The location is a relatively good match, too.

Great find! It really does matches the location, but I think the building has the Rockstar's twist treatment! smile.gif

The Unknown Man

Those bridges are the same? If yes, can someone help me to figure it out where the airport is located?

Yes they look to be the same. They have the same 'X' construction

Looks the same. The distance seems to indicate that it's on some sort of peninsula. IRL it's close to the Palos Verdes Peninsula and I can see Rockstar smushing that area together and making it a mix of Palos Verdes and LAX.

Could this building be these buildings?

Based in the beverly hills area, they make up a similar shape to the image.

Perfect!

There's one thing that bugs me though. Take another look at that screenshot:

It's rather well established that the helicopter is close to the VINEWOOD sign (as opposed to obscuring it). That gives us a lot of hills between the sign and the observatory (plus the Hollywood Bowl). Also, the Sierra Tower seems to be at the same distance as the observatory -- maybe a little closer, but not much.

Now take a look at this (the white X in both images marks the tentative Jim Morrison Fitness & Parking):

This implies all the hills from the first image are visible in the second one, the observatory is not far off to the left, and Michael just happens to obscure Yamashiro Restaurant. Now is the first Sierra Tower (with a lot of greenery around it, unless it comes up from behind) really the same as the second Sierra Tower?

Bonus questions: Just right from the Sunset Hotel, there appears to be some sort of cliff. Where is it in the Helicopter shot? And where in the second shot would you place the Hollywood Bowl?

I'd say it's hidden behind those trees down and to the left of the Vinewood sign.

One more... Has it been established if the same high-rise building is visible in the background of these two shots?

You got to identify where is the road under the copter on the first screen and locate it on the screen where Michael fires at the copter. With this, you'll be able to locate easily the bowl I guess.

Im certainly getting the feeling that there will be some very interesting hill climb type roads in the suburbs - races will be cool there.

It would be nice to see a really high up aerial view of the city with CLEAR air..if the draw distance is so good...fckng well show it too us R*.

The ghetto identified in this screenshot was Baldwin Village in Crenshaw. I'm not sure of that building, but it could be perhaps the USC Film School, which is roughly between Downtown and Crenshaw.

All I know is that the red building has been identified as the Jefferson Motel from SA wink.gif

I was more interested in this one:

^^^^^^ Couldn't see screens, but I think I know what you meant. And it's the same thing that is bothering me. However, I think we have to wait for more screens or videos to find out what it exactly is. From one view we can see some sort of power lines, probably for trains, but from another perspective we no loger can see them.

As for Los Santos, the more screens I see, the more I think the city will not be huge at all. Look at photos of real LA, how dense skyscrapers are build in Downtown and how far is to Hollywood sign.

I can sort of agree, but they obviously tried to make it look dense. Just look at the repelling shot and the shooting from a helicopter shot. Between the avenues are lots of houses and shops. It looks aweome. This city might not be bigger than Liberty City, but it damn sure looks more exciting and nicer to look at.

The size of Los Santos alone doesn't bother me though. We've got suburbs that lead up to the city, and behind the Vinewood Hill, it looks like the managed to include towns such as Burbank and/or Simi Valley.

I literally cannot wait to explore this map, the wealthy suburbs, the sports car filled avenues, it all looks awesome and better than Liberty City by a long shot.

I was looking at the new GI images and some people where saying that the lads where robbing the star tower or bank building. I took a look at one of the images and found some buildings that match up. So the building that they are robbing isn't the star tower as it isn't in the right place.

In this image you can see the Star tower in the background.

from page 208:

Also, I don't know if you've noticed: This east-facing Game Informer screenshot has an unidentified high-rise in the lower left corner. This building should be visible in other shots as well.

Yeah, it is an unknow building as of yet. We have many glimpses of it but no clear shot. That's frustrating !

It is on the very right of this screenshot as well.

just to add some pictures to the text:

just wanted to add this picture (92 frames used, motion tracked, picture quality enhanced with own photoshop script), even if it's not that important anymore:

It is a video game dude, they can't reproduct the city exactly like IRL... Look at Liberty City and compare it with NYC... If R* wanted to make a pure copy of the cities in their games, the map of GTA IV would be the bigger map of all time.

You guys are forgetting that Downtown LA is just a small portion of the overall city. We still really do not know what is south/South east of Los Santos, and really do not know really how far it stretches North West. Still many areas that we have no clue about.
