Whoaa.. interesting find ^^ lol

it's interesting that they'd change the map around that much during production, unless of course there are two of these buildings which I highly doubt..

The building changed a bit in appearance, see the 'ribs' on the top. I think we can all agree that the first screen shows from the north, and the second from the east. The building has probably been turned 90 degrees. I'm still not sure if we are looking at the same building, though. Both regions are obviously the Vinewood Hills, but I don't see the highway (as visible on the second screen) on the first screen. I still think it's possible they modeled two of these arena's close to each other, but that wouldn't make sense on an artistic level.

They actually are two different buildings. R* builds the map first, then builds everything else.

I don't think they are different buildings though, I think they just changed its look and positioning. You can see the seating area behind the building in both screens built into the hill, just the hills and the look as well as the degrees of the building have been changed. This is the kind of "polishing" R* were talking about I think. It looks better now though imo.

Do you guys think the first picture might be NE Los Santos we haven't really seen yet? You can see the observatory (i think that's what it is).. so where is the observatory in relation with downtown?

After looking at it closer they do look like two different buildings.

I suppose there's always the possibility that they moved the building completely. I don't know, I just think the area looks too similar for it to be two different buildings, unless we can find the other building (if there is one). If they were the same, then the Observatory would be over the hill on the right side of the second pic, just out of shot.

I can see how those two places are mistakable. Have a look at Fido's map for clearification.

I'll check it out. Thanks for the clarification.

EDIT: Ah, I see now, so is there one building on either side of the Vinewood sign then? That would make sense now. I must say though the scenery and road looks very similar in both

That is the observatory, yes. So you're looking at N/W Los Santos, not NE, but I guess that was a typo. This is the area past the golf court and I really hope that there is some coastal highway leading to a Malibu area, like in reallife LA.

Map

Yeah I was about to post that. It shows that Fido was ahead of us, as expected. tounge.gif The first screen (above) is from the Greek Theatre, and Fido seems to have the roads pretty well mapped. The second screen shows the Hollywood Bowl, and you're probably coming downhill from that green road from the Vinewood sign. The highway on the second screen is also there on Fido's map, the one from downtown, passing the dam, the windmills etc etc.

Not sure how to resize images so sorry if they're a little big.

Don't know if this has been brought up before, but did R*change the map layout a little. Don't know if it's exactly the same position but it very well could be. The hills are changed, I think the background is too as well as the structure of the building.

And now...?

I think these are in different parts of the hill... The first screen shows the game's version of The Greek Theatre while the second pic with the different hills/slops is the Hollywood Bowl (or Vinewood Bowl)... Two different parts of the Vinewood Mountain Range.

Also a good map, curious if you had influence from Kiwi and Fido's maps? Because they do share resemblances.

Since we're mapping the same area, they should all look similar if everything is placed correctly.

I look at everyone's work and ideas and try to determine how to fit everything together. The ones that I can recall at the moment are:

Lol fido, your scale is WAY off.

There will be a lot more countryside.

Not finished yet

Something interesting to consider is that in the valley we have seen in the north/north west area of the map there are two railway bridges running north through the mountains at the very north of the current area we have seen. That means there must be an area of considerable size north of these mountains that we haven't seen so much as a glimpse of yet. I'm hoping for a snowy, high altitude alpine area, which they would understandable want to keep hidden until closer to release. To anyone that has played Uncharted 2: remember the train level where you entered the extremely long train tunnel in a tropical environment and when you finally emerged you were high in the Himalayas, with snow everywhere? Imagine that with GTAV, minus the tropics and the Himalayas replaced with the San Gabriel range.

The map is only what we have perceived to have seen so far. There's obviously more past the border of fido's map. I think it's Kiwi that has another version where there is more of the countryside mapped out, but don't quote me on whether ir not it's Kiwi. It should only be a few pages back if you want to see a bit more of the map. Fido is generally more doing the city with the one he has so far.

Considering the latest map in OP, the map looks smaller than San Andreas. Even though it says that its not the complete map

You're saying something very interesting here.

Yes, there are two train bridges in that valley with the guy parachuting and Trevor's train crashing).

That means there is quite a large area north of that mountain range otherwise what's the point of having TWO FRAKING RAILWAYS going through ????

This is making me very very confident about the map size. The area north of these mountains should be at least the same size as what we have south

of the Alamo Sea. And we haven't see anything about the eastern part of the map.

This is big people ! seriously big !

Thanks for pointing that out kesta, it makes a lot of sense. wink.gif

Then you're the one who made this. I think they're the same mountains, which would mean Grapeseed is far FAR north of LS and Zancudo mountains?

I think we can all agree we will need a bottle of windex once we see the actual map.

Anyway, the map is much larger than what is mapped out so far. Theres going to be many details within that map aswell, it wont just be empty space. Im confident all the whiney people who are saying "Omg the map is sooo much smaller than I expected! sad.gif" will soon change their mind.

30 square miles would be ideal and realistic for many, but it seems Rockstar are pushing that 30sqmi.
