Mapping Los Santos! Building/landmark analysis

Recommended Posts

Okay, this is purely speculation but I could use a second opinion.

The building circled red looks a little bit like a Chinese-type building. It may also very well be a regular building under construction, but it does have a slight distinct look to it.

The green is even more confusing. The things that crossed my mind were the Beverly Center, Staples Center and Dodger Stadium. It may be connect to the building/thing on the left... It may not.

Geographically, Both Dodger Stadium and Chinatown would be in those respective general areas.

Thoughts?

Nice work, guys. Are there any apparent similarities between this map and the map from L.A. Noire?

the map from LA Noire is a nearly 100% exact, street by street recreation of a small portion of Los Angeles. I'm guessing this wont be the case in GTA V because V doesn't actually take place in Los Angeles, it takes place in Los Santos. looking at the trailer it's obvious that Los Santos is not a street by street recreation of LA like LA Noire was.

Agree that L.A. and New York, just over done for games and in the media as well. When Kim Kardashion was putting down Minnesota, I flew into a rage, glad it got props in GTA IV from Rockstar at least. I've lived in MN all my life, nothing wrong with it at all, but she sure is a spoiled brat

As far as LA and the real Los Santos comparisons, not as big a shock anymore, we know it's not just the same in name alone

I'm sorry but that whole post was quite irrelevant and had nothing to do with the post you replied to...

BoringAdultWithAFatGirlfriend

everything in this thread looks on point. However, I believe there are a few "Standard" hotels, one of which is part of the LA skyline just south of the US bank tower. The rooftop bar is featured in movies a lot.

Hello again guys.

I did this wednesday but I decided to redo it to be on par with what's going on here.

Check it out:

Feel free to reuse these pics if you find another landmark/building wink.gif

Here's a quick map I did based on the trailer and on the geography of Los Angeles.

Keep in mind that this is a very long shot and is probably 90% wrong.

Feel free to add things I may have missed wink.gif

I APPROVE OF THIS MAP

Nice work again Fido!

Awesome thread. I also think that map's probably spot on. Hopefully there's water on the other side of those mountain ranges, but still...

I doubt it. I bet half of the map will be forever ocean, and the rest unclimbable mountains. I'm sure you can climb them, just not all the way to the top.

How would that work? If you fly out in a wide arc around the map, you'd bypass the mountains. It can't be mountains on one side.

StoneyWhistle

I doubt those mountains will be unclimbable, and I'm sure it'll be just like in all the other GTAs, like an island. Anyway, only problem I see with the map is it's messing the ghetto, but we've seen nothing about that part yet. Cheers.

Maybe the mountains will be higher then the flight limit. There for if you try and fly over the mountains, you will fly straight into them.

Yeah I know that, but you could totally bypass them by flying out to sea and around the island.

Well if there is a sea to any side couldn't you just keep flying along the coastline?

Well maybe they will make the mountains really long as well. I have no idea.

Yeah that makes more sense. Infinite mountains.

What about Beverly Hills?

It will be in there. Rodeo Drive is a street in Beverly Hills and we've already seen Rodeo Drive.

Yeah, I thought so. Well that's exciting. Going to love to shoot up that rich-ass town.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

I didn't include the ghetto because we have no idea of where it's going to be. Although I'd bet my hands it's located in East Los Santos.

Same thing about the Golf Club and the For Sale House. I couldn't figure out where they should be.
