GTA V Police Cars & Emergency Vehicles

They could add diffent light signals for the police sirens by holding down the (PS3) square button. There are a lot of possibilitys. Also the X button aswell as the R1 button was handbreak in GTA IV, what was the deal with that?!? It would be perfect if only the R1 button was handbreak and X button was used for something special.

I think they put X as handbrake for those used to it in GTA SA, or they just didn't have anything else to put on it.

I'd personally like to see something like this vehicle controls:

L3 - Horn for regular cars / hold for horn on emergency vehicles, tap to initiate siren and lights.

square - tap to change weapons, hold for Convertible top /switch through the different siren sounds.

X - In regular car will switch through headlights(off/on/highbeams) in cop car will switch through headlights off/on/highbeams/off w/ emergency lights / on w/ emergency lights/ highbeams w/ emergency lights.

I can understand the lack of slick tops in Liberty City, as I don't know if NYPD uses slick tops, but LAPD does, so there should be some, if they can give us four different taxi models( Two of which are crown vic's with different signs on the top), I don't see why they can't give us more police cars.

A little light that can be put in any car via the cigeratte lighter plug that would go on the dash, choose from an old rotator, or a new 1 or 2 color LED or Strobe, and choose the colors for the light also for roleplay as volunteer firefighters.

Be able to use the pay and spray for cop cars.

Unmarked patrol cars can be in a variety of colors and be able to change the color like a regular civilian car at the pay and spray.

Police Uniform PLEASE ROCKSTAR at least for multiplayer for police clans, along with a SWAT, FBI, a neck badge for a detective, Firefigher, EMS, and National Guard uniform, might be multiple varients for the National Guard Uniform all at least for multiplayer.

Am I the only one that gets a warm, fuzzy feeling from the word "Vice?"  tounge.gif

Eveytime I hear that word I start thinking of Ferrari Testarossas  and white suits  happy.gif

Same here. cool.gif

OT: I really hope this time around, R* includes severval different police patrolling agencies (sheriff's deputy, state trooper, each individual town with own car, university police, park rangers, highway patrol, etch.). It is rare in America to drive past 20 cop cars in the same day that are all only from the same agency (unless you're downtown or something).

I highly doubt every town in the game will get its own police car. Of course, Los Santos will likely get its own, detailed Police Department. However, for smaller, rural towns, I expect some sort of State Police to patrol those areas instead. The state police department of California would be the California Highway Patrol, so I expect to see the SAHP (San Andreas Highway Patrol). They will likely patrol the rural towns.

A more detailed solution would be creating county patrol cars. We've discussed the inclusion of the LSCSD (Los Santos County Sheriff Department), but since the game will take place more than just Los Santos, I can see the game being divided into "counties". I.e. directly east of Los Santos would be a large suburban area called "Amarillo County" (Orange County) or west of it would be "Fortuna County" (Ventura County). Each county has its own sheriff department. So let's say we cross into "Amarillo County". We would not see any LSCSD or LSPD cars, just ACPD (Amarillo County Police Department) cars.

Also, since Los Angeles County is not just one huge city, but one huge city with many major suburbs, I could see the main city of Los Santos being patrolled by the main LSPD, while suburbs outside Los Santos considered separate towns but generally part of the metropolitan area of Los Santos would be patrolled by the LSSD, similar to real-life Los Angeles. Santa Monica and Compton are not part of the City of Los Angeles, but rather the county of it. Therefore, because they are separate cities in real-life, they are not patrolled by the LAPD, but rather the LACSD (Los Angeles County Sheriff Department). Now, let's say Santa Monica and Compton are parodied as Santa Maria and Ganton, and instead of being "districts" of Los Santos like they were in San Andreas, they're now separate towns directly connected to Los Santos, like their real-life counterparts are to Los Angeles. They would not be patrolled by the LSPD, but rather the LSCSD.

How do you know there will be multiple places other than Los Santos? That was never confirmed.

