Islands?

The Hitch

Recommended Posts

Sorry if there is already a thread on this but I have not seen it.

Obviously one of the signature plays by Grand Theft Auto games, is to place the protagoinist in 1 zone, usually an island as that provides the water barrier, with him only being allowed to adventure into other zones as the game moves on, and newer missions force the gamer to explore these new areas.

This has in my opinion always been a success and something Rockstar have kept throughout.

But since the setting is now 1 big Los Santos, which was not seperated into a series of islands in the original San Andreas, nor is its real life counterpart, that presents a question.

Are they going to keep the island gig?

If so how?

The character seems upper or middle class, so the method used in some games of the police not letting you go past certain points doesnt seem likely, and those were over bridges anyway?

Maybe Rockstar does have a great answer to these questions, but if the entire map is available to the player from the start, I for one would be sad to see the island system go.

Well we still don't know how the map will be as of yet, there could be other mini islands behind the mountains, or just one huge island composed of LS and other towns,...

Finally! I'm getting kinda bored of the island system! You would always complete missions for full map access but then when that's over, you really want to complete all the story missions cos you are so into the storyline and once that's over, you feel too bored to explore the whole map; you realise you've already done that by doing all the missions! I hope Rockstar doesn't do that again!

Could just have a system of land barriers, if you cross into a blocked off territory you get 5 stars.

Oh so exactly like GTA4? Yeah sounds like fun. dozingoff.gif

There was nothing like that in GTA 4, plus barriers have been in every GTA game since III.

I hope the island system stays it usually gives a nice flow to get around the game I think RDR and LA noire maps were to straightline and you constantly go back on yourself where as previous GTAs you could start in one spot and easily go around go around the map rather than through it sure we all have preferences of direction when u know where you wana go you just go knowing which bridge to cross and turn to take

lets not forget though RDR LA noiire and GTA are different games so who knows I for one wwould prefer the island system to stay

Not sharing that. Maybe that was the feeling some of us (included me) had in IV, but in SA I explored the map several hours after the story. There have been so many activities and details to explore that it took more than 80-100 hours for me. That s how an open world game should be.

I think not the whole city won t accessable in the beginning. Maybe you re out of prison and have an electronic tag. So you can't leave marked zones. But hey - it seems we have a real highway system. YES smile.gif
