GTA V Police Cars & Emergency Vehicles

I will admit that though law enforcement is a big deal in the GTA Game Series, the level of detail on the police cars is not. It's got a working lightbar and a siren. We all want modern technology, but we don't need it. It would however be a big deal if the lightbar was an old gumball light, which wouldn't happen.

Since Rockstar is trying to be more realistic with their games, they will hopefully include a light bar that doesn't look like it came from the GTA-3 era (the worst mistake of IV for me).

Have you ever seen a New York City police car? Those are the lightbars they use.

LCPDFR won't happen on consoles because it's modded, and consoles can't hold all of that storage and information on the hard drive. That is why clans are popular on consoles. I thought that the FCVPI was stopped in 2008. Either way, the LAPD is trying to switch over to Chevy Caprices.

In 2008, it was no longer sold to the public, but it was still sold to fleets (taxi, police, and security) until it discontinued production completely on sept. 15, 2011. 2012 models were sold to Saudi Arabia, since it would be illegal to sell in the U.S. due to it no longer meeting federal government safety regulations.

Soooooooo, we got a new images of a LSPD car.

 

The original is on top, and I lightened up the bottom image. It is evident the Vapid Cruiser has changed a bit (you can also see taxi's appear to be completely different not just in color, but car style, which is odd). The cruiser still looks like a older model Ford Crown Victoria, but a little different, and not as dated as the LCPD ones.

 

 

 

I would even argue, this particular car doesn't look the same as the Vapid cruiser we saw in the first trailer.

 

Here is a shot from the trailer, a year ago, of the Vapid Cruiser, which was obviously a carry over from GTA IV. They did change the car. . . . but it doesn't look as American from the headlights. Dare I say it looks like a foreign car? Naaawww.... I won't say that yet.

 

Look at the A-pillars on the car. They change in thickness from the first trailer to the screenshots. As do the back taillights.

Found what appears to be a patrol car. Nothing significant here other then it looks considerably smaller then the cars around it for some odd reason. Just thought I'd share it with you. Can't see the lightbar from that far away.

Well I guess its good to see that they're slowly changing the appearance of the police cars. Hopefully all our cries for change are beginning to have an affect.

I don't agree. If you look closely, you can see the front portion of the vehicle is red, and the rear a silver as if it were metal. If it were a bus, it would be longer, orange, and the raised portion on the roof would be showing. I'm pretty sure that there is a car behind it making it appear to be longer.

But the rear isn't silver, the middle is silver, followed by the same color as the front. Here is a better image:

 

 

Also you can see their is a slight shadow from the grey part towards the orange/red, on the left side of the Vehicle which would denote a raise of some short.

This must mean they can be spotted responding randomly unlike GTA IV. This can also pretty much confirm we will be able to witness police perusing NPC's randomly like in San Andreas. I would also like to point out that the magazine said that different NPC's would react uniquely, some reacting violently, some scared, etc when interacted with in certin ways. Also the random events of finding dead bodies next to trucks, broken down cars, etc seems to me like the perfect thing for Police RPing. I can also imagine the magic that the guys at G17Media can do with these in game features if they make the likely decision to create a LSPD:FR.

 

EDIT: And I agree with Rescue, the imige looks more like a firetruck than a Bus to me. looks like it has a distinct cab, something transits don't have.

It's simply an orange colored vehicle. If you look even closer, you'll notice that the rear portion is a lot lower than the main body itself.

It's unlikely they will at this point, at least on the Crown Victoria style cruisers. We still havent seen the Charger - Buffalo cruiser which is considered to be a more modern car so it would be silly looking if they put a mx7000 on it.

If they were going to change the lightbars, they would have changed them in the time of the trailer- the august screenshots when they gave us the new Vapid model. And they havent updated it at all since then, so its safe to assume they've done all they're going to do with the police car we have already seen. All we can do now is hope for the LED bars on the Charger, Lenco and Tahoe.

I'm not sure if you are aware of this, but MX7000s are offered with a combination halogen/LED package too. Just because the cars are fitted with MX7000s doesn't automatically exclude the possiblity of LEDs in GTA V.

I agree -- I think the lack of police lights in the screenshots means they're a work-in-progress. Even if we don't get updated lightbars, I think there's a good chance we'll see other improvements.

 

Personally, I'm pulling for headlight wig-wags, since I always notice them on real-life cop cars. I can believe a cop car with an outdated lightbar -- sometimes these things don't get updated right away, budgets are tight, etc. -- but I remember seeing the headlight wig-wag effect for the past decade at least.

I think that's the last thing Rockstar is thinking about, "bold new direction" doesn't mean sexy police cars sadly

I doubt they will though, I've not yet got my hands on GI, but I didn't see anything different in the images, however I did just skim through them.

 

Out of that six months, the game goes gold some time before that (let's say it goes gold on December 1st), that means that it's the final version and they can't tweak or change anything at all without delaying it.

There was another post showing that the police car model and taxi car model are actually slightly different, so I wouldn't trust that the taxi we see will be the exact same
