA, IV and RDR are, by the meter.

As they all had somewhat round numbers, 8,000 by 10,000 meters for V may be the best estimate for now. It would also kind of fit with the 86 to 107 ratio of the blueprint map. (86 by 107 is a known fact... all we have to figure out is what 1 is, and my guess is about 94 or 95 meters.)

Side by side, at 20 meters per pixel, these maps would look like this:

This thread is amazing. But in the end we don't have the slightest knowledge of how huge the map will actually be.

Rockstar has confirmed ever since the announcement that it will be about 3.5 times the size of RDRs map (5 times if you include underwater area), which is roughly the size of RDRs map, SAs map and IVs map COMBINED.

These sketches look rather small because it's downscaled drastically by Rockstar to fit such a small poster size.

Once we play the game we will fell off our seats because the map will be so huuuuge. It will feel endless and it will take so long to walk from one end of the map to the other.

Rockstar is suprising us all about how huge it is. icon14.gif

Blueprint Map

This exclusive, additional 21.5” x 26.75” map displays a blueprint view of Los Santos and Blaine County. Cryptic markings indicate locations for fast cash and other points of interest for the up-and-coming entrepreneur.

MAybe the blueprint is not the whole map, otherwise they could say that and not los santos and blaine county, blueprint are for technical purpose, so its main use would be for heists (like the pic of Michael) and those mission will involve two areas, LS and BC.

Also I think the game will have a normal map in the case in all editions, so there is no point having two identical maps (blueprint and normal)

It's interesting that the grid of the GTAV world, the extent of the coordinate system, would apparently be the same width as Red Dead Redemption (7500 pixels if rendered at the same resolution). It's like GTAIV's map being 6000 pixels wide after GTASA was 6000 units wide, even though GTAIV didn't use all that width. It implies how the previous game is a starting point in building the next one.

So if my estimates are roughly accurate, then the dimensions of GTAKiwi's latest map are 11,000 by 10,250 meters.

In other words, if you resize it to 1,100 x 1,025 px, it fits into that 10 meters per pixel outline:

Not sure if I've made a new discovery here but here you can see the unshopped map would be showing the 'B' row, while the area we've seen is mostly the F,G and H rows.

It looks like it will be made of 9 rows named A though to I, and 7 columns wide.

I'm just saying it'll look like this.

This is some excellent analysis!

I'm still trying to make sense of the 7-by-9-ness of the squares, vs. the 21.5-by-26.75-ness of the map, vs. all the rest we know about the map size.

(Of course, there's still Fido's theory that this side of the poster only shows part of the map, and the full thing is on the flip side... but to me, the side we're seeing shows too much to just be a detail.)

sorry dude, but these things aren't numbers. look closely and u will find out.

I'm not arguing Covington isn't Covington. This is not an issue. I knew it when I saw the trailers.

This is all speculation, like 90% in this thread. Though it's a good theory. Water towers aren't unique art pieces. They could have put the "same" water tower as a placeholder too.

Hello guys! smile.gif

First of all, thank you all for your effort you're still putting into this map research! icon14.gif

This is just incredible!

It's one of my favorite topics on this forum!

My apologize if it has already been discovered or discussed before.

But I believe I found the location of Michael's house.

Take a look at this picture:

user posted image

Attention! The image is very big (1280x4330p)!

1, 2 and 3 are highlighted buildings.

Do you think, I'm correct?

I'm sorry once again if the exact location of Michael's house has already been pointed out!

Yeah I looked into Michael's house location again, because I wanted to nail it this time. We knew the location would be slightly east of the golf course, at the base of the high building. I used every single screenshot I could use, analysed multiple buildings and angles, and then saw your post, which is 100% in agreement what I found. tounge.gif I think you nailed it, and although the house itself has not been shown (from a distance) that location seems to be spot on.

I wish it was slightly more west, a bit further away from the skycrapers and a bit closer to the golfcourse. Also, a bit more north would have made the house even more expensive and luxurious. But I guess we'll have to deal with the fact that Michael's mansion is at the base of multiple high buildings. Curious if CVG is going to change this one in an update.

Alright! smile.gif

Nice to see that I'm not the only one who payed attention to the position of Michael's house smile.gif

Judging by this screenshot I also thought that Michael's mansion is somewhere in Vinewood Hills. But then I saw the trailer #2 and recognized that the mansion is not in Vinewood but near the golf course between two big buildings and a crane.

Now I'm pretty sure this is the correct position of Michael's house.

Thanks for your response! icon14.gif

agree - great spot - I did not think it was up in the hills due to the large building -

There is also a large road right behind Michaels House - between his house and large building - this can be seen in these screen shots as well.

icon14.gificon14.gificon14.gificon14.gificon14.gifcookie.gif

Thnaks mate! icon14.gif

Well, since we localized the position of Michael's mansion, I thought maybe we could add it to the map.

I took a piece of map made by Fido_le_muet and added the position of the mansion to it. The mansion should be just in front of the Luckman Plaza:

user posted image

@ Fido_le_muet:

Sorry mate! I used a part of your map to add the position of Michael's mansion to it.

I hope it's OK. Now you can easily correct your big map adding this location. biggrin.gif

Bob that valley is where the big road runs between south of the dam and north of the southern hill. It's huge because everything is huge. See the green crate next to the helicopter's camera ball thing? That's where there is a rail bridge crossing the river diagonally.

Thanks! One thing you'll notice though, when looking at that superimposition... one would assume that the landmass more or less fills the whole map area, so GTAKiwi's northern outline of the countryside may be a bit too far south.

UPDATE: also it is worth to check out my other post i think.

UPDATE2: yeah, light green line is another one more close to the river, is is also visible on the blueprint map but more thin.

Oh, Bob, Bob.. not even know what to say. I do not think it is speculation, to me it's everything clear about that. Too many reference points matches and matches the blueprint map. Here i edited your picture (not sure about light green line, need to be verified):
