Is the Alamo sea the in-game name for the Salton Sea?

Yes it is.

BTW: You guys are awesome. Nice work so far.

What do you think of the idea i had with the Vandenberg Air Force Base? It is located on the west of LA and would be an option for the base they announced in the previews.

It's located close to the Alamo (Salton) Sea, just like the Motel in the new screens and the petrolstation (which behind the liquor store).

These buildings have had several minor changes in textures and shape.

Good find, makes me wonder if we will not see active construction sites, from the building to the left on the picture. I think that would be amazing if say we have an empty lot in the start of the game and after so many hours we have a fully constructed high rise toward the end.

WhateverTrevor

I can confirm after much study that you are an idiot. It's blatantly the mountain on the right of the shot with Trevor and the dead guy, just from a different angle.

*Facepalm* for the NOOB

It's definitely not the mountain with Trevor shooting the guy.

Am I the only one who thinks that the shot with Trevor shooting the guy and that triangle mountain is the same? Obviously from a different, closer up angle though.

I agree, but posting stuff like this without proof of why you make that claim is kinda useless.

I updated the post with my proof.

I agree with you, but lol for the "much study" lol.gif

EDIT: Okay, if it is Zancudo then it would make sense looking back when the reviewers said 'Chilliad is no longer the only peak in GTA' and they could be referring to Josiah which can be seen in that screenshot, seeing as how they mostly got a glimpse south of the Alamo Sea.

Meaning that Zancudo is Josiah and the mountain to the left of Zancudo is the other one whose name I can't remember at the moment.

This being said, that would mean the Alamo/Chilliad mountain range would be hidden to the right of Vinewood and to the far north (out of the screenshot), meaning that it would be bigger than we have expected up until now.

In other words, what RockStarNiko had said in regards to the size could be right, although I still believe it is Mt. Alamo in the lighthouse screenshot.

(Avant tout, pardonne moi Fido. J'ai pris ton map comme victime parce qu'il est le plus complet dis-t'ons. biggrin.gif )

I tried to put things into perspective and ended with a square based map. I haven't done it purposely, but knowing Rockstar I wouldn't be surprised if the map resembles it. Alamo Sea takes a big chunk of the map, therefore a round island is unlikely. Every bit is harnessed by such geographically dense open world.

(Don't mind my paint expertise. The pink stars are possible urban areas or non-existent areas. I know there's more to the Est (Catalina Island?) and North (Chilliah+small city?)

No you not the only one, it has become quite a common theory.

The mountain behind Trevor's head is not only the large triangular one north of the city, but it is also the central mountain in the lighthouse screenshot AND also it is the mountain seen in trailer 1 with the hikers

I think they are 4 different mountains though.

To go on what BennyBlunts4 had said in regards to Mt. Zancudo, and what I said on Mt. Josiah...

That would mean that the mountain seen in these screenshots in between Vinewood and the Griffith observatory is also Mt. Zancudo.

Most of us assumed it was Mt. Alamo before finding out that the Zancudo mountain ranges actually ran east-west and not north-south like we originally thought.

The reason I believe he might be right is because just north of the Vinewood sign we can see the Zancudo river flowing towards (or away from, doesn't matter in this case) the Alamo Sea in the image below.

user posted image

Which would mean that anything in between (to the left of) Vinewood and (to the right of) the Griffith observatory would need to be Mt. Zancudo.

I'm assuming it's because of perspective, in the bank building shot Zancudo looks much taller than it does in the other shot.

The abseiling pic is maybe half as high as the bank tower pic.

You can see much more mountain(s) from the top of the bank tower.

Something like this:

That's assuming they were taken from roughly the same distance.

I think Rockstar are faking pics to throw us off. ph34r.gif

I tend to agree with this. All the analysis done of the screen grabs and trailers, they would have to throw people off the trail. icon14.gif

If we are to assume that Los Santos is to the left of this shot, then we are looking west. Therefore main ridge of this mountain (Zancudo) runs East-West towards its peak, as it is coming 'towards' the image.

user posted image

Now the main ridge of Zancudo in the background runs left out of shot, instead of coming 'out of the image' like in the first one. Because this ridge runs East-West, and it is running left-right here, then we have to be facing south here.

user posted image

This is much harder to decipher, but assuming the central mountain is Zancudo due to its pointy appearance and straight sloping sides, this image is looking north, therefore it is looking in the exact opposite direction to this screen.

All of this leads me to believe that Mt Zancudo stands between LS and the Alamo Sea, rather than being off to the side.

You guys are giving me a headache with all these arguments about the mountains.

Northern mountain is Alamo. Eastern is Zancudo.

Not much else to say really.

I think in this screenshot below we are looking North. The main mountain in this shot is Zancudo/Josiah

The Mt. Chiliad mountain range BEGINS to the West. I circled where I think it begins.

Well I hope you are right tbh, because we know that Chiliad is the highest peak, and if the mountain in that image is only Zancudo as I stated on the last page, then Chiliad would have to be ridiculously big.

We're just saying that the mountain seen in the bank tower image is Zancudo, not Alamo.
