This video, by neoluxtextures, is a pretty good example of how the lighting should be. It would also be cool if they put this vehicle in. But if they use a Law Enforecment version of the Landstalker, then that would be cool, too.

I just wish that Rockstar would do a closer resemblance to the Ford Crown Victoria

"Let's go, let's bounce baby! An' When I say bounce I don't mean bouncing literally I just mean..."

"I know what it means Yusuf."

"It's a term from the street meaning you have to walk, but if you don't get that it's a bit like rolling. You have to roll, not like a fat man rolling, it means actually just walk."

"Can we just go?"

My hometown police department uses both halos and LED as said by Officer. They use LEDs on the back of the lightbar, halos on the front, and LED traffic advisor in the deck

Well, just speaking about normal police cars, I think the Patrol and Cruiser mix is good, but they should expand on those two. Since the Merit design is a little old, maybe make a new generation Merit (based off a new Chevy Caprice or the like) as well as an older model, and since the Crown Vic (ish) design is still up to date, add an older (90s, maybe even 80s) Crown Vic. Perhaps in addition a Landstalker car. There you have six different standard police cars, based on the multiple-generation concept introduced by the TBOGT Schafter.

And then, make a police Rancher for the sheriffs, and give the four police cars new liveries for any additional cities.

Also, the older police car models (the old Crown Vic and the 03' Impala) should be relegated to poorer neighborhoods (Ganton, Idlewood) or any (???) smaller cities outside of Los Santos.

AND THEN make a Police Buffalo as well as an FIB Buffalo (the FIB can have a Landstalker too), and consider a police Banshee or Coquette or whatever for highway speeding units.

My concept, shown in pictures:

Sorry, but no retro 70s-80s cars. The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department uses modern Crown Victorias. I'm not sure about rural California, but since many cities in California have a population of 100,000+, the PDs are likely modern.

Back in 2010, the LAPD retired their last 90s Caprice, which is now in some museum. So if the game takes place in 2010 or below, I see no harm in having a 90s Caprice.

Those Caprices were better built than the Vics, according to most Cops I've asked.

But I really, really, doubt the game will take place in 2013. Sure, you might find some 90s cars in rural PDs, but going 70s is going too far.

Well The 70s car was more a reference joke to smokey and the bandit.

But if you remove the 80s LTD and the 77' LeMans, its still a solid selection of cars, just give the sheriff dept. the 93' Caprice.

And maybe if the rumors about a muesem where you can steal antique guns from RDR etc is true, perhaps they'll have a LA. Noire era

Ford patrol car we could steal.

EDIT: there, my previous post is now without 70s/80s cars. But a few leftover 90s cars might give it a nice feel even if it isn't entirely realistic.

People should really get over the stereotype of smaller country towns using old models.

*Even in the smallest and most insignificant towns in America, police departments, sheriffs departments, and especially the state troopers/highway patrol have a number of sources for funding outside of the local revenue for some of the newest police cars and equipment. monocle.gif

Its a trope, isn't all bad. It would provide more variety in police cars even if it isn't realistic.

I know it's not realistic, I'm a yokel myself, and the stateis (State Troopers) use nothing but newish Crown Vics. I don't even know if the country around LA has state troopers or a sheriff, but SA had Andy Griffith type- yokel sheriffs in SUVs (though, they were modern at the setting)

Let's all agree that we want to see a wide variety of police vehicles in GTA. Older style cars in the rural areas, and modern cars in the city.

Oh I think they should improve as you go if possible, haha. getting more fancy, I like the newer rabid flashing bright blue lights. and a more up to date siren. But in case I don't care as long as they aren't annoying in any way.

Yeah I can definitely respect variety. I've always liked the idea of having cars from different years. There are several VC and SA era cars I would like to see back just with an '86 or '92 in front of them.

Well, that's not technically realistic, but I like the idea. Maybe even poor areas of the city get older cars?

Are you serious? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the LAPD doesn't have a Ferrari Police Interceptor. This isn't Europe. THIS IS AMURRICA! Keep it realistic.

That's China. But few Lambos are in Italy and I think in Germany (but Porsche is more popular there), dunno if any other country. Maybe UK and France.

BTW Lambos and Ferraris are faster than any muscle police car, so dunno why wouldn't there be any in GTA V, even if R* North is in Europe.

Let me emphasize that there are NO exotic Police Interceptors in the Los Angeles Police force. There are NO Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Maseratis, or Rolls Royce police cars in the LAPD. So I don't know why R* would put an EXOTIC police car in Los Santos, partly because of how much they cost.

Your reasoning for having them is just because they are fast??

I would believe new Mustangs and Chargers, I would even suspend disbelief for a Corvette interceptor or the like (actually almost as fast as a Lambo/Ferarri). But nearly all Police cars in america are US-made cars, and R* is going for realism, so Lambo police cars are pretty much out of the question for V.

We have been over this thousands of times before about 5-10 pages back. That's final, not exotic sports cars in V.

Or at least not for the coppers.
