Mapping Los Santos! Building/landmark analysis

Thanks for the kind words guys.

I didn't include the ghetto because we have no idea of where it's going to be. Although I'd bet my hands it's located in East Los Santos.

Same thing about the Golf Club and the For Sale House. I couldn't figure out where they should be.

South Central anybody?

Tried seeing where that guy was, what do you think?

Also you should be able to get an idea where the golf coarse is if you find out where either of these buildings are, because than you could use the us bank building and roughly triangulate it

This might be obvious but the house that is pictured when the guy says "So I bought a nice house..." looks like a typical house on top of the Hollywood Hills.

^^^ Actually, I also made some hand drawn map and I also put the house in the Vinewood Hills but since it's a very long shot, I didn't put it on the map of the previous page.

I looks like there's a somewhat distinguishable building far behind the for sale house. It's to the left.

Might not be enough, but you guys are pretty good.

They look like buildings in the Valley, but the foreground looks like something in East LA.

While it's hard to tell the orientation, these two appear to be the same structure.

Hello again guys.

I did this wednesday but I decided to redo it to be on par with what's going on here.

Check it out:

Feel free to reuse these pics if you find another landmark/building wink.gif

Good Work icon14.gif

I uploaded a folder containing screenshots and a .PSD (Photoshop) file with text already prepared for editing and swatches. Those who have some skills with photoshop should be able to use these files for a quicker identification process.

Is the construction site this:Wilshire Grand Tower A?

Looks more like the JW Mariott Hotel..

EDIT: I may be wrong...

it might not have anything to do with any real-life building projects in Los Angeles....im betting the under-construction building in the Los Santos Skyline is something that is critical to the plot. the trailer certainly makes it seems like it will be. maybe the protagonist(s) will be doing some dirty work for the real estate developer, or maybe the protagonist(s) will be the developers themselves.

Key Club and Whiskey A Go-Go are about 3 blocks away from each other in real life. Here, they're right next to each other. Hopefully, this will give a little more perspective as to the size aspect of Los Santos.

Well actually it's more of a case of just moving things around.

In real life the Roxy is between the two, and it wasn't cut from the game it's just further down the road, on the other side of the street.

Also you've got to love that little walk sign man. Swag.

Someone wanted to use the blimp as a central reference point but the problem is that it could be moving. One thing is for sure its always going to be facing the same direction which is south towards the coastline so it can be used.

Ive tried working out hopefully West and East coords. Mountains are in the north similar to real world California topography obviously.

Theres seems to be a lot of mountain ranges in the north and south directions which is odd becuase the south is where pleasure pier is. Is whole of Los Santos surrounded mostly by hills except for coast?

Well thats all I can do for now may try and make a mock up map tomorrow as for now, really tired.

One thing Ive realised doing this is that its not easy I have a new found respect for you guys. Keep up the good work. smile.gificon14.gif

Okay, edited above post.

Based on those two images, we now have a [very rough] idea of what West Hollywood will look like in the game. I'll draw out a small map and post it. Also, I made the mistake of not color coding everything in every image the same color. I'll do that from here on out. I suggest you guys do the same to avoid confusion.

Here's a quick map I did based on the trailer and on the geography of Los Angeles.

Keep in mind that this is a very long shot and is probably 90% wrong.

Feel free to add things I may have missed wink.gif

would the wind farm BE on that specific part of the mountains though? I am just posing the question if that would be the ideal place for the wind farm?

Unless its mimicking the real life location of a wind farm which may already exist?
