Awesome finds MrThingus !!!

I must say I'm impressed ! I've always been reluctant to look for industrial buildings cause that seems like way too much area to cover in real life.

I'm glad you found all these things. Makes me want to look there myself :D

Thanks. La Mesa and parts of Cypress Flats seems to basically be the industrial area of Downtown Los Angeles, which makes it a whole lot easier to comb through.

Agreed. Nice finds. Never thought to search for the pier shops. :^::^::^:

I'm searching for some warehouses & industrial buildings to the south of Mirror Park at the moment.

The real life buildings are not as boring & generic as you would think. Most of them have their own style & distinctive features.

Cool lxr.

I hope I didn't hurt your feelings by complaining about the slowness of the map.

I am very grateful for the work you've put into making this interactive map and I didn't want to sound like that guy.

@ lxr

I'm using a Mac, & Safari is hopeless for the interactive map, but works really well with Google Maps.

Chrome works well with the interactive map, but is useless with Google Maps. Go figure.

We've added a lot of locations to the map lately so it's probably expected that the map would slow down a bit, but anything you can do to help would be really appreciated by us all.

Hey, no, no hurt feelings at all. It's just embarrassing that it's currently slow ;)

There's absolutely no reason for it to be slow, even with 1,000 landmarks. As I said, I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is, it's actually unrelated to the map itself, I think I know how to fix it, but I still have to do some careful testing to be sure it doesn't break other things.

I went ahead and finished up Del Perro Pier.

[...]

Great job! :^::^::^::^::^:

Hey lxr,

Do you want us to slow things down on the map while you fix the issue ?

Hey lxr,

That comment made me laugh so much.

I'm already doing that involuntarily. I can't find a bloody thing at the moment.:lol::lol:

And you can't even go inside %99.99 of these worthless buildings. They might as well have just made the city out of solid gray untextured cubes....

This building (or the clock tower at least) has been posted before, but I can't remember who by & where else it's located in the game.

May have been somewhere in Vespucci I think. Maybe it has been used a couple of other times. It's so hard to keep track of everything now.

Real life. Urth Caffe at 451 Sth Hewitt St, Los Angeles.

In game. Warehouse & clock tower on Popular St, La Mesa.

Sorry guys, I wasn't aware it was wrong to double/triple post.

With only a handful of us posting on here, it's bound to happen quite a bit, so stuff it.

La Mesa - Darnell Bros Warehouses

East 6th Street Warehouses

Sha8B3P.png

Mrthingus, the East 6th St/Darnell Bros warehouses you found are featured at least two more times in the game.

One of them is Material Wealth Fabric Storage on Little Bighorn Ave, Downtown. (obviously a single version)

abj4RB5.jpg0TTFTSf.png

The other is a divided/split version on Dry Dock St, Cypress Flats.

Another duplicate to one of your earlier finds Mrthingus..

This L.S. warehouse on Buccaneer Way, Cypress Flats is a modified version of an unnamed warehouse on Innocence Blvd, La Mesa.

As previously posted, they are most probably based on the Central City Studio buildings.

I knew I had seen it before somewhere. It looks like Rockstar really likes reusing certain assets.

This is an add on to an existing find. Southwestern Bag Co. (Lester's factory/Darnell Bros. Clothing)

pUJyohi.png

In real life, Lester's factory & the warehouse below are part of the same complex of buildings, but in the game they are two separate locations, so I suppose they need their own dot on the map.

In real life, the warehouse section with the dark green roller door is at the back of the building.

In the game, the back of the building has been moved to the side.

No idea were the in game sign on top of the building is from.

In game. Soyler textile on Popular St, La Mesa.

Cheers mate.

Most of the time I enjoy searching for real life buildings more than playing the game.

Having said that, I just went into the game to take one simple photo that I needed, & ended up spending a couple of hours stuffing around in the LS River with a muscle car, jet-ski & machine gun. Good times.

Found a few more factories, lofts & warehouses etc.

They are all located next to each other in real life as well as in the game. A nice little jackpot.

Putting together the pics now. Will post something soon.

@ lxr.

Hey mate, just noticed that some of the ingame addresses in La Mesa have been changed to East Los Santos.

Are you editing them for grouping purposes? If so, let us know what you need the address to be for each area & we'll use it when we add a new find.

It'll save you from spending more of your time in the map. :^:

Edit. Also, just noticed that when I edit an existing location, it sometimes creates a new location in the list on the right hand side & adds a number in brackets next to the in-game name. For example, there are now 4 x Soyler Textile buildings.

Not sure if you knew that was happening or not.

I'll spread these buildings over a few posts, as there will be too many images for a single post.

All of the real life buildings are side by side on South Anderson St, Los Angeles. In the game, they are side by side on Popular St, La Mesa.

The real life Philip Senegram Co building has been replaced by an unnamed warehouse from Mesquit St (up 5 or 6 posts). The name on the building has been transferred to the loft apartments building, & is now called McGrory Furniture.

I don't think I've renamed anything recently. When I did, weeks ago, I picked the region/borough name from the neighborhoods map in the official manual app. I'm not aware of a better source, but there may well be one. In case we decide to change many addresses, I can do that automatically.

The new location glitch hasn't happened to me yet, but I'm going to keep an eye on it.

That's probably because I need to get a new life.

Seriously though, one of my daughters had a group of friends over for the weekend.

They took over the PS3 to play Singstar. There wasn't much else to do, so I hid myself in the study & spent some time on streetview to get away from the noise. My ears are still bleeding.

That particular building was the easy one. It's a bit Art Deco in its design, which made it very easy to spot amongst all the other normal looking warehouses.

Wow ! very cool stuff Wayny !

About the renaming thing, I plead guilty.

I thought it would be better to have all the landmarks east of the river to be grouper as East LS.

It simplifies things a bit I think but we can totally put La Mesa or Cypress Flats if you think it's better.
