That website is civilian owned, and the pictures are taken whenever someone comes across one in traffic, so it's outdated.

Although they don't seem to be using the new Chargers yet.

I'm just glad they're using the thinner light bars.  Hopefully we'll get the thinner light bars in the actual game, as everyone is using them.

Oh good. I knew the new Tahoe had to be in use. Surprised they're not using the new Chargers because they were featured on Southland (a very accurate show).

As for the thinner lights (currently used be the LAPD), I was genuinely disappointed when the trailer police car didn't feature this. To people that don't pay attention to detail it may not be that big of a deal but so many 21st century cop cars have the thin lights; it would add a lot of realism.

I need to watch Southland, I want to get in the mood for V, shame Netflix doesn't have it.

Good show.

Every time I watch it Here, I think of GTA.

I really don't understand what the big deal is about the cars looking the same as the ones in GTA IV. For all we known the game could be set in 2008 like IV was and even if it is 2012 car models don't change that much and moat cars on the road are a few years old anyways. It would be completely unrealistic to have conpletley redesigned cars if they are in the same universe and the same goes for police cars. NYPD and LAPD use the same cars in real life so why wouldn't their GTA counterparts?

Yeah like every British cop drives a lancer. dozingoff.gif You can't compare a Crown Vic to a Lancer because Crown Vics are universally driven in America while the Lancer isn't universally driven as a British patrol car.

Sigh...

I'm not talking about the car per-se. Nevermind... the people in this section always read things the wrong way and then others join in, then the flaming starts, then things de-rail, then someone crys... and OH GOOD CHRIST suicidal.gif

NYPD and LAPD both use new cars at the moment, with new light bars, police agencies usually replace their cars every 2 years. So unless the game is taking place in 2008 or 2009, it should have the newer cars.

For the most part people here are talking about what the title says the forum will talk about (unlike most forums around here).

*IV wasn't bad and V doesn't look bad either; but due to the lack of info. lately in case you haven't noticed, I'll admit we do tend to look too deeply into things. To people who don't pay much attention to cop cars, IV's police were pretty realistic. However, to those of us that do pay a lot of attention, it's the small things that give police a real presence much like they have in real life. IMHO it helps develop a better environment.

Why does the light bar matter? I'm a little lost here lol. And I also think there's a good chance the game takes place around the same time as IV (2008) so they would be the same as IV then.

It's about immersion and the attention to detail. Plus the old light bars look hideous. tounge.gif

Yeah I guess it would matter to people that like to RP as a cop. But probobly 90% of player wouldn't notice a change or just doesn't care what they look like. So thats why they didnt change

I personally don't care and would like it if R* put tine into stuff that actually affected gameplay.

This is not about RP as a cop nor is this thread about the 90% of the GTA fanbase, that's why it is different from the other 90% of the threads ("who will be the protag. for the 100th time", "zombies?", "CJ in the game?", "where is the info. R*", "what I think about gtaV", "I got a leak",etc.).

*If you know anything about police cars and had attention to detail, you would know that just because NYPD and LAPD use the same model, doesn't mean that they are the exact same car. Both police departments have different cultures as well. No it's not a big deal if the desired features aren't in the game; we know that here, but info is scarce right now and we're trying to get by.

I'm having trouble comprehending why this thread has 48 pages and counting, with 50,000 views.

Does the design of Police cars really matter this much? I had no idea. But if they did change the design, I would like there to be black police cars as well as white ones.

The thing is though that 90+% of the fanbase doesnt give a s*it what the small borderline unnoticeable details on the cars look like so people emailing rockstar requesting that they improve the design of police cars is ridiculous. They aren't going to go back and change something insignificant just because a couple people on the fringes of the fanbase want them to. They know that within the first week of release there will already be mods out for the RPers. I hope i dont come off as offensive because im not trying to offend anyone im just a little lost at how people worry about such a small insignificant detail when there are bigger issues i hope they solve.

You're right; emailing R* is ridiculous, but all I'm doing here is pointing out the lack of detail. GTAV will have a better variety of cop cars than GTAIV so, I'm good.

Yeah I understand. And V will have a better variety because of the countryside and there will probably be a beach patrol BF Injection and motorcycle cops (Im hoping)

Sorry to say that none of the above are relevant at all. You will not find a NSW police car in GTA V and the topic is not about tanks.

I personally don't RP, and I own the PS3 version so I won't have mods to fix the police cars. While it may not be the most important thing, if Rockstar can put detail into every other little thing in the game, why can't they give us the proper light bars? Or an improved lighting system when it comes to the police lights? If other games can get them right, why can't Rockstar?

This is a better request then "Turn signals", "Petrol", etc.

I mean, it's not really the detail of the vehicle people want to change because that's already set in motion and their not going to change that. But the choice of having additional police cars (Marked, Unmark, Slicktop, ETC) and having better police lights would be better. Cause they have been making these same damn police cars for years. I think they need a change and the police lights are just $hit.

I fail to see how people giving honest and fair critique on one of their main cosmetical areas is ridiculous. A game company thrives on feedback, which is exactly why they created the [email protected] adress.

I also like how you throw in statistical numbers without any form of evidence to back it up. I can assure you that at least 94,6% of the fanbase WILL notice an eventual improvement, should Rockstar decide to work on the police cars. Alright, maybe I can't back that up either, but my point is, if there was no demand for it, this thread would have died ages ago. Along with the popular demand for police light mods that are still being made every day.

Problem with new cars is a. the fact police departments use the same cars year in year out and b. making a new car and getting it fully in game costs time and money.

You don't see people whining on a CSI board about them wearing the same lab coats or using the same tech since the show started and demanding new stuff, do you? IMO the police stuff is fine, it is not a huge priority for R*.

Let's suppose a huge gamebreaking bug is found on launch (a la Skyrim) and R* has to pick between a critical fix or police stuff, would they ignore a huge bug to put in minor details?

Well you have to realize that we're not talking about real life. It's a game. We don't use lab coats, and they barely ever get changed. In the real world Los Angeles, and major cities, the police cars are a big thing, changing constantly for improvements. We all want better details, and it's been four years since R* released IV, and eight years since they released San Andreas, the same setting and police department of V. It all comes in to play. The police are a huge detail in a crime game such as Grand Theft Auto. The police can't be ignored, and that's why this topic was made. To protest the want of R* to keep their old police cars in. And to all of the British people here, please understand that American police and emergency service vehicles are 10x better than ones in the UK. It's not necessary to post pictures of them on here, an American gaming topic.

But please guys, you might think it's a waste of time put all you have to do is copy and paste and if R* get's enough messages, I am sure that they will change the police cars.
