Mapping Los Santos! Building/landmark analysis

IMO I think the runways may be larger than the ones in LC. So I'd shrink the comparison of LC against this map a bit. Either way, it looks fantastic, let alone massive. Notice the road the goes off of the map in the bottom right? That's further past long beach- maybe there is another smaller city down there?

Just a thing about that gorgeous map.

I think the scale of the countryside is a bit off.

The previews mentionned LS being about 1/8th, 1/10th of the whole map.

In that map above, LS is just a third of the map.

Well, the scale generally given for the whole map is 3.5 RDR's for the landscape of the map (5.5 for the map as a whole). It makes sense that LS, a city roughly the size of LC, would be about a third of that.

Part of the harbour area with cranes.

 

There's a freight line that runs along that road, and another on the road to the left of that in a loop.

How did you even decide that based on this map. You do realize that V's Los Santos is a lot bigger than SA's right?

I'm starting to think that's a highway that exits the city and heads SE then East. Similar to the highway at the right-middle of the city that heads off to the Northeast.

 

What's to the South and Southeast, though? No one really knows.

Anyway, as much as I want there to be a new region in the south, it would be fairly odd if it there was like some sort of appendix hanging there, only connected to LS by one road. Also, I agree that it looks like a big road because it is a fat black line, but there are quite a few roads which are also 'fat' and I wouldn't call them major roads. I don't have the screenshot right now, but if anyone could post the screenshot from Michaels trailer where he drives from the Vinewood Hills in his red car and the East LA area gets revealed, that'd be great. That shot shows the bridges in the far south, and nothing behind it. Of course you could argue that it's due to draw distance. Anyway, my guess is that the mysterious road to the south bends towards the airport. There is probably just a tiny area south of the map so far, probably as far as the airport will reach. The rest is water. Just my guess

I would imagine a city as big as La Puerta (San Diego) would have a larger network of roads if it is in fact, in the game, and located south of Los Santos. This just reignites my hopes that San Fierro and Los Venturas are in the game. (Yeah, I know... I'll keep dreaming).

It would seem there's nothing past the Southern mountains, that's the only thing that disappoints me the most.

I predict that the road leading south from the city definitely leads somewhere they don't want us to know about. Maybe the border. Think about it... Michael's in heat with the FIB already. He's going to be doing HIGH PROFILE heists, and end up with a lot of cash. Plus in a preview they said he was one of the most wanted at one point. People, I think he will at some point flee the country.

V's LS is at least 3 times bigger than SA's (probably more). That makes the entire map almost 2 times the size of SA judging by Noeks' map.

The city looks small from above but it will feel huge. Just like any other Rockstar city. The city is maybe 15 - 20% of the whole map and we've only seen about third. There's a whole section of the map we've yet to see.

 

EDIT: I think there's a slight chance we'll actually see the full map before release.