And as for the lighting controls, you are absolutely right. Here's my theory, and I have an Xbox360 to change some things up. If the cars are customizable to the highest extent, the emergency vehicles when being customized should have the option to change different siren boxes. But as for controls here's what it should be for emergency vehicles:

A- Hand Brake

B- Emergency Lights On/Off(Hold) and tap to change the pattern

Y- Exit/ Enter

X- Headlights On/Off and tap to change weapon

RB- Air Horn

LB- Window Smash/ Shoot(Hold)

LS- Hold for horn, tap for sirens, and while sirens are active, hold to change

RS- Rear View(Hold) and tap for light pattern change when emergency lights are active

D-Pad Down- Location, Car Name, District, Weapons/Ammo, Money amount

D-Pad Up- Phone

D-Pad Left/Right- Activates alley lights on tap and tap to shut off

I much prefer the R1 Hand brake to the X handbrake.

You know what's been missing in emergency vehicles this whole time? Radios, cop cars have standard radio's like any other car. Also you're forgetting about the Chase cam(not that anyone uses it) tounge.gif

No no, Regular radios. To listen to music. Police cars, ambulances, and even fire trucks(speculation on the last one) all have them.

Edit: A tad off topic(doesn't have to do with Police cars, but does have to do with Emergency vehicles)

Rockstar has been getting the ambulances wrong for forever now.

While most cities do have regular ambulances, ambulances only arrive for minor emergencies. While anything life threatening is handled by the Fire Department.

In New York you have these:

but they gave us this:

LA uses these:

Miami uses these:

In all three places you have these:

If you dial 9/11 for anything serious,, you're going to get a Fire truck(sometimes, other times they just send a fire rescue ambulance) followed by a Fire Rescue Ambulance. These are all state handled vehicles.

The regular white and red are for hospital to hospital transport, and for anything that's not major(heart attacks, seizures). These are all owned by a private company.

Regarding the FM radios in emergency vehicles, I'm not sure about the US but here in Australia police cars, ambulances and fire trucks are all equipped with the stock FM radio. Whether they are used or not is a completely different question. Speaking from experience, the radio is usually always off. When driving to a callout, you are focusing on driving 90km/h under lights and siren, and also listening to your department's radio for new information on the nature of the callout. Plus other people who are in your vehicle are (usually) talking away. In a noisy environment like this, there isn't much time to turn on the FM radio and listen to some tunes. This is probably why in GTA IV single player emergency vehicles did not have an FM radio fitted (or at least functional).

Plus, whenever I get in any car in multiplayer, first thing I do is switch the radio off so I can communicate with others with a headset.

Cheers!

Florida Highway Patrol* have FM radios and use them, but they would turn them off down for a call out. However Cruising around the city should allow for listening to regular tunes.

Adding to my post not long ago that i don't believe anyone saw, also some other stuff, Nightsticks should really return to the game, a flashlight, not nessecarily having to work, a melee taser, also a few other types of fire trucks, a ladder truck, and a woodland fire unit simular to an F250 4 door with a water cannon. a button that could be used for the horn on the siren, possibly the down button.

Police cars already have a horn in GTA IV, hold the L3 and it sounds.

If you hit the horn in a real police car while the siren is sounding, it just changes the sound of the siren(which it does in IV already).

0:09 onwards

On systems like Whelen, the horn changes the siren sound, but still makes the "bib."

On other systems like the one above, there is an electric sounding "buzz" that is seperate from the siren (does not change siren sound, just makes buzz).

Whelen:

I stand corrected. I figure you meant the regular horn.

Bit offtopic ish, but has anyone seen this?

City of Miami was doing 100+ and weaving in and out of traffic, FHP wasn't going to have that. As it stands right now, he has his job, but they've charged him with a couple things, and nothing has been brought against her.

Edit: Notice that the lights are Blue at night, and blue at red when the sun comes up. They do this automatically, it's because blue lights are more visible at night, and red lights are more visible in the day. Would be a neat touch if GTA:V had them.

Uh no I have not seen that video before, another major thing that I just remembered that can be done for cop cars on GTA V. Have them more tuned so they go faster, in real life their modified so they get a higher acceleration & top speed so we don't need a lambo or some other sports car as a special pursuit vehicle when in real life they can handle it. Maybe a harder to destroy emergency lights that could withstand a gunshot and maybe a rollover.

