Seeing as the two pictures on my map below have the the same background, that means sandy shores is certainly not the trailer park on my map.

So by looking at the position of the lighting screenshot in my map below, where do you think the sandy shores picture is located on that map?

Great work everyone. I don't know if i want R* reveling the map yet. Its interesting seeing the concept maps taking shape, but once we've seen it all and mapped it i guess they can release it.

I'm interested to know what mountains in the screens we haven't seen the other side of... it must be hard to tell because mountains look different a different shape depending on what angle you look at them from. Some of these mountains we're labelling separately could be exactly the same mountain.

Which mountain on Kiwi/Fido's maps in the one with the red arrow?

That is the one on top of lake Alamo which is called Mt. Chilliad

Gotcha.

So does that mean the Mountain i circled in blue is the one next to the Zancudo River?

Umm, but... what's this, how could this possibly work out?

I believe the blue Cuban just circling around the runway - in the first shots, when we see dishes to the left, it turns right to the west, We see the hill in front of the plane, i think it could not be any hill except the one we see under the satellite dishes in the shot with night lightening. After that we see the next series of shots, where the Cuban 800 moves in the opposite direction to the east and is about to take off. In the second series we see the blue Cuban from about the same point as red Cuban in the second trailer - exactly the same mountains, the same wooden hangar and unrecognizable frame on the ground. And i agree with the fact that we see the prison to the right of the red Cuban.

Awesome, your map's looking great! What will you do to check the scale accuracy?

Thanks!

Well, about the scale, there's not much I can do.

I'll wait for new areas to pop up to the North and East eventually...

Currently, I'd say my city takes about a 1/6th of the map so I'll leave it at that wink.gif

These are directly next to each other, we can tell by the view of each mountain and hill. They're identical. So we know there are dishes at the entrance of sandyshores.

I agree. Looks like Sandy Shores is located just next to those satellite dishes.

However, it's still a little weird cause there are no settlements visible there on the screen below.

Maybe the altitude is too high ?

@ lxr : Mate, you really should add a link to your mountain album in your sig. It always takes hours for me to find it ^^

Yeah, i talk about it in previous post. That's why i think this Cuban heading to the west or southwest on this shot, but heading to north in the next series. Great that you illustrated it.

UPDATE: huh, but you are wrong about dishes - we actually see all six in the shot with Trevor, you did not mark rightest one, sixth one on the first shot.

Yeah i put it together pretty quickly and didnt count em just put dots in to show the dishes general location.

I thought about marking in the 1st screen where the 2nd one was shot from but had a bit of a brain fart and gave up trying to figure the orientation.

EDIT: THanks for editing my error

Common sense tells me that states always have more then one city or county inside of them. Even though I said those cities names doesn't mean it is what they are going to call them. So yes my logic is that there are other cities that are not being shown by R*.

It's not the whole state though, only a part of it.

Yes the only part they are showing, they also said LOTS of surprises why don't some of you guys get that?

What are you guys talking about? Just because Rockstar said that there are still lots of surprises in Grand Theft Auto V, doesn't clearly hints to another city. We haven't really seen all of what Los Santos has to offer us. By now, we've only seen Downtown Los Santos, Vespucci Beach, LSX Airport, Wilshire, Vinewood, Rockford Hills, etc. The places we haven't seen of Los Santos are south, east, and west Los Santos. The overall shape of Grand Theft Auto V appears to be big enough, so why add another city? Opinion-wise, when Rockstar said ''Lots of surprises", they could have been referring to new activities, cars, or maybe multiplayer features. By the way, if Rockstar showed all of Los Santos already, then please explain why people on this forum is still mapping out "Los Santos" only? Overall, Grand Theft Auto V doesn't need other big cities to be the "GTA: SA top game", GTAV is already a winner! smile.gifsly.gif

Fido, dude, the LS Forum isn't isolated like that. Look at trailer 2, it's right by houses, sewers, train tracks, most likely grove st. too.

Lol I know that mate.

It's just that we don't know yet where exactly the houses and the roads are located.

That's why all that area is still empty wink.gif

It definitely has, there's a thread dedicated to GTAV's police cars.

@Fido, I tried to compare locations from Franklin's trailer to your map and I think that they are in wrong place. Take a look at this:

I think you are right. I have a question. Is it agreed here that The Forum and LA Memorial Coliseum combined into the one building named "LS Forum" in the game or we have both? I'm pretty sure we see Memorial Coliseum arch in this shots, but in the newly released trailers we were shown The Forum, or it is just different sides of LS Forum?

I guess Sandy Shores could still be a bit further to the east. If its position, relative to Mt. Alamo, was rotated by a few degrees, the mountains would still look pretty much the same.

Hmmm, you make a strong case my friend.

Looks like all of this fits very well together.

But that would place all these ghetto scenes immediately south of Downtown!

Actually, when checking on this, I noticed something :

user posted image

Does this look like a church to you ?

If it does, then I believe we can link this Downtown shot with the ghetto.

Woud be great but that also make the city a bit smaller than we thought.

@Fido good spot, although I think it's important to note that this screen is looking SW, not south, as I believe the Mile High Club to be SW of US Bank rather than directly south. This means that south LS extends left out of shot. IMO the Gerald Desmond bridge marks the furthest point south and that is pretty far away from downtown.

Ok so I've collected all the images that I think represent my theory about the countryside. I realize that this contradicts pretty much every map on here but the new US Bank screenshot got me questioning what we have mapped in the countryside so far. THIS IS SOLELY BASED ON THE SHAPES OF THE MOUNTAINS. About the artwork: they may not be as reliable as screens, but R* don't just make locations up for them, they are still heavily based on real in-game locations.

That would mean that the Alamo Sea runs in a North/South axis, contrary to what we have on the maps right now (ie. East/West) ?

Is that how you see things ?

@ omawnakw : No way that's the Forum my friend.

It is way bigger.

Up until very recently I pictured it as it is in yours and Kiwi's maps but now I'm not sure which I believe tbh.

Yeah, looks tempting...

Maybe you should include this screen too, which is kind of the missing link:
