To be honest, the vineyard could actually be in Mexico.

Here's the scene:

Here's a real-life vineyard near Tijuana.

I know it might sound a little to far-fetched, but this is a lot more plausible then the San Jose vineyard, not to mention Mexico, especially Tijuana, has a good chance at being in GTA V. But really, the vineyard could be anywhere in the SoCal-Baja California area.

That might also explain the mexican people then? Wow! It would be amazing to have Mexico in the game. Wonder what they would call it?...

Perhaps, though they could be Guatemalan actually since a lot of immigrants from Central America often take vineyard jobs.

I know no one can really estimate how big the map is as the trailer didn't show enough but isnt it possible to calculate the distance of what we have seen to understand the scope like the oil rig or pump scene from the pump all the way to the other side until the buildings are gone or as far as the draw distance showed of the city? Or Any scene for that matter that shows a good distance like the scene with the huge mountain

Why do you want to search so far away: you can find exactly same hillside vineyards (with rocks) as the GTA Trailer in Santa Monica Mountains, close to L.A.

Do you have an Image.. So we can compare it with the vineyard in the trailer

Bakersfield and Palm Springs would make sense!

Both within reasonable distance, and both have an airport, the one in bakersfield a little air strip. Palm Springs also has the windmill farm mentioned earlier.

I am trying to locate the single frame we get in the trailer supposedly in Palm Springs, I have found some street views that match somewhat!

you guys should join, should be possible

Also, im sorry if this has been mentioned:

Don't those peaks look alike from different perspectives?

It can be a nearby airport of the LAX, Los Angeles International Airport

It can be one of these airports:

Bob Hope Airport

Whiteman Airport

Van Nuys Airport

It can come from an airport in Lancaster or Palmdale

It maybe coming over Angeles National Forest

Possibly coming from Lancaster

As you see here, the location of Hollywood Sign, marked with "A"

Mexico is a bit "Far Fetched" There are plenty of SoCal Vineyards... Just because they are Mexicans (Which we don't even know) doesn't mean they are in Mexico...

Maybe Las Venturas?

Cause when you take a flight from Las Venturas to Los Santos in Gta: San Andreas, the airplane flyed exactly like that above the Vinewood sign.

But it could be anything, who knows.. tounge2.gif

I think the vineyard might be in the US, using illegal foreign labour, which is why the crop duster plane just went overhead without a care for the workers as they can't exactly take their grievances to the authorities.

The rest of this thread though, especially the first post, that is a seriously good effort to dissect it all like that! They'll surely have the LA Convention centre somewhere as well, no way can they ignore the home of E3 lol!

On the GTA V Main Trailer Analysis topic, page 332, bud23 makes a good point that the mountain with the hikers could be R*'s re-imagined San Benardino Mountains. He thought the mountain might be San Gorgonio. That made me think about the structure at the top of that mountain in the trailer, which has been a topic of speculation. This is not a real good match, but I thought I would suggest that maybe the strucutre could be a ski logde wiith a bunch of windows for people to look out on the mountain / valley view. I tried to clean up the strucutre in Registax, but I still can't see any detail:

Then I thought, one other possibility is that the structure could be the R* re-imagined equivalent of the top end of The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway on Mount San Jacinto. Here is a Google Earth pic of that building near the top of the mountain:

This is not a super good match to the strucutre in the Trailer however, because the actaul Palm Springs tram building has a big 3 story wheelhouse type of structure where the trams come in.

Anyway, i thought i would put these up just for the heck of it.

I thinkthe fact there is a structure that high up on the mountain proves we can get up it or climb? Maybe there is a road. Before some members were speculating it was unscalable but this probably proves otherwise

Mile High Club = La Live RitzCarlton/Marriott Hotel?? Sorry if this was posted.

Hotels and residences

Hotel tower

The centerpiece of the district is a 54-story, 1,001 room two-hotel hybrid tower, constructed above the parking lot directly north of the Staples Center.[2] Built by Webcor Builders, the skyscraper contains both an 879-room JW Marriott hotel on floors four through 21 and a 123-room Ritz-Carlton hotel on floors 22 through 26. Floors 27 through 52 hold 224 Residences at the Ritz Carlton condominiums.[10] Groundbreaking for the structure took place in June 2007.[10] The project was completed in the first quarter of 2010.

Maybe r* got the reference before 2010....

I dont know if someone already said this so apologies if they did. But imo, the mile high club is the structure behind the one in question. See it? Its on top of the one in the foreground, looks very similar and the colours and design are very similar too. Also in the trailer of Gta V the mile high club is of similar height to the U.S Bank. Again sorry if this was already noted , i just dont have time to look through 59 pages for it biggrin.gif

What do you think?.

@saintsrow, what is that structure in the second image?

the building in that picture is the tram station at top of the tramway. It is not quite at the top of the mountain (Mt San Jacinto). There is a huge area to hike up there including going the rest of the way to the top of the mountain.

It is hard to find pictures of this building. here are a few:

You can see the big windows (two stories high) which have a view out into the valley.

What do you think?.

But because it was still being built when GTA V went into development, it would explain why the two don't look very much alike.
