CJ may actually be in GTA V

Maylay will retweet anything to rack up twitter followers. It's actually a smart idea. The entire gaming world is buzzing about GTA V.

I think it proves that he has nothing to do with the game. If he was in the game, Rockstar would probably forbid him to comment on things like this.

or maybe he just tweeted it to stir up the pot a bit

also the last guy the bum kind of looks like johnny the jew

He tweeted for self-promotion. Don't be daft.

He retweets anything that mentions GTA or his name

Yeah, there was a guy in the trailer that looked like CJ a lot,so probably he will appear. But Niko as a hobo......I don't think so. sarcasm.gif

He is milking it for publicity.

He self promotes every time a new gta comes out.

The guy deserves a lot more then he has. Money, fans, ect...

He shouldn't have to self promote. I really don't like the way the video game industry doesn't allow people to make a percentage of the 'back end' profits.

Seriously, none of the black people in the trailer looked like CJ. The only reason people are comparing those characters with each other is because A) Like CJ, they are black and B) The black guy running away from the cops had a white tank top just like CJ's default clothes.

The bum thing might be a joke by Rockstar, as the voice actor for Niko Belic complained about how much money he was given, thus they gave the bum some clothing that slightly resembles Niko. A beggar.

YES! He's in the game. Even HHG said that Young Malay was doing work with Rockstar for Gta 5. THis is about the same time he said the game will take plance in LA and everybody laughed.

amaZes me how every Black guy in the trailer MUST be cj. [rolls eYes] thats ridiculous & implies all Black ppl lOOk alike.

the obvious ppl that would be cj - such as the reformed gangbanger turned nerd in the argyle sweater OR the nicely dressed man hammering the foreclosure sign in front of the house that lOOks like its located on grove street - havent even been mentioned.

why would cj after all these years & money & property he acQuired in san andreas be still running from police & lOOking like a gang banger? he would obviously be somewhat aged & matured. that description fits no one in the trailer eXcept the 2 i mentioned above.

Could be. But most people aren't going to appreciate Millionaires making fun of a guy who worked hard to earn them even more millions.

It would be low of R*.

To be fair, it's also extremely low to complain about your payment (as big as it is) after the game has sold far more than you've originally anticipated. If the guy was unhappy with his payment, he should not have signed the contract. It's really that simple. You can't bitch about your payment after the game has sold millions, claiming you haven't earned enough.

It's just greedy. Besides, he got like 100,000 dollars for his job didn't he? That's more money than most people get by doing far more important jobs than being a voice actor.

People see him as being greedy, but honestly he knows that there isn't anyway to change the pay for the actual job. What he wanted is the 'back end' profits. I'll break it down.

If a person stars in a tv show, they get paid right? Of course. But everytime they play reruns that actor gets a small pay check in the mail because he deseves royalties for use of his 'likeness'. BUT that doesn't come without limits, that actor - in exchange for making money from his likeness, can't use that same character voice, name, personalilaty without having permission from the creators of the show.

Michael Hollick didn't want more money straight up. He can't legally go and make a game, tv show, album, ect, using the Niko voice or likeness - BUT R* is profiting by using Michael's/Niko's likeness for commercials, tv shows spots, ect, without paying him.

Hollick did say "I don’t blame Rockstar. I blame our union for not having the agreements in place to protect the creative people who drive the sales of these games."

So if that is a stab at Hollick with the bum holding the sign, I've lost a lot of respect for R*.

Valid point, and let it be known that I definitely do not agree how this type of business goes down. It should only be fair that he also receives royalties if Rockstar are also making money from the Niko likeness. However, I still think that all of these earn and have way too much money as it is anyway, but that's a different economical and political discussion.

HHG said young maylay was in talks with R*, and and the same time, R* on twitter mentioned maylay in one of their tweets. there are lots of rumours, some total BS, but others with credibility, some say that HHG is a joke, but hes been right on many occasions.

Also, if CJ is in the game, he 100% wont be in any trailer, at least the first trailer.

Off topic but it reminds me of how Elton John got all pissy with the Lion King coming out in 3D, because he signed a solid contract for a one off payment, he gets no royalty money and the movie grossed a hell of a lot more then he expected.

Seems like a similar kind of deal.

But back on topic, even if CJ isn't in the game, im sure there will be a name drop of some kind, it wouldn't make sense not to really...

it depends really, if the ghetto/hood plays a big role in the game then i suppose so, but if not (and thats likely seeing as the protag doesnt seem like a gangbanger) then it could go unmentioned. But in SA, CJ wasnt really known outside of grove street, its not like Tommy vercetti where he owned the city.

Kotaku is such a joke sometimes. Not only do they misspell Niko Bellic's name, but they fail to realize the bum in the trailer looks just like Jerry Kapowitz. It's not some kind of jab at Michael Hollick.

They compared that bum to Niko? Um no. They don't even look similar.

i heard that the Hobo is an easter egg based on the voice actor or Niko. After GTA IV was released, he tried suing Rockstar and claimed that he was underpaid, even though he was paid 20% more than any voicer has been paid before.

Kotaku is sh*t anyway. All of those kids need to learn how to write properly.

And random off-topic question; why does a GTA forum censor sh*t?

CJ won't be in GTA V. But I've heard rumours that Young Maylay is co-writing the script for the game.

I can't believe people who actually think they will bring back characters from the GTA III era. They won't. They made that perfectly clear before GTA IV was released if you remember.

SAN ANDREAS SPOILERS AHEAD:

If CJ is to appear in V, it makes no sense to find him running from his life in the hoods, commiting petty crimes in a struggle to make a couple of dollars to live. By the end of SA he practically ruled the state: assets in San Fierro, a share in the Four Dragons Casino, his own personal airport in Las Venturas, turning into the Conqueror of Grove Street Families in Los Santos, sponsoring Madd Dogg as his manager... Damn, CJ must be the president of Los Santos by the time of V.

So if CJ is returning, I'm sure it won't be like a gangbanger, but rather like a businessman or a rich wealthy person. His role could be either giving us missions to do and/or becoming a friend of our main character.

And yes, all of this supposing R* has decided to merge both eras, fact which we don't know yet since they haven't confirmed it nor denied it.