With the ambulances, Miami's are absolutely crazy, and they contain a lot of equipment fit for ALS, BLS, and physical rescue assignments. In NYC, the FDNY has these vehicles, which are EMS supervisors. All of the ambulances owned by the FDNY respond to both ALS and BLS calls. In Los Angeles, there is a whole different system. There are BLS Engines, BLS Ambulances, ALS Ambulances, and ALS Engines. A medical call for LAFD sends two vehicles, the ambulance and engine. You've got these rescues, which are two man units fully equipped with EMS and fire & rescue tools. Then there's these which are similar to the ones used by FDNY, and hold the EMS supervisor and equipment. Here's the LAFD BLS Engine. This is the ALS Engine. Here is the BLS ambulance, and here's the ALS Ambulance. So you can see all of the different types of apparatus used to handle the typical EMS alarms in two major American cities. There are many more branches to it all, but these units are the basics.

Adding on to the lights being more durable, make it so that when the lights are broken, the siren doesn't get f*cked up.

One more thing regarding sirens; I really think that the Ultra Two-Tone that the CHP uses should be added to the game. It would make for a great traffic clearer.

InSanitable

Given that we know V will include "countryside and surrounding areas" I think we'll see a larger variety of police vehicles this time around. Apart from that, GTA isn't a police simulator. I don't see why most people think that every little detail has to be perfect.

Depends on the department. Many departments have their sirens rigged up through the horn relay circuit so that the tones can be changed by pressing the horn. Other departments may not have this luxury.

Also something a lot of departments are moving towards is the kill switch. When an officer has the siren on and the driver's door is opened, it triggers a kill switch which will switch the siren back onto standby mode, thus killing the siren so it is not blasting in their ears if they need to exit the vehicle in a rush.

Cheers!

I'm gonna switch things up a bit here.

We all know that there is probably going to be some sort of modification garage in GTA V similar to GTA SA. Would you guys like to see Police lights as an add on to the modification options? Perhaps after compleeting a mission where you impersonate a cop, you unlock the ability to put strobes in any car's dashboard and rear window. The lights (and sirens) would act like a regular police car moving any cars to the side of the road, but if you use them in gang territory, you are more likely to get shot at (same with any other police car).

Yes, I think that it should be the same as Saint's Row 2 and 3. Regarding the horn thing, some departments also have it set up so when you honk the horn, it triggers the Manual Button. And if there is going to be police dogs, we may see some of these or even a couple of these for the Sheriff's Office. If there is going to be counties and all surrounding Los Santos, it would also be very nice to see this. Now, something none of us have talked about yet is stations. There's definitely going to be hospitals, police stations, and fire stations located strategically throughout the city, and maybe countryside. Here are a few pictures of what the real buildings look like.

FireHouse>HERE

Police Station>HERE

Hospital>HERE

County Fire House>HERE

There are also fire/police stations in beach areas where they store boats, jet skis, life guards, and equipment.

i would love to see working fire alarms in some buildings, is it just 1 big county, or it is it multiple counties?

That hasn't been confirmed yet. That would be great. Hopefully, we'll see more interactions, such as fire alarms, doors, computers, opening trunks, gun safes, refrigerator, toaster, fire pole, putting on Bunker Gear. If they made it like it was in GhostBusters the game.

My ultimate police wishlist:

Ability to wear a police uniform as a player *

Add wig-wag headlights and taillights on ALL emergency vehicles *

Lights and Sirens on/off on different buttons *

Tasers and police dogs *

Strobe/LED lights on newer cars

Slicktop and unmarked varients of the CVPI imitation

Police chase and respond to calls elsewhere in the city

* = Will be happy with just these

If it is multiple counties, im hoping the state police will return, & not just on bikes. By the way, I wonder what happens if the AI Cops go over the county line in a pursuit? In real life, i think its about 20 miles max a cop can be in a pursuit out of their jurisdiction
